BACKGROUND:The establishment of animal models of Parkinson’s disease plays an important role in clinical and basic experiments of Parkinson’s disease, and its stability directly affected study results. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the behavior and pathological changes of rats with Parkinson’s disease established by unilateral two-point injection with 6-hydroxydopamine.
METHODS:A total of 62 Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned into experimental group (n=50) and normal group (n=12). Using stereotatic technique, 6-hydroxydopamine was injected into the right substantia nigra
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At 2 weeks, after induction with apomorphine, left rotation speed>7 r/min was observed in only 22 rats of the experimental group. No significant difference in the number of rotation between 2 and 4 weeks was detected (P>0.05). Tyrosine hydroxylase and dopamine content significantly reduced in the model group. Results indicated that unilateral two-point injection of 6-hydroxydopamine could be used to
successful y establish rat models of Parkinson’s disease with similar behaviors and pathologies.

Journal of Audiology and Speech Pathology 2009;17(3):205-209
Objective To observe differences between repeat and written response in speech recognition tests of short Mandarin monosyllable lists. Methods 12 normal-hearing subjects were tested by 6 short monosyllabic lists. The subjects should repeat and write down.the contents of the tests at the same time, the tester monitors au-rally and records the subjects' reactions. The speech recognition scoring error under different responses at different presentation levels could be obtained by comparing the records of the subjects with the tester. Results The speech recognition scoring of repeat and written response were highly correlated with each other (P<0.01). However, 19(26.4%) out of 72 pairs of test records were inconsistent. The error range of them was from -5% to 10%. When the presentation level was 5 dB HL, the difference among the speech recognition scoring was significant statistically, but not significant when the presentation level at 20, 15, 10 and 0 dB HL. Conclusion The test results of speech audiometry are impacted by different respond methods. In the open-set test, it's supposed that the subjects should make notes while repeating the contents of the tests, then compare with the aural monitoring records of the tester to keep the reliability of the test.

Objective To investigate the tumor-inhibitory effect of cytokine-induced killer cells(CIK)co-cul-tured with dendritic cells (DC)pulsed by breast cancer stem cell antigen on the same tumor-bearing mice. Methods Breast cancer stem cells were isolated from the cell line of MCF-7/ADR and extract lyses antigen of the stem cell was saved. DC and CIK derived from peripheral blood mononuclear cells of healthy individuals were co-cultured and pulsed or un-pulsed by the above antigen lyses. This DC+CIK were injected to breast tumorbearing mice (BCSC-AP-DC+CIK group), and were used to compared with the common breast cancer cell antigen (rather than breast cancer stem cell antigen) pulsed DC+CIK group(AP-DC+CIK group), DC+CIK group, CIK CIK group and normal saline group(NS group). The tumor-inhibitory effect were evaluated and compared among all 5 groups through the tumor size, TdT-mediated dUTP nick end labeling test (TUNEL), examining expression level of bcl-2 and bax by immunohistochemistry. Results The tumor size in each group before and after therapy and the tumor size after therapy between each group was of significant difference(P<0.05). The maximum size is NS group(3.625±0.093)cm3 and BCSC-AP-DC+CIK group is minimum, which is (1.234±0.131)cm3. BC-SC-AP-DC+CIK group is of highest expression of bax and apoptotic index value, lowest bcl-2 expression in all 5 groups. Conclusion The CIK co-cultured with DC pulsed breast cancer stem cell antigen was more effective to induce apoptosis of breast cancer cells than those of CIK cells co-cultured with DC pulsed breast cancer cell antigen,CIK cells co-cultured with DC and CIK cells.

Objective To study the related factors associated with the reversal of posttransplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) following liver transplantation. Methods The clinical data of 62patients with PTDM in 232 patients receiving liver transplantation (26. 7 %) were retrospectively analyzed and the patients were divided into two groups: patients with transient PTDM (34 cases) and those with persistent PTDM (28 cases). Pre-operative and post-operative variables, including sex, age, body mass index, family history of diabetes, hepatitis B virus infection, pretransplantation fasting plasma glucose, the immunosuppressant regime, FK506 concentration and duration of steroid usage, were analyzed retrospectively. Results The variables, including sex, age, body mass index, family history of diabetes, hepatitis B virus infection, pretransplantation fasting plasma glucose,FK506 concentration at month 1, 3 and 6 after operation, rate of cyclosporine usage and duration of steroid usage had no significant difference between the two groups (P>0. 05). Compared with the persistent PTDM patients, the transient PTDM patients were characterized by younger age at the time of transplantation (54 ± 8 vs. 42 ± 6 years, P<0. 05), longer time before the development of PTDM (18 ± 23 vs. 35 ± 42 days, P<0. 05), and higher rate of mycophenolate mofetil or sirolimus usage (0vs. 8. 9 %, P<0. 05). Based on a multivariate analysis, age at the time of transplantation was determined as the single independent predictive factor associated with reversal of PTDM following liver transplantation (odds ratio: 1. 312, 95 % confidence interval: 1. 005 - 1. 743). Conclusion Age at the time of transplantation, duration before the development of PTDM and rate of mycophenolate mofetil or sirolimus usage are associated with reversal of PTDM following liver transplantation. Among these factors, age at the time of transplantation is only the single independent predictive factor.
