BACKGROUND: Insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF-1) is a peptide hormone, it has been proved a promotion role on the proliferation of precursor cells. OBJECTIVE: To explore the intravenous injection of IGF-1 on the proliferation, migration and differentiation of neural stem cells in rats after cerebral ischemia. METHODS: Eight adult male SD rats were randomly divided into control group and experimental group, with 40 rats in each group. The rats in two groups were used to prepare models of focal cerebral ischemia using modified suture method, the rats in the experimental group were treated with tail vein injection of IGF-1, according to 100 μg/kg computation, the injection was given for 6 continuous days; in the control group, rats were given equal volume of saline. The rats were decapitated at 7, 14, 21, 28 days following intervention, respectively, and rats in each group were given intraperitoneal injection of the BrdU at 1 day before death. Immunohistochemistry and double staining were applied to detect the expressions of BrdU-positive cells, PSA-NCAM-positive cells, BrdU + PSA-NCAM double-positive cells, and BrdU + MAP2 double-positive cells. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The number of BrdU-positive cells and PSA-NCAM positive cells reached the peak at 7 days after ischemia; BrdU + PSA-NCAM double-labeled-positive cells could be detected in ischemic bilateral subependymal zone and dentate gyrus, the number was the most at 7 days, then followed by a gradual decrease; the BrdU + MAP2 double-positive cells began to increase from 14 days, and then gradually increased along with the decrease of BrdU + PSA-NCAM double-positive expression, showing a reverse trend. Intravenous injection of IGF-1 can induce the proliferation, differentiation and migration of neural stem cells in rats following ischemic brain injury.

Objective To evaluate the effect of enteral nutrition by a polymeric formula in patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP).Methods Fifty-eight patients with SAP were randomly divided into polymeric group (29 cases) and semi-elemental group (29 cases),and the two groups of patients were treated in accordance with the conventional SAP management protocol, nasojejunal tube was endoscopically inserted for enteral nutrition. The polymeric group received enteral nutritional suspension (TPF),and the semi-elemental group received the same quantity of VIVONEX TEN.The gastrointestinal tolerance (VAS score),incidence of diarrhea,infection,28-day mortality rate, and length of hospital stay was evaluated.Nutritional parameters were evaluated by pre-albumin,albumin,alanine aminotransferase,C reactive protein at the time of admission and one week later. Results The two groups of patients were comparable in terms of VAS score, incidence of diarrhea,infection,28-day mortality rate, and length of hospital stay (P >0.05).And the levels of prealbumin, albumin, alanine aminotransferase,C reactive protein after admission were not statistically significant (P > 0.05).Conclusions Compared with the semi-dement formula, the price of polymeric formula is cheap, configuration is convenint, enteral nutrition is well tolerated, and it is suitable for early enteral nutrition in SAP.

Objective To investigate the value of susceptibility weighted imaging in grading brain tumors in children. Methods Twenty-eight children with surgically or pathologically proved primary brain tumor were recruited during 2010 to 201 1.All patients were scanned with conventional MRI and SWI sequences on a 1.5T or 3.0T scanner before surgery. The cases of tumors were divid-ed into low grade (9 males and 2 females)and high grade groups (10 males and 7 females),according to the WHO classification of the tumors of the central nervous system in 2007.The low-intense signals within the abnormalities on SWI images were analyzed and classified into the different shapes, including punctuate,tubular,cluster-like,linear signal, irregular patchy signal. As for the num-ber of low-intense signals,we applied the four-score system. The irregular patchy signals were considered to be artifacts of SWI, namely hemorrhage, after exclusion of the isolated veins and calcification. The differences of rate of hemorrhage and scores between the two groups in SWI were analyzed statistically. Results The low-signal scores were significantly different between two groups with higher scores in high grade tumors than in low grade tumors(P <0.001).The rate of intratumor hemorrhage was also signifi-cantly different between two groups. The rate is higher in high-grade group than low-grade group, given the fact that the hemor-rhage was showed in 2 low grade tumors (18.18%),while in 1 1 high grade tumors (76.37%)(P =0.01 5 9<0.001).Conclusion Different grades of pediatric brain tumors manifest significant difference on susceptibility weighted imaging(SWI).It may be helpful in the preoperative classification of brain tumors by analyzing the relevant signals on SWI.

Objective:The paper seeks to explore the characteristics of myeloid tumors with genetic DDX41 gene mutations, especially focusing on the understanding and treatment of acute myeloid leukemia with germline/somatic DDX41 mutation. Methods:One AML patient with germline/somatic DDX41 mutation who was diagnosed by using morphology, immunology, cytogenetics and molecular biology in Shanghai Shidong Hospital was retrospectively analyzed, and the patient was treated with lenalidomide combined with decitabine, and the literatures were reviewed. Results:The patient obtained complete remission after the therapy and there were no relevant adverse reactions to the treatment. Conclusion:The DDX41 gene mutations have effects on the prognosis and treatment of myeloid malignancies, and lenalidomide combined with decitabine is effective in acute myeloid leukemia with germline/somatic DDX41 mutation. The germline mutation status should be identified and confirmed early.

In the past ten years, the research and application of microbiome has continued to increase. The microbiome has gradually become the research focus in the fields of life science, environmental science, and medicine. Meanwhile, many countries and organizations around the world are launching their own microbiome projects and conducting a multi-faceted layout, striving to gain a strategic position in this promising field. In addition, whether it is scientific research or industrial applications, there has been a climax of research and a wave of investment and financing, accordingly, products and services related to the microbiome are constantly emerging. However, due to the rapid development of microbiome sequencing and analysis related technologies and methods, the research and application from various countries have not yet unified on the standards of technology, programs, and data. Domestic industry participants also have insufficient understanding of the microbiome. New methods, technologies, and theories have not yet been fully accepted and used. In addition, some of the existing standards and guidelines are too general with poor practicality. This not only causes obstacles in the integration of scientific research data and waste of resources, but also gives related companies unfair competition opportunity. More importantly, China still lacks national standards related to the microbiome, and the national microbiome project is still in the process of preparation. In this context, the experts and practitioners of the microbiome worked together and developed the consensus of experts. It can not only guide domestic scientific research and industrial institutions to regulate the production, learning and research of the microbiome, the application can also provide reference technical basis for the relevant national functional departments, protect the scale and standardized corporate company's interests, strengthen industry self-discipline, avoid unregulated enterprises from disrupting the market, and ultimately promote the benign development of microbiome-related industries.
