Journal of Practical Stomatology 1995;0(04):-
Objective:To compare the healing of gingiva after electrosurgical gingivectomy with different power outputs and electrodes. Methods:15 rabbits were randomly assigned to 3 groups which used different electrodes: needle electrode, long loop electrode and loop electrode. 1 animal was chosen as control in each group. Free gingiva of anterior teeth had been removed 2 mm in height with different power output and electrosurgical knife. Gingival specimens were harvested for histopathological study on days 1,7,14,and 21 after operation. Statistical analysis was performed on wound healing. Results:Electrical knife with medium power output caused significantly higher degree of inflammation than other techniques(P0.05). Conclusion:When electrosurgery is used on gingiva, there is no significantly difference with different electrodes. Longer observation is needed after gingival electrosurgery with medium power output electrical knife.

Objective To investigate the safety and feasibility of fast track surgery (FTS)in patients with vaginal hysterectomy for non -prolapsed uterus. Methods 1 1 0 cases of vaginal hysterectomy for non -prolapsed ute-rus with benign uterine disease were randomly divided into two groups:fast track group (n =55)and conventional group (n =55).The operative time, intraoperative blood loss, postoperative nausea and vomiting, anal exhaust time, postoperative hospital stay, medical cost and perioperative complications were compared between the two groups. Results In FTS group, the incidence rate of postoperative nausea and vomiting, the postoperative anal exhaust time, hospital stay, cost of hospitalization were 1 6.4%,(1 3.73 ±2.41 )h and (4.38 ±1 .08 )d,(7 541 .00 ± 253.1 7)yuan,respectively,which in the control group were 36.4%,(1 8.56 ±1 .54 )h,(4.89 ±1 .26 )d, (8 1 55.1 5 ±495.89)yuan,the differences were statistically significant between the two groups (χ2 =5.67,t =-1 2.53,-2.28,-8.1 7,all P <0.05).There was no significant difference in the operative complications between the two groups (P >0.05).Conclusion FTS has good security. It can short the hospitalization time, reduce medical costs and improve the quality of life in patients who underwent vaginal hysterectomy for non -prolapsed uterus with benign uterine disease.

The disturbance of life rhythm exerts negative influence on modem life. The relationship between the disruption of circadian rhythms and tumor growth has attracted much attention. It has been studied in breast cancer and prostate cancer, and chronotherapeutics has been used for treatment of some cancers in clinic.Researchers have begun to investigate the association of circadian rhythms with leukemia/lymphoma outside China. The literatures were reviewed and the launch of research on this field was appealed.

Viral etiology of tumor has been studied for a century.Seven human tumor viruses were identified over the past half century. The complexity and regularity of the pathogenic mechanisms of human tumor viruses have been elucidated preliminarily.Human genome sequencing indicated that 8 % of human genes were composed of human endogenous retroviruses (HERVs).Owing to the findings that adult T-cell leukemia virus (HTLV) can cause human adult T-cell leukemia and animal exogenous and HERVs can induce tumors and malignant diseases, the relationship between HERVs and human tumors has attracted much attention receutly. Here this article discusses the association of the expression of HERVs with leukemia and solid tumors progression, which may be an important aspect of tumor virology.

As novel organisms, tumors undergo microevolution in limited time and space in vivo.Due to genetic mutations and epigenetic mechanisms, tumor cell clones undergo linear or branching evolution. In most clinic patients, tumors develop through branching evolution pathways, causing tumor heterogeneity and affecting tumor progression.Microevolution is the biological basis for the refractoriness and recurrence of tumors and has been paid attention in research and clinic recently. In this paper, acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) are used as examples to demonstrate tumor microevolution and the concept of linear and branching evolution.Questions and perspective in the field of tumor microevolution research are also discussed.

Objective To investigate the effect of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) agonist pioglitazone on white matter lesions and spatial memory function in chronic hypertensive rats. Methods Thirty-six male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into a sham operation group (n =6),a hypertensive group,(n =15),and a pinglitazone group (n =15).A model of stroke-prone renovascular hypertensive rat (RHRSP) was induced by the two-kidney two clip method in the hypertensive group and pioglitazone group. At 8 weeks after procedure, the rats were administered intragastrically.10 mg/(kg · d) pioglitazone was given in the pioglitazone group and an equal volume of saline was given in the hypertensive group.Blood pressure was monitored via caudal artery every 2 weeks before procedure, before administration, and after administration, respectively. After 12 weeks of continuous administration,Loyez staining was used to observe the degree of leukoaraiosis, and Morris water maze test was used to detect spatial memory function. Results After modeling, the blood pressure of RHRSP increased gradually. It was significantly higher than the sham operation group (all P =0.001).There was no significant difference in blood pressure between the hypertensive group and the pioglitazone group (P =0.897).The Morris water maze test showed that escape latencies of the sham operation group and the pioglitazone group were significantly shorter than the hypertensive group (all P <0.05).The numbers of crossing hidden platform in the 3 groups of rats were 5.200 ± 1.798,4.560 ± 1.592,and 2.333 ± 1.978 times, respectively. There were significantly differences (F =8.143,P =0.001).Both the sham operation group and the pioglitazone group were significantly more than the hypertensive group (all P <0.05).Loyez staining showed that the grades of white matter lesions in corpus callosum of the sham operation group, the hypertensive group, and the pioglitazone group were 0.333 ± 0.516,2.600 ± 0.507,and 0.500 ± 0.522,respectively.There were significantly differences among the 3 groups (F =25.652,P =0.000).The grade of the sham operation group and the pioglitazone group was significantly lower than the hypertensive group (all P< 0.05).Conclusions PPARγ agonist pioglitazone may protect the spatial memory function by relieving white matter lesions of the chronic hypertensive rats.

Human herpesviruses (HHV) are widespread all over the world, and persist in human in latent infection. When reactivated,HHV plays an important role in the pathogenesis and development of tumor and other diseases.Much attention has been paid on EB virus which can cause different tumors and other diseases.Studies within this half century have elucidated the mechanism of oncogenesis of γ-HHV.Recently it was reported that other HHV may have oncomodulation functions.
