Objective To investigate the clinical features and the mechanism of falciparum malaria in several patients between Chinese and Malian. Methods The data of Chinese (n =28) and Malian patients (n =35) including general condition,Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS),APACHE Ⅱ,the time of applying ventilator and days of stay in ICU,laboratory examination (plasmodium test, routine blood test, liver and kidney function and C-reactive protein (CRP) assayed before treatment and 1d,3d,7d after treatment, cranial computed tomography and mortality were recorded for investigating the clinical features of the disease. Results There was difference in age range between Chinese patients (ranged from 32 to 50 years old) and Malian patients (ranged from 8 to 72 years old),and difference in severity of the disease between patients of two countries was found and Malian patients were more severely infected than Chinese patients. The results of plasmodium test, routine blood test, liver and kidney function and level of CRP often varied greatly during the entire course of the disease, and the changes were greater in Malian patients. The correlation between APACHE Ⅱ and CRP was found (P < 0.05).The cranial CT displayed ischemia focus in brain. The mortality of Chinese patients was 16.7% and that of Malian was 25.0%.Conclusions There was difference in composition of residents between Chinese patients and Malian patients.Malian patients were more severely infected with Plasmodium falciparum than Chinese patients, and this difference might be due to the potential correlation between the disease virulence and immune response of patients.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of donor liver pretreated by breviscapine on liver transplantation ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats. Methods SD rats served as liver donors and recipients (n =48 each). The recipients were divided into four groups by random number table. The donors in groups A and C were not pretreated with breviscapine, but those in groups B and D were pretreated with 20 mg/L Breviscapine. The cold ischemia time in donor livers of groups A and B was 30-40 min,and that in groups C and D was 12 h. Clotting function, liver function, serum thrombomodulin,caspase3,and relative activity of NF-kB after liver transplantation were assessed, and the pathological changes and TUNEL apoptosis staining were observed.ResultsThe mortality in groups C and D was 40.0% (8/20) and 29.4% (5/17),respectively (P>0.05).There were no significant changes in coagulation function in all groups after operation. The liver function was improved, pathological lesions were alleviated, and apoptosis rate, serum TM,caspase3 expression and activity of NF-kB in the liver tissues of group D were significantly decreased as compared with group C at 3rd day after operation (P<0.01),but all these parameters in group B had no significant change compared to group A.ConclusionPretreatment of donor livers with breviscapine can reduce the ischemia/reperfusion injury and apoptosis after liver transplantation in rats probably by inhibiting the apoptosis-related pathway and alleviating the damage to the endothelial cells of the liver microcirculation.
4.Analysis of the influence of novel coronavirus infection on HIV ELISA results
China Modern Doctor 2024;62(14):65-68
Objective Analyze and study the detection performance of single reagent reactivity results of human immunodeficiency virus antigen antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(HIV-ELISA)in unpaid blood donors,to provide reference for improving the laboratory's testing capabilities. Methods Detection of 7069 specimens from our station in February 2023 using the BR-HIV reagent, among them, there were 120 cases of BR-HIV single reagent reactivity, then, three different manufacturers of HIV-ELISA reagents were used for the single reagent reactivity sample, chemiluminescence immunoassay(CLIA),nucleic acid detection technology(NAT)and Western blot for detection, statistical analysis of the relationship between ELISA,CLIA,NAT and Western blot detection results. Results Phased BR-HIV single reagent reactivity increase is related to A virus A infection, the difference is statistically significant(χ2=4.058,P<0.05).Tracking the information of 120 specimens by phone, data analysis of BR-HIV single reagent reactive A virus A infected persons and uninfected persons S/CO value, infected individuals are significantly higher than uninfected individuals.Infected individuals are significantly higher than uninfected individuals, the difference is statistically significant(χ2=44.099,P<0.05).CLIA,NAT,and three other HIV-ELISA detection reagents have consistency(Kappa=1),with equivalence. The results of immunoblotting test(Western blot)were all negative. Conclusion The false positive rate of BR-HIV single reagent in the samples of unpaid blood donors who had been infected with A virus A increased,CLIA,NAT,and other enzyme exempt agents can be used instead of testing, reduce the scrapping of blood, improve the detection ability of blood.
