The production technology for the first generation of biofuels has been made great achievements and some countries, such as USA, EU countries, and Brazil, have formed successful biofuel industrial chains. Cellulose ethanol, a representative of the second generation of biofuels and a kind of more promising alternative fuels, has not yet got enough key technological breakthroughs and its large scale commercial production still needs rather some time to realize. Now it is in the early stage of transition to the second generation of biofuels. Taking the development of second generation of biofuels as their national policies, many countries have developed long-term development plans and objectives, and provided a good policy environment and strong support for it. Thus institutes and enterprises are engaging and successing in addressing key issues relating to the development of biofuels. At the mean time, some important issues relating to the sustainable development of biofuels have attracted people's attention.

Objective To evaluate the role of the short-segment transpedicular instrumentation and fusion in the treatment of thoracic and lumbar spine unstable fractures. Methods We reviewed 121 patients of thoracic and lumbar vertebral fractures treated by short-segment transpedicular instrumentation (attachment of one level above the fracture to one level below the fracture) by using an AO Universal Spine System (USS), plus posterolateral fusion by using autogenous iliac crest bone graft. Results Out of the 121 cases, 104 had been followed clinically, radiographically, and functionally for 12 to 72 months (mean 31.3 months). Follow-up observations showed that, 101 patients (97.1%) had neurological function improvement more than one Frankel grade (3 no change), the average loss of vertebral body height basically reversed to normal (mean 58.3% preoperatively versus mean 3.2% postoperatively, with mean loss of 2.1% in follow-up), and the kyphotic angles were basically corrected (mean 29?preoperatively versus mean 3.4?postoperatively, with mean loss of 3.4?in follow-up). Conclusions The short-segment transpedicular instrumentation and fusion can provide excellent reduction and fixation, indirect decompression, and stabilization for unstable thoracic and lumbar fractures. The USS may be effectively employed in the short-segment fixation of thoracic and lumbar fractures.[

OBJECTIVE: To establish a HPLC - UV method for determination of hydroxycamptothecin(HCPT) in rabbit tissues (liver, kidney, stomach, lung, spleen, heart, intestine) .METHODS: After homogenization, tissue samples and internal standard, eamptothecine, were precipitated with CH3OH-CH3CN( 1 : 1) and then centrifugalized.20?l of supernatant was injected and measured by HPLC - UV method. The chromatographic column was Lichrospher C18 column: (250mm ? 4.6mm, 5?m), CH3CN - 0.075mol/L NH4AC buffer(pH6.4) (30 : 70, contain 5mol/L tyiethylamine) served as mobile phase with flow rate of 1.0ml/ min .Detection wavelength was 384nm .RESULTS: The retention time of hydroxyeamptothecin was 4.5min.A good linearity was shown in the concentration range of (40- 1 600)ng/ml .The recovery was between 95.24% and 107.58% . The intra day RSD was less than 7.70% and the inter - day RSD was less than 6.69% .CONCLUSION: This method is simple, pratical and accurate. It could be applied to pharmacokinetic study of hydroxyeamptothecin.

Objective To explore effect of daily clearance and improvement mode application in man-agement of clinical nursing responsible group. Methods 200 patients from hand and foot surgery department of our hospital between January to June, 2007 were included into the control group, and 200 patients who were in hospital between July to December, 2007 were included into the experimental group. Then quality of care and satisfaction of patients were compared respectively between the two groups to study application effect of daffy clearance and improvement mode. Results After six months application of daily clearance and improvement mode, significant difference was seen in the two groups. Condusions Application of daffy clearance and improvement mode in management of clinical nursing responsible group is an effective method in nursing supervision.

Due to their biological and physiological importance, flavonoids received considerable attention in the literature. This review discusses the widely used analytical method i.e. capillary electrophoresis (CE) including the chiral flavonoids separation and the hyphenation of CE and MS. Techniques used for enhancement of sensitivity such as stacking, sweeping, isotachophoresis etc. were also discussed.

AIM To observe the anti-inflammatory effects of total flavones from Xueli Formula (Violae Herba,Serissa japonica,Plantaginis Herba and Salvia plebeia,TFXL) on LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 macrophages.METHODS The effects of different concentrations of TFXL on RAW264.7 cell viability were examined by MTT assay. The NO kit assay was adopted to detect the NO release amount of TFXL on LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cells. The secretions of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α),interleukin-6 (IL-6) and interleukin-10 (IL-10) were tested by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RTPCR) was used to determine the expressions of inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS),TNF-α,IL6 and IL10 mRNA.The protein expressions of IκB-α and p65 were tested by Western blot.RESULTS Compared with the LPS model group,TFXL could significantly reduce the secretions of NO,TNF-α and IL-6;increase the secretion of IL-10;inhibit the expressions of iNOS,TNF-α and IL6 mRNA;promote the expression of IL10 mRNA;inhibit the phosphorylations of IκB-α and p65.The TFXL high-dose group could inhibit the degradation of IκB-α.CONCLUSION This study preliminarily proves the protective effects of TFXL on LPS-stimulated RAW264.7 cell inflammation, whose action mechanism may be related to NF-κB signal pathway.

AIM: To investigate the protective effect of Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) on diabetic testis and explore its possible mechanism. METHODS: Testicular structure of streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats was observed under light microscopy (LM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Content of malondialdehyde (MDA), NO_2~-/NO_3~- and activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), nitric oxide synthase (NOS) were determined in testicular homogenate. RESULTS: In diabetic rats, it was manifestated as deformation of seminiferous tubule, atrophy and shedding of germinal epithelium under LM, while expansion of smooth endoplasmic reticulum, formation of fatty vacuoles and decrease of lysosome obviously in the cytoplasm of sertoli cell under TEM, the injury of testicular tissue was improved by GBE. Compared with diabetic rats, activity of SOD increased while activity of tNOS and iNOS, content of MDA and NO_2~-/NO_3~- decreased in GBE-treated rats. CONCLUSION: GBE could effectively prevent the development of diabetic testis and the effect may be partly achieved by resisting lipid peroxidation, restraining the activity of testicular tissue iNOS and reducing the pathological alterations of NO.
