Objective This clinical study was designed to explore the therapeutic efficacy of dihydroergotoxine for headache at-tributed to ischemic stroke .Methods Seventy eight patients fulfilling the diagnostic criteria of headache attributed to ischemic stroke were enrolled and randomly divided into two treatment group(n=42) and control group(n=36) who took dihydroergotoxine (2 mg twice daily) and placebo respectively .One week for a course of treatment ,had many courses of treatment .Efficacy was as-sessed using the patient′s diary .Results The gender ,age ,stroke aetiology ,admission NIHSS score ,quality and location of headache didn′t differ significantly between the two groups .Compared with the control group ,the duration of headache were shorter in treat-ment group(3 .78 ± 1 .44 vs .4 .88 ± 1 .45 ,P=0 .002) .The severity of headache were lower in treatment group since the third day post ischemic stroke(P<0 .05) .There were no significant side effects during treatment .Conclusion Dihydroergotoxine in treat-ment of headache attributed to ischemic stroke is beneficial to shorten the duration of headache as well as decrease the severity of headache ,and thereby improve the quality of life .

Objective: To investigate the clinicopathologic characteristics and etiological factors of cervical cancer in young Uygur women in Xinjiang.Methods" We reviewed 350 cases of young Uygur females diagnosed with cervical cancer in our hospital during 1998-2007.The patients were divided into two groups according to their admission time (1998～2002 group and 2003～2007 group).Results: The incidence of cervical carcinoma among yong Uygur women was 12.9% in the 1998-2002 group and 10.3% in the 2003-2007 group.The first symptom was vaginal contactive bleeding.In both groups, most patients were peasants, but the percentages of highbrow was higher in the 2003-2007 group.Patients in the 2003～2007 group were of older age at first marriage and had lower rate of abortion.There was no significant difference in histological type between the two groups.However, patients in the 2003-2007 group presented with much earlier stage of cervical cancer and 56.9% of them were of stage Ⅱ disease, compared with 18.1% in the 1998-2002 group (P<0.05).Squamous cell carcinoma was the dominant histological type.Conclusion: The incidence of cervical carcinoma in young Uygur women tends to decrease due to screening and advocation of late marriage, less reproduction in remote rural areas of Xinjiang.

AIM: Recent studies have identified the importance of inflammation in the development and progression of heart failure.Chemokines are essential factors in the recruitment and activation of leukocytes.They are closely related with inflammation.So the relation between chemokines expression and lymphocytes recruitment and cardiac function after acute myocardial infarction(AMI) was studied.METHODS: Ligating left interventricular branch induced AMI.Experimental rats were divided into three groups: heart failure group(MI-HF),non-heart failure group(MI-NF) and sham group(sham).Sham group was made by the same procedure only without ligation.The blood dynamics of rats was examined after 3 days,1 week and 2 weeks following ligation.Rats,which had a left ventricular end-diastolic pressure(LVEDP) above 15 mmHg,were considered to be in heart failure.Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) was used to analyze the mRNA expression of chemokines,including monokine induced by IFN-?(MIG),macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha(MIP-1?) and regulated upon activation,normal T cell expressed and secreted(RANTES),in the infarcted region(circumjacent region included).The numbers of lymphocytes infiltrated in the infarcted region were also counted.RESULTS: MIP-1?,RANTES and MIG mRNA increased at 3 days and reached the peak at 1 week after AMI,significantly higher in MI-HF group than those in MI-NF group(RANTES,0.83?0.05 vs 0.51?0.19,P

