Objective To investigate the prevalence, accessory gene regulator (agr) and staphylococcal cassette chromosome mec (SCCmec, only for methicillin resistantS. aureus, MRSA) types of theS. aureus strains carrying toxic shock syndrome toxin-1 (tst) and/or panton-valentine leukocidin (pvl) genes. Methods Nine hundred and sixteen isolates ofS. aureus were collected from seven hospitals in Shanghai and Zhejiang Province and subjected to detection oftst, pvl, mecA andmecC genes by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Theagr and SCCmec (only for MRSA) types were determined in thetst orpvl gene positive isolates. Results Of the 916 isolates, 208 carriedtst gene (22.7%), 35 harboredpvl gene (3.8%), and 665 weremecA positive (MRSA). No isolate was mecC positive. Out of the 665 MRSA isolates, 198 hosted thetst gene (29.8%). The most commonagr and SCCmec types were agr 2 (97.0%) and SCCmec II (94.4%), respectively. For thepvl gene, only 14 isolates were positive (2.1%). Theagr 1 (85.7%), SCCmecIII (42.9%) and SCCmec IVa (28.6%) were the most commonagr type and SCCmec type. In the 251 methicillin-sensitiveS. aureus (MSSA) isolates, 10 carriedtst gene (4.0%) and 21 carriedpvl gene (8.4%). The prevalence oftst gene in MRSA was higher than that in MSSA, while the prevalence ofpvlgene was just the opposite. However, the prevalence ofpvlgene in MRSA isolates from Zhejiang Province was higher than that in the MRSA isolates from Shanghai (P<0.05).Conclusions The prevalence oftst gene in MRSA is signiifcantly higher than that in MSSA. The prevalence ofpvlgene is low in theS. aureus isolates studied. However, clinicians should pay close attention to these strains due to the implication of PVL toxin in some
severeS. aureus infections.

Chinese Journal of School Health 2024;45(2):300-304
Abstract
Digital eye strain can affect not only adolescents visual health, but also sleep quality. In order to provide a reference for safeguarding adolescents visual health and physical health, the paper reviews the direct correlation, feedback correlation, mediating role and the mechanisms between their digital eye strain and sleep quality, as well as proposes some strategies to reduce digital eye strain and improve sleep quality, such as screen time limits, adjusting the brightness and contrast of electronic screen devices, maintaining correct posture and viewing distance, increasing eye nutrition and protection, establishing a regular sleep routine, avoiding the use of electronic screen devices before bedtime, creating a comfortable and quiet sleep environment, and paying attention to the effects of diet and exercise.

Objective:
To observe the effects of Danggui Shaoyao powder (DSP) on hepatic lipid metabolism and further explore its mechanism of action by peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPARγ)-liver X receptor (LXRα)-adenosine triphosphate (ATP)-binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) pathway regulation.
Methods:
Eight C57BL/6J male mice were selected as the control group, and 24 ApoE−/− male mice were randomly divided into the atherosclerosis model (AS) group, atorvastatin calcium (AC) group, and DSP group (n = 8 each group). To establish an AS model, ApoE−/− mice were fed a high-fat diet for 16 weeks. Pathologic changes in the aortic vasculature and liver were identified using Oil Red O staining. Triglyceride (TG), cholesterol (TC), and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels were determined in the livers using a single-reagent GPO-PAP method. Fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction and western blot were used to observe and evaluate the mRNA and protein expression of the PPARγ-LXRα-ABCA1 intermediates in the liver.
Results:
After 16 weeks of a high-fat diet, ApoE−/− mice showed more Oil Red O staining in the aorta and liver compared to the CONT group. Compared to the AS group, the DSP and AC treatment reduced aortic plaque and hepatic lipid deposition to varying degrees. Furthermore, DSP significantly reduced the hepatic lipid area in ApoE−/− mice (P < .001) and decreased the levels of TG, TC, and LDL-C in liver (P < .001, P = .027, P < .001, respectively). DSP also significantly increased the levels of PPARγ, LXRα, ABCA1, and ABCG1 mRNA expression, as well as the PPARγ, LXRα, ABCA1, and ABCG1 protein expression in liver.
Conclusion
DSP improved hepatic lipid metabolism via PPARγ-LXRα-ABCA1 pathway modulation for AS treatment.

Humans are born under the nourishment of heaven and earth qi.The physiological and pathological functions of the human body are influenced by the alternation of cold and heat in the four seasons.Allergic diseases often occur or worsen during seasonal transitions, corresponding to the theory of the spleen dominating the end of the four seasons in traditional Chinese medicine.Splenic dysfunction disrupts the body's internal clock during seasonal transitions, making it unable to adapt to external climate changes, causing the onset or exacerbation of specific allergic symptoms. The theory of"the spleen serves as the guard"originated from Huangdi Neijing, which is a succinct summary of the role of the spleen in defending the body against external pathogens. The theory emphasizes that the spleen transports drinks and foods internally to supplement healthy qi,and regulates defensive qi externally to protect the whole body. This theory is closely linked to the seasonal changes in immune function, thereby influencing the seasonal onset of allergic diseases. This paper explores the roles of the spleen in time-based self-regulation and immune defense against seasonal allergic diseases according to the theory of"spleen serves as the grard."The dysfunction of this protective mechanism, which leads to disharmony in nutritive qi and defensive qi,internal production of phlegm-dampness,and zang-fu organs malnutrition, are the key factors causing recurrent and persistent allergic diseases during seasonal transitions. This study provides insights for elucidating the mechanisms behind seasonal allergic disease outbreaks and their prevention.
