Objective To investigate epidemic infections of the three infective diseases such as Hepatitis C, Syphilis, AIDS in the pregnant women in Xinyi. Methods The anti-hepatitis C virus antibody (anti-HCV), anti-Treponema pallidum antibody (anti-TP) and anti-human immunodeficiency virus (anti-HIV) were tested on the samples from 9,092 pregnant women hospitalized for birth delivery in the obstetric departments of hospitals and obstetric clinics. Results The detection rates of the three infective diseases were1.54 ‰ (14/9092) for anti -HCV, 5.83 ‰(53/9092) for anti-TP, and 0.55 ‰(5/9092) for anti-HIV.There was no statistically signifi-cant difference in the infection rate by the three pathogens among the age group. Conclusion The infection rates of HCV, TP and HIV are high among the pregnant women in Xinyi. The prenatal screening should be further strength-ened to promote the prenatal and postnatal care.

Objective To investigate the effect of telephone call follow-up on compliance with opening-mouth exercises among nasopharyngeal carcinoma(NPC)patients with radiotherapy-induced difficulty in opening mouth. Methods Sixty four nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients undergoing radiotherapy were randomized into control group(n=31)and observation group(n=31).The former group was given health education and instructions for functional exercises of opening mouth at discharge and regular return visits after discharge, and the observation group received regular telephone call follow-ups by an appointed nurse besides the same treatment as in the control group. The two groups were compared in regard to the compliance with the exercises of opening mouth and the incidences of difficulties in opening mouth at the first and second years after discharge. Results The compliance of the observation group was significantly higher that in the control group(P<0.01).The incidences of difficulties in opening mouth in the observation group were significantly smaller than that in those of the control at the first and second years after discharge(P<0.01). Conclusion Telephone call follow-ups are effective in the improvement of compliance of functional exercises in NPC patients with radiotherapy-induced difficulty in opening mouth, the reduction of the incidence of mouth-opening problems and the improvement of their quality of life.

Objective To compare the clinical characteristics, and outcomes of patients with heart failure with different left ventricular ejection fractions (LVEF).Methods A total of 1 182 hospitalized patients with heart failure (HF) were enrolled and retrospectively studied in the present study. The patients were stratified by LVEF as reduced (HFrEF,LVEF < 40%,n =313),mid-range (HFmrEF,40% ≤ LVEF <50%,n =287) and preserved (HFpEF,LVEF≥50%,n =582) ejection fraction groups.Among the 1 182 cases,941 of them (81.3%,84.9%,and 84.0% inHFrEF,HFmrEF and HFpEF groups, respectively) were followed up for an median duration of 27.3 months. Results (1) Among the study patients,26.5% were in HFrEF,24.3% in HFmrEF,and 49.2% in HFpEF groups.(2) Ischemic heart disease with HFmrEF was more frequent than that in patients with HFrEF.The average age, percentage of female subjects, systolic blood pressure, uric acid,N terminal B-type natriuretic peptide precursor (NT-proBNP),hemoglobin,and the incidence of hypertensive heart disease, anemia, atrial fibrillation in patients with HFmrEF were higher than those in patients with HFrEF,but lower than those in patients with HFpEF (all P <0.01).(3) The all-cause cumulative mortality was 10.8% at 1 year,20.6% at 2 years and 35.9% at 5 years. No difference was observed in the all-cause cumulative mortality at 1 year,2 years,5 years among the three groups (all P > 0.05).Conclusions The HFmrEF patients,as a new and distinct group, were with many intermediate characteristics compared with HFrEF and HFpEF subjects. However, the all-cause mortality was not significantly differeut among HF patients with different LVEF.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinicopathological significance of positive CK7 expression in human colorectal carcinoma (HCC).
METHODSImmunohistochemistry was used to detect CK7 and CK20 protein expressions in 68 cases of HCC, 20 cases of canalicular adenoma (CA), 5 cases of serrated adenoma (SA) and 20 cases of hyperplastic polyps (HP).
RESULTSThe positivity rate of CK20 expression was 89.7% in HCC, and 100% in CA, SA and HP. In HCC, the expression rate of CK7 (39.7%) was not correlated with Dukes' classification, differentiation and tumor location. CK7 positivity rate in colon cancer was 35.7% (15/52) and 42.3% (11/26) in rectal cancer. CK7 expression was negative in CA. CK7 positivity rate in SA was 49% and 30% in HP.
CONCLUSIONCK7 is a possible marker for colorectal carcinogenesis from HP to SA, and ultimately to HCC, and examination of the colorectal polypoid lesions for CK7 expression can be significant for estimating the colorectal polypous cancerization.