AIM: The aim of the present study is to investigate changes of five biochemical markers of bone turnover during the formation of ovariectomized rat model. METHODS: Three-month-old female SD rats were divided randomly into ovariectomized (OVX) group, sham-operated (sham) group and control group. Five biochemical markers of bone turnover levels, including serum osteocalcin (OC), total alkaline phosphatase (ALP), bone-specific alkaline phosphatase (BALP), tartrate-resistant acid phosphatase (TRAP) and hydroxyproline (HYP) were measured before and at 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 and 4 months after surgery. The right proximal tibias of rats were excised at the same time point for histopathological observation. RESULTS: Serum OC, ALP, BALP, TRAP and HYP levels in OVX group were significantly higher than that in sham group. As regard to the time of peak level arrived, the sequence of changes was as follows: TRAP/HYP→OC→ALP/BALP. There was a significant positive correlation between five markers. The pathological changes of trabecular bone in OVX group were only observed 3 months after surgery. CONCLUSION: The results suggest that postmenopausal osteoporosis has a high bone turnover rate. During the formation of ovariectomized rat model, changes of bone resorption markers precede changes of bone formation markers. Serum OC, ALP, BALP, TRAP and HYP are sensitive to evaluate the bone loss in the earlier stage of postmenopausal osteoporosis.

Objective To study the expression of ABC gene family of MCF 7/ADM cells as compared to parental cell line MCF 7/S, and its reversion by realgar of the expressed genes. Methods Expression of ABC family genes was examined by RT PCR, and cell growth by MTT test. Results The expression of ABC gene family was positive in MCF 7/ADM cells compared to MCF 7/S cells; Realgar can down regulate the expression ABC gene family in MCF 7/ADM cells; the IC 50 of ADM to MCF 7/ADM cells was decreased.Conclusion ABC gene family was responsible for the induced resistance of MCF 7/ADM cells to ADM; Realgar is able to reverse partly the multidrug resistance of the human breast cancer cell line MCF 7/ADM. [

AIM: To explore the molecular mechanisms about fibrosis and transforming growth factor (TGF) - β1 as well as inflammation in rats heart after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). METHODS: AMI model in rats was produced by left coronary artery ligation. Samples of rat cardiac tissue were collected at the end of 1 week, 4 weeks and 8 weeks. Hemodynamics had been performed before rats were sacrificed. Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) and immunohistochemical methods were used to analyze mRNA expression and protein production of TGF- β1, respectively. Hydroxyproline was determined by chloramines T method. HE staining was resorted to analyze pathological myocardium after AMI. RESULTS: There were remarkable differences in hemodynamics between AMI groups and sham group (P＜0.01). Compared with sham group, TGF-β1mRNA expression and protein production and hydroxyproline quantification were enhanced greatly. Among them, the levels of TGF -β1 and hydroxyproline at 1 week were higher than those at 4 weeks or 8 weeks. A positive correlation between TGF- β1 protein and hydroxyproline was presented (r=0.75 - 0.99, P＜0.05). In microscope, leucocytes infiltrated significantly in the infarcted and border myocardium at 1 week after AMI, and were rarely seen at 4 weeks and 8 weeks. TGF - β1 protein were detected in cytoplasm of cardiac myocyte and leucocytes at 1 week, and at 4 and 8 weeks in myofibroblast and interstitial. CONCLUSIONS:TGF- β1 is upregulated and found in cytoplasm of cardiac myocyte and leucocytes as well as myofibroblast in heart after AMI,which is associated with dynamic changes of hydroxyproline content and inflammation. TGF - β1 is showed to play an important role in myocardial inflammatory repair and ventricular remodeling after AMI.

Objective To observe the short term curative effect,life quality,adverse reactions of Jianpibufei decoction combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with advanced non small cell lung cenacer.Methods 60 patients with advanced non small cell lung cenacer were randomly divided into the treatment group and the control gnoup,each group 30 cases.The treatment group was treated with TP scheme and Jianpibufei decoction.The contwl group was only treated with TP scheme.The effect,life quality and the injury of liver and kidney function was observed and compared between the two groups.Results The difference of the remission rate between the two groups had no statistical significance(x2 =0.418,P ＞ 0.05).The improving rate of life quality in the treatment group was 70％,and higher than that in the control group(40％)(x2 =6.545,P ＜0.05).The reduction of the white blood cell,the hemoglobin,platelet and the injury of liver function in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group obviously(Z=-2.516,-2.184,-2.059,-2.097,all P＜0.05).Conclusion Jianpibufei decoction combined with chemotherapy in the treatment of patients with advanced non small cell long cenacer could not increase the effect,but could reduce the adverse reaction of the chemotherapy and improve the life quality of patients.

