Objective To evaluate the effects of teriipressin on perioperative renal function in patients undergoing liver transplantation. Methods Forty ASA Ⅲ or Ⅳ patients (31 males and 9 females) aged 35-55 yr and weighing 46-81 kg were randomly divided into2 groups (n=20 each): terlipressin group and control group. The patients were premedicated with intramuscular midazolam 2- 3 mg and atropine 0.5 mg. Swan-ganz catheter was placed via the right internal jugular vein and the radial artery was cannulated. Electrocardiography (ECG), blood pressure (BP), heart rate (HR), central venous pressure (CVP) and pulmonary arterypressure (PAP) were monitored during general anesthesia. General anesthesia was induced with midazolam (0.1-0.2 mg/kg), fentanyl (5-10 μg/kg), propofol(1-2 mg/kg) and vecuronium (0.1 mg/kg) and maintained with 0.5%-1.5% isoflurane, propofol infusion at 2-5 mg·kg-1·h-1 and intermittent i.v. boluses of fentanyl and vecuronium. The patients were mechanically ventilated after tracheal intubation. In the terlipressin group, 2 mg of terlipressin was added to 50 ml of normal saline (NS) and was continuously infused at 10 ml/L from beginning of operation until the end of anhepatic phase, while in the control group, NS was infused only. Blood and urine samples were taken before operation(T0), at the end of anhepatic phase (T1), at the end of operation (T2), and on the 1st and 2nd day after operation (T3, T4)for determination of plasma angiotensin Ⅱ (AT- Ⅱ ), serumβ2-microglobulin (MG), blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and creatinine (Cr) concentrations and N-acetyl-βd-glucosaminidase (NAG) concentrations in the urine. Urine output was measured during pre-anhepatic, anhepatic and neo-hepatic phase and on the 1 st and2nd day after operation. Results The urinary NAG and serum β2-MG concentrations were significantly increased at T1 as compared with the baseline at T0in both groups. The urinary NAG, plasma AT-Ⅱ, serum β2-MG, BUN and Cr concentrations were significantly lower and theurinary output was significantly higher during T2-4 in the terlipressin group than in the control group. Conclusion Terlipressin has protective effects on renal function in patients undergoing orthotopic liver transplantation.

An HPLC method for the determination of geniposide concentration in mouse plasma was developed and the pharmacokinetics after intranasal administration of Xingnaojing microemulsion (XNJ-M) and mPEG2000-PLA modified Xingnaojing microemulsion (XNJ-MM) were investigated. Eighty mice were treated by XNJ-M and XNJ-MM nasally. The plasma samples were collected at different times and the drug in samples was detected by HPLC. The pharmacokinetic parameters were calculated by the software of Kinetica. The pharmacokinetic parameters of geniposide of XNJ-M were C(max) (4.36 +/- 2.69) mg x L(-1), t(max) 1 min, MRT (29.73 +/- 4.54) min, AUC (53.63 +/- 14.03) mg x L(-1) x min. The pharmacokinetic parameters of geniposide of XNJ-MM were C(max) (9.75 +/- 4.14) mg x L(-1), t(max) 1 min, MRT(22.34 +/- 2.90) min, AUC (131.87 +/- 40.13) mg x L(-1) x min. Geniposide can be absorbed into blood in a higher degree after intranasal administration with XNJ-MM compared to XNJ-M, which maybe caused by its less irritating and more absorption.

Integrins are a family of cell surface glycoproteins that contribute to a variety of biological functions, including cell growth, migration, proliferation and morphology. In addition, integrins also play the important roles in pathological process. Several viruses have been showed to use integrins as receptors or co-receptors to infect host cells. This article mainly reviews the progress on integrins and their roles in FMDV infection.

Receptors are primary determinant of viral tropism and disease pathogenesis.Heparan sulfates (HS)are ubiquitous, polyanionic carbohydrate chains linked to core proteins in cell membranes and ex- tracellular matrices of all eukaryotes.HS have also been demonstrated to function as receptors or co-receptors for a number of different viruses. To date,HS and four RGD-dependent integrins,?v?3,?v?6, ?v?1,and?v?8 have been reported to serve as receptors for Foot-and-mouth disease virus(FMDV).Different receptors may be used to interact with host cells during FMDV infection.Studies on the structure and function of receptors are very important for understanding the interaction between host cells and FMDV. Here,We mainly reviews the progress on the biological characteristics of HS and its roles in FMDV infection.

