Objective To study Baizhu's inhibitory effect on S180 sarcoma growth and its effect on Bcl-2 expression in tumor-transfected mice. Methods S180 cells were subcutaneously injected into 60 healthy Kunming mice. Meanwhile the mice were dealt with MTX or Baizhu, separately; the weight of tumor was measured in the following two weeks; the expression of Bcl-2 was detected by RT-PCR. Results The tumor's weight in Baizhu group was lower than that in model group, but higher than in MTX group (P<0.05), but Baizhu's inhibition was not associated with its dose (P>0.05), and Baizhu's rate of tumor growth inhibition was lower than that of MTX. Compared with that in control group, Bcl-2 expression was lower in Baizhu group obviously. Conclusion Baizhu can inhibit tumor growth and serve as an adjuvant drug in tumor therapy.

Surgical resection remains the only curative option of treatment for hepatocellular carcinoma, but centrally located tumors remain problematic.Extended right or left hepatectomy removes 60% to 85% of the hepatic parenchyma and is associated with more hepatic failure.Mesohepatectomy, resection of central hepatic segments (Couinaud's segments Ⅳ,Ⅴ,Ⅷ) and leaving the right and left segments in situ, preserves more functional hepatic tissues than extended hepatectomy.Despite its technical demands, mesohepatectomy should be considered as an alternative treatment for central huge hepatic tumors.

Personalized information service has become an important interest in medical library due to the rapid development of Internet technology. The SOA framework-based personalized information service system architecture was proposed by analyzing the contents and characteristics of personalized information service in medical library, which is characterized by standards, loose couple, low cost modification and operating maintenance, and can thus ensure both personalized information service and daily professional activities in medical library.

Objective To explore the significance and correlation between MCP-1 and cardiovascular complication of diabetes. Methods 65 patients with diabetes and 64 patents with IGT and 60 healthy persons as control group are chosen from a population of 1231residents at Jiangnan community in Guangzhou city. Ultrasonic inspection of carotid artery was applied to the intimae media thickness (IMT),and the levels of-MCP-1 were detected by Elisa. Result There was significant difference in the levels of MCP-1 among the normal control group, IGT group and DM group (P=0.000).The levels of MCP-1 in IGT complicated with AS patients were significantly higher than that in IGT alone patients. The levels of MCP-1 in DM complicated with AS patients were significantly higher than that in DM alone patients. The levels of MCP-1 were positively correlated with IMT in these patients. A forward LR Logistic regression analysis showed that IMT was a dependent variable, gender, MCP-1 and age are independently correlated with IMT. Conclusion MCP-1 is correlated with diabetes and its cardiovascular complication and it may be served as the target of therapy.

AIM: To determine multifocal visual evoked potential (mVEP) in the prediction of postoperative visual acuity in cataract. METHODS: We examined 30 normal eyes as control and 60 eyes of 52 cataract patients, senile cataract in 27 cases 30 eyes, cataract with glaucoma in 25 cases 30 eyes by mVEP examination. All patients underwent phacoemulsifi-cation (Phaco) and intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. After surgery, best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was examined at 1 week, 1 month, and 3 months respectively.RESULTS: The mean amplitude and latency in mVEP responses between normal control group were 183±11nV, 95±8ms, and in senile cataract group were 177±10nV, 96± 8ms respectively, there were no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). The mean amplitude and latency of cataract with glaucoma 138±7nV, 99±6ms were significantly different comparing to both control and senile cataract group (P<0.05). After surgery, the am-plitude and latency were 276±11nV and 93±8ms respec-tively, which did not change significantly comparing to the normal eyes (P<0.05), their visual function got no obvious damage and visual recovery were better (BCVA≥0.8). While those with central amplitude 221±6nV and latency 105±7ms that were significantly deviated from control group (P<0.05), and their visual function were seriously damaged and visual recovery were much poorer (BCVA<0.3).CONCLUSION: mVEP waveform might enable us to evaluate objective visual function detection before cataract surgery. A subject with visual function damage, their mVEP responses to stimulation were severely changed when it compared to controls.

The natural products containing 3-acyl tetramic acid units have a large number of complex and diverse structures, showing a variety of biological activities such as antibacterial, antiviral, anti-tumor and so on, especially antibacterial activity which are regarded as a potential reservoir of new antibiotics. In this paper, the antibacterial activities of various natural products containing 3-acyl tetramic acids and the new research hotspots and directions are reviewed.

ObjectiveTo investigate the efficacy of co-infusing cord blood (CB) as the third party cells on graft versus host disease (allo-GVHD) prophylaxis after unrelated or haploidentical donor allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT).MethodsFrom 2007 to 2011,41 patients receiving unrelated or haploidentical donor allo-HSCT were analyzed retrospectively.Twenty-five patients received one unit of HLA 4/6-6/6 matched CB one day before SCT as CB group, and median MNC dose was (1.64 ± 0.49) × 107/kg.Sixteen cases not receiving CB served as control group. All patients received antithymocyte globulin, cyclosporine, methotrexate, and mycophenolate mofetil as GVHD prophylaxis. The incidence and severity of aGVHD,and treatment-related mortality were compared between two groups.ResultsThe main clinical characteristics in both groups were comparable. The cumulative incidence of aGVHD in CB group and control group was 44.0% versus 68.8% respectively (x2 =2.403,P>0.05).The cumulative incidence of grades Ⅲ to ⅣV aGVHD in CB group and control group was 16.0% and 37.5% respectively (x2 =2.445,P>0.05).The 100-day treatment-related mortality in CB group and control group was 12.0% and 12.5% respectively (x2 =0.002,P>0.05).ConclusionCord blood as the third party cells might reduce the incidence and severity of aGVHD in unrelated or haploidentical donor HSCT.The efficacy and the mechanism of this strategy need to be further explored by prospective randomized controlled trials.

Objective To screen the optimized Buyang Huanwu Decoction (BYHWD);To verify it. Methods H2O2 was used to induce PC12 cell oxidative stress models. MTT method was used to determine the prevention effects of BYHWD at different concentrations (0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 3.5 mg/mL) on in vitro oxidative stress cell models to define the optimized concentration. Orthogonal design was used to divide BYHWD single medicine into decomposed BYHWD groups, control group (only with DMEM), normal group (without H2O2 and medicine processing), and model group, to investigate the protective effects on PC12 cells. Optimized BYHWD was screened to decide the compatibility ratio of each medicine. MTT was used to detect the cell survival rate in each group. Middle cerebral artery occlusion was used to replicate MACO rat models. SD rats were randomly divided into sham-operation group, model group, BYHWD group and optimized BYHWD high-, medium-and low-dose groups. Each medication group was given relevant medicine for gavage. The screened results were verified. Results Compared with other decomposed BYHWD groups, the protective effects of the compatibility of Astragali Radix+Chuanxiong Rhizoma+Pheretima on PC12 cells was the best (P<0.05), which was nearly equaled to BYHWD. Compared with the model group, BYHWD and the optimized one could evidently reduce cerebral cortex infarction area and improve the impaired brain edema (P<0.05), and the medium-dose group was the best. Conclusion The optimized BYHWD ratio is:Astragali Radix:Chuanxiong Rhizoma:Pheretima=10:3:1.
