Objective: To study the application of CT and MRI fusion technique in the diagnosis and treatment of intraocular and orbital tumors. Methods: 2D-images of 13 patients with intraocular and orbital tumors were fused by special-point registration and Iterative Local Closest Point(ILCP) method; 3D-fusion images were reconstructed by Ray Tracing method. Results: A 3D-CT-MRI fusion images of intraocular and orbital tumors were reconstructed and displayed. The CT and MRI data of intraocular and orbital tumors were displayed on the same image as a comprehensive whole, which provided a stereogram of 3D-structure of the normal and abnormal orbital tissues. Anatomical structure of the orbit was clearly visualized by 3D-CT-MRI image. Conclusion: The multi-modality fusion technique can provide more accurate and comprehensive information for clinical diagnosis of intraocular and orbital tumors, which is helpful for doctors' planning of surgical operations, clinical education and doctor-patient communication.

Objective:To examine the role of dopamine D4 receptor gene(DRD4) in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD) with/without disruptive behavior disorder(DBD) by focusing on a-521C/T SNP within the promoter region of this gene. Methods:A total of 401 DSM-Ⅳ ADHD children(including 284 trios) of Chinese Han descent were genotyped.Chi-square test and the transmission disequilibrium test(TDT) were used to test for associations in ADHD with and without DBD respectively. Results:In the comparison of ADHD with(n= 143) and without(n= 258) DBD,the-521T allele(?2 = 6.778,P= 0.009,OR= 1.485) and the TT genotype(?2 = 6.292,P= 0.012,OR= 1.729) showed higher frequency in children with ADHD and DBD simultaneously. For family based analysis,T allele of the-521C/T polymorphism was preferentially transmitted to ADHD children with comorbid DBD(n= 100,?2 = 3.868,P= 0.049),whereas no significant distortion was found in the transmission of the tested variant for ADHD without DBD(n= 184,?2 = 0.223,P= 0.637).Conclusion:Our findings suggest that the-521C/T SNP of DRD4 may contribute to the predisposition to ADHD with comorbid DBD.This study supports for the hypothesis that ADHD with comorbid DBD may be influenced by greater genetic effect compared to ADHD alone.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the response rate and adverse reactions of xeloda, an analogue of 5-fluorouracil, in the treatment of relapsed and metastatic breast cancer.
METHODSTwenty-two breast cancer patients who had recurrent and metastatic measurable foci were treated from Dec. 1999 to Feb. 2000. Xeloda was given, as a single drug, at a dose of or 2,510 mg/m2/d, bid, for two weeks followed by one week rest as one cycle, at least for one cycle in each patient.
RESULTSAmong these 22 patients, there was no complete response. Rates of partial response 8(36.4%), stable disease 10(45.5%), progressive disease 4(18.2%), and clinical benefit response (CR + PR + SD) 18(81.8%). The response rate in patients who had failed in previous chemotherapy of taxanes and/or anthracycline was 30.0%-33.3%. The common adverse reactions were hand-foot syndrome, skin pigmentation, nausea, vomiting, anorexia and fatigue. Mild-moderate anemia and leukopenia were observed in 36.4% of patients. Stomatitis, dizziness, diarrhea and chest distress were present in some. One patient developed degree IV myelosuppression. Total bilirubin and alanine transaminase (ALAT) mild elevation occurred in a few patients.
CONCLUSIONXeloda is an effective drug in the treatment of patients with relapsed and metastatic breast cancer, especially for those who have failed in chemotherapy with taxanes and/or anthracycline. Xeloda is well tolerated but has mild adverse reactions.