Objective To investigate whether the protein kinase C inhibitor can promote the apopto- sis of multidrug resistance tumor cell lines which are induced by chemotherapy drugs. Methods Choose the KB/S(oral squamous cancer cell line)and KB/VCR(its multidrug resistant cell line)to compare the Adri- amycin-induced apoptosis with or without staurospolin(protein kinase C inhibitor). The apoptosis is stained with acridine orange, tested by flow cytometry, and approved by electron microscope. Results 36 hours after the treatment with 0.04 ?g/ml adriamycin, apoptotic cells of KB/S are 96.68%,and after 48 hours, the apop- totic cells of KB/VCR are 64.99%.When the concentration of adriamycin are augmented to 0.4?g/ml and 2.0?g/ml,the apoptotic cells of KB/VCR are 69.74% and 37.18% respectively. When treated with stau- rospolin together, the apoptotic cells of KB/VCR increased to 72.58%(?~2=4.5,P0.05)respectively.These results were testified by electron microscope and acridine orange-stain.Conclu- sion The resistance to apoptosis may be one of the mechanisms of multidrug resistance and the protein ki- nase C inhibitor may reverse this resistance by promoting the apoptosis of multidrug resistance tumor cells.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Bushen Wenyang Huayu Recipe (BWHR) on hypoxia inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α), proline hydroxylase2 (PHD2), von Hippel Lindau disease (VHL) suppressor gene expressions in endometriosis (EM) rats with Shen yang deficiency blood stasis syndrome (SYDBSS), and to explore the pathogenesis of EM and the mechanism of BWHR for treating EM.
METHODSTotally 50 SD rats were randomly divided into five groups, i.e., the blank control group, the sham-operation group, the model group, the Chinese medicine (CM) group, and the Western medicine (WM) group, 10 in each group. Rats in the blank control group and the sham-operation group were fed routinely. Rats in the rest 3 groups received 30-day "extended refrigerator freezing and ice water immersion" and combined with " autotransplantation" to establish EM rat model with SYDBSS. One Milliliter BWHR at 3.33 g/mL was administered to rats in the CM group by gastrogavage. Gestrinone at the daily dose of 0. 5 mg/kg was administered to rats in the WM group by gastrogavage. Equal volume of normal saline was administered to rats in the model group, the blank control group, and the sham-operation group. The size and morphology of ectopic foci in rats were observed after 4 weeks of medication. Expressions of serum CA125, plasma cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP), and plasma cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) were detected by radioimmunoassay. Morphological changes of eutopic endometrium and ectopic tissue were observed under the optical microscope by HE staining. Protein expressions and contents of HIF-lα, PHD2, and VHL were detected by immunohistochemical SABC method and Western blot. mRNA expressions of HIF-1α, PHD2, and VHL were detected by RT-PCR.
RESULTSThe ectopic foci grew significantly in the model group. Their volumes were obviously contracted after treated by CM and WM. Compared with the blank control group and the sham-operation group, serum CA125 and plasma cGMP obviously increased, cAMP obviously decreased (P < 0.05); expressions and contents of HIF-1α mRNA and protein all decreased (P < 0.05); mRNA and protein expressions and contents of PHD2 and VHL all decreased in the model group (P < 0.05). Compared with model group, levels of CA125 and cGMP obviously decreased; cAMP levels obviously increased, expressions and contents of HIF-1α mRNA and protein all increased, mRNA and protein expressions and contents of PHD2 and VHL all increased in the WM group and the CM group (P < 0.05). Compared with the CM group, PHD2 protein contents were higher in the WM group (P < 0.05). HIF-1α was negatively correlated with PHD2 (r = -0.799, P = 0.00). HIF-1α was negatively correlated with VHL (r = -0. 625, P = 0.003).
CONCLUSIONSBWHR could effectively treat EM. Its mechanism might be associated with reducing contents of HIF-1α, serum CA125, and plasma cGMP, and up-regulating expressions of PHD2, VHL, and cAMP.

Abstract: Objective To understand the mental health literacy level of residents in Hainan Province, and to provide evidence for promoting mental health promotion and improving the mental health literacy level of residents. Methods Multi-stage random sampling method was used to investigate The National Mental Health Literacy Questionnaire among 6 895 residents in 12 districts including Changjiang, Chengmai, Dongfang, Ledong, Lingshui, Haikou Longhua District, Haikou Meilan District, Qionghai, Sanya, Tunchang, Wenchang and Wuzhishan. Results In the survey 6 895 residents in 12 counties, cities, districts of Hainan Province, 365 of them reached the standard of mental health with the standard rate of 5.3%. The mental health knowledge score was (54.00±17.02) with the standard rate of 7.7%; the self-assessment score was (26.11±3.99) with the standard rate of 75.9%; the score of mental health skill was (26.22±7.25) with the standard rate of 44.8%. The mental health literacy level of medical workers was the highest, with the standard rate of 13.5% (112/830), and the mental health literacy level of farmers was the lowest, with the standard rate of 0.8% (13/1 647). The results of unconditional Logistic regression showed that the factors entering the regression model included educational background (OR=2.268), personal monthly income (OR=1.129), gender (OR=1.302), household registration (OR=0.776), and whether they had participated in mental health related courses OR training (OR=0.511). The higher the educational background and personal monthly income, the higher the psychological quality. The mental health of women was higher than that of men, and that of urban was higher than that of rural, and those who had participated in mental health related courses were higher than those who had not. Conclusions The mental health literacy level of Hainan residents is at a low level, and the influencing factors are multifaceted. It is suggested to strengthen the mental health monitoring comprehensively and carry out rich health education service mode for different groups.

OBJECTIVETo observe the efficacy of treatment of acute leukemia by Shengfu Injection (SFI) in combination with chemotherapy and the effect of treatment on T-lymphocyte subsets (CD4, CD8, CD4/CD8), serum interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-alpha).
METHODSSixty-one patients with acute leukemia of initiatory treating were randomly divided into two groups, the 31 patients in the treated group were treated with SFI plus chemotherapy and the 30 patients in the control group treated with chemotherapy alone. The remission rate, changes of absolute number of peripheral mature neutrophils, T-lymphocyte subsets, serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha before and after treatment were observed.
RESULTSThe remission rate was higher in the treated group than that in the control group but the difference was insignificant (P > 0.05). The restoring of peripheral mature neutrophils in the treated group was higher than that in the control group, from the 3rd week of treatment, the difference was significant (all P < 0.05). CD4 and CD4/CD8 ratio after treatment increased in both groups, the increment was more obvious in the treated group than that in the control group significantly (P < 0.05). Serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha lowered in both groups after treatment significantly(all P < 0.01), but the decrement was greater in the treated group with significant difference to the control group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSFI could improve and regulate the immune function in acute leukemia patients undergoing chemotherapy and enhance the therapeutic effect.