AIM: The study explored the significance of the imbalance of Th1/Th2 function after acute myocardial infarction (AMI). METHODS: Peripheral blood mononuclear cells from 33 AMI patients, 22 unstable angina (UA) patients and splenocytes from 35 AMI rats were collected. Cytokine-producing Th cells were monitored by 3-color flow cytometry after stimulated with phorbol myristate acetate (PMA) and ionomycin. IFN-? and IL-4 mRNA in the rat myocardium and chemokine receptors CCR3, CCR5 and CXCR3 mRNA on the surface of rat T lymphocytes after AMI were measured by RT-PCR. RESULTS: Th1 associated cytokine IFN-? significantly increased in patients with AMI and UA within 24 hours after the onset of symptom. the high ratio of IFN-?-producing T cells lasted short in patients with UA and recovered 1 week after the onset. In AMI patients, the high ratio of IFN-?-producing T cells could be examined 1 week and even 1 month after the onset. There was no significant difference on the frequencies of IL-4-producing peripheral T cells between each group. 1 week, 2 weeks and 1 month after AMI, IFN-? mRNA increased in the myocardium of rats, but there was no significant change on cytokine-producing Th cells and chemokine receptors on the surface of rat T lymphocytes. CONCLUSIONS: The Th1/Th2 functional imbalance and up-regulation of Th1 cell-functions exist after AMI and perhaps participate in the onset of AMI. Th1/Th2 functional imbalance may participate in the immune-mediated myocardial injury and ventricular remodeling after AMI as one of the pathogenesises of autoimmune disease.

ObjectiveTo investigate the therapeutic effect of mefformin on type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) complicated with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).MethodsThe model rats of T2DM complicated with NAFLD were established by feeding high-glucose and high-fat diet, and injection of low dose streptozotocin.The model rats were randomly divided into 2 groups, model group (n = 16) and metformin group (n = 16).Twenty normal rats were set for normal control group.Intragastric administration lasted for 12 weeks.At the end of 16th week (after treated 8 weeks) and 20th week (after treated 12weeks), the levels of serum alanine aminotransferase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase(AST), fasting blood glucose (FBG),fasting insulin (FINs), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC) and free fatty acid (FFA) in each group were determined and the level of insulin sensitivity index (ISI) was determined.Meanwhile, pathological changes of liver, the expression of uncoupling protein-2 (UCP-2) mRNA and UCP-2 protein of liver tissues in each group were detected.ResultsThe levels of serum ALT, AST, FBG,FINs, serum TG , TC and FFA were significantly higher and ISI was significantly lower and the expression of UCP-2 protein significantly increased in model group, compared with control group (all P ＜ 0.01).The expression of UCP-2 mRNA at 16th and 20th week in model group were significantly higher than that in control group [(1.789 +0.301) vs (0.245 ±0.087), t =11.02, P ＜0.01 and (1.989 +0.207) vs (0.262+ 0.058), t = 17.93, P ＜ 0.01, respectively].Fatty degeneration of liver tissues was significantly exacerbated in model group.After treatment for 8 weeks and 12 weeks with mefformin, the levels of serum ALT,AST, FBG, serum TG, TC and FFA significantly decreased, ISI significantly increased, fatty degeneration of liver tissues was significantly improved, and the expression of UCP-2 protein significantly decreased,compared with model rats (P ＜ 0.01 or P ＜ 0.05).The expression of UCP-2 mRNA at 16th and 20th week in metformin group were significantly lower than that in model group [(0.665 + 0.088) vs (1.789 ±0.301), t = 7.81, P ＜ 0.01 and (0.610 ± 0.1 02) vs (1.989 ± 0.207), t = 9.98, P ＜ 0.01, respectivelv].ConclusionsMetformin has therapeutic effect on T2DM complicated with NAFLD.
