OBJECTIVE:To discuss the working method for clinical pharmacists in the use of antibacterials in retinopathy surgical department. METHODS:The utilization of antibacterials in surgical department and the experience of the author in the use of antibacterials were analyzed. RESULTS & CONCLUSION:Clinical pharmacists can play an important role in the rational use antibacterials by participating in the perioperative use of antibacterials,treatment of infection cases,and sample collection etc in surgical department.

Objective To investigate knowledge, attitude, and practice of exercise for post-operative breast cancer. Methods 110 postoperative breast cancers were investigated using a self-designed questionnaire which included general condition of patients, knowledge, attitude and practice of exercise after breast surgery. Results The rate of effective response was 98%. The average rate of awareness about postoperative exercise for breast cancers was 87%, and the score of knowledge of intensity and forms of exercise was the lowest, while the announcements of post-operative exercise was the highest. All of the patients presented positive attitude toward exercise, however, some of them indicated that they couldn't insist on it. 41% exercised only in one form, 78% at a low intensity, 41% less than 3 times per week, and 74% at least 30 minutes per session. Only 7% did traditional Chinese medical exercise. Time after surgery correlated positively to general scores (r=0.40, P<0.01), kinds of exercise (r=0.41, P<0.05) and intensity of exercise (r=0.43, P<0.05). Phase of cancer correlated negatively to general scores (r=-0.37, P<0.05) and exercise time (r=-0.38, P<0.05). Conclusion The knowledge on intensity and form of exercise after operation is not popular in post-operative breast cancers.

Objective To explore the effect of α-zearalanol (α-ZAL) on β-amyloid (Aβ) induced mice and the mechanism. Methods The model was induced by intracerebroventricular injection of Aβ25-35. The mice were divided randomly into sham group, model group, estradiol benzoate (EB) group (Aβ+EB) as a positive control and α-ZAL (Aβ+α-ZAL) group. Morris water maze was used to evaluate the learning and memory ability. The levels of antioxidant enzymes and nitric oxide system in the brain tissue were detected with spectrophotometric and sotopic method. Results The escape latency was longer in the model group than in the control group (P<0.01), and was shorter in the EB group and α-ZAL group than in the model group (P<0.05). Compared with the control group, the level of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px) decreased, and the level of malonaldehyde (MDA), constitutive nitric oxide synthase (cNOS), inducible nitrous oxide synthesis (iNOS), and nitric oxide (NO) increased in the model group (P<0.05); compared with the model group, the level of SOD and GSH-Px increased, and the level of MDA, cNOS, iNOS and NO decreased in the EB group and α-ZAL group (P<0.05), except the level of SOD and cNOS in hippocampus in α-ZAL group (P>0.05). There was no significant difference between EB group and α-ZAL group (P>0.05). Conclusion α-ZAL could improve the cognitive behavior in Aβ25- 35 induced mice by increasing the antioxidant activities and decreasing the lipid peroxidation.

Objective To investigate the differences of curriculum designs for undergraduate nursing majors among different TCM colleges and universities;To provide evidence for the development of the accreditation standards for academic quality of baccalaureate degree program in TCM colleges and universities which can be used as the standards for teaching reform. Methods Cultivating plans of 20 TCM colleges and universities for undergraduate nursing majors were collected. Current status and deficiency in curriculum design were obtained through comparative study and statistical analysis.Results The course names were lack of standardization;proportion of Chinese and Western medicine related courses were unreasonable;theoretical and practice teaching were irrelevant;optional courses were greatly inconsistent and irrational. Conclusion The further reform of the curriculum design for the undergraduate nursing majors in TCM colleges and universities is in urgent need, which can be standardized by developing the accreditation standards for academic quality of baccalaureate degree program in universities of Chinese Medicine.

Objective To establish a dose-effect curve of premature condensation chromosome ring (PCC-R)in lymphocytes of human peripheral blood after exposed to high doses of Y-rays. Methods Peripheral blood samples was drawn from three healthy individuals, and exposed to 60Co γ-rays with doses between 0 and 30 Gy. The frequencies of PCC-R in premature condensation chromosome (PCC) cells obtained by Okadaic acid (OA) induction were calculated, and a dose-effect curve was fitted. Results PCC index tapered with dose. Frequencies of PCC-R per cell increased until 20 Gy, and then saturation was observed. The results were fitted to a lineal model up to 20 Gy: y = - 0.020 + 0.052D ,where y was the frequencies of PCC-R per cell, D was the radiation dose (Gy). Conclusins The highest dose could be estimated is 20 Gy by the dose-effect curve established with PCC-R method. Its utility and validity will be verified in the future application of radiation accident.

Objective To compare the image quality produced by MR high resolution vessel wall imaging (HR?VWI) and ultrasound (US) in evaluating carotid plaque load. Methods This prospective study enrolled 21 patients with carotid plaques undergoing HR?VWI and subsequent 2D US between August 2016 to January 2017 in Hebei General Hospitial. The plaque thickness (PT), lumen area (LA), wall area (WA) and total vessel area (TVA) of the plaques were measured and normalized wall index (NWI) was calculated on both HR?VWI images and US for those plaques with image quality score≥3 and matching between the two methods. The plaque load index was compared by using the independent sample t test or the non?parametric Wilcoxon test, and the correlation between the indexes was based on the Pearson test. Results Forty?five carotid plaques were matched with HR?VWI and US. There was no significant difference in PT, LA, WA, TVA and NWI detected by HR?VWI and ultrasound (P>0.05). The parameters measured by two methods were correlated (r values were 0.83, 0.85, 0.32, 0.83 and 0.59, P<0.05). Conclusion There is a good consistency between HR?VWI and conventional ultrasound in the measurement of carotid plaque load.

Objective: To investigate the effect of magnetic-induced cell targeted transplantation (MagIC-TT) on repair of bone defects in mice using therapeutic fluorescent gene labeled cells into bone tissue and its mechanism. Methods: The proliferation, apoptosis and targeted migration ability were compared between magnetized and unmagnetized murine bone marrow stromal cells labeled with green fluorescent protein (GFP-BMSCs) (n=3). GFP-BMSCs were loaded into tissue engineering bone (TEB) by MagIC-TT in the experimental group (n=5) before the TEB was transplanted into the large femur defects in the model of red fluorescent protein (RFP) transgenic mice. In the control group (n=5) TEB was not loaded with GFP-BMSCs while in the blank group (n=3) the large femur defects were only fixated with intramedullary nails. The effects and mechanism of bone repair were explored 3 months after surgery using X-ray, micro-CT, semi-solid decalcification (SSD) and histology, respectively Results: There were no significant differences between magnetized and non-magnetized GFP-BMSCs in proliferation (0.760±0.029 versus 0.733±0.033) or in survival rate (87.9%±1.0% versus 87.4%±2.0%) (P>0.05), but the mobility of magnetized GFP-BMSCs was significantly higher than that of non-magnetized GFP-BMSCs (P<0.05). The X-ray 3 months after surgery showed that the scaffolds in the experimental group were degraded and that the proximal and distal ends of the femoral defects were connected by new bone tissue. No new bone formation was found in the blank group while a small amount of bone formation was observed in the control group. The Micro-CT showed that stable new bone tissue formed in the femur defects after removal of intramedullary nails in the experimental group. The SSD showed that GFP-MSCs were densely distributed in the scaffolds with red fluorescent protein (RFP) recipient cells penetrating them, indicating involvement of both donor and recipient cells in the formation of new bone. Conclusions MagIC-TT can be used to promote introduction of therapeutic cells into bone tissue to achieve a fine effect on repairing bone defects. Dual fluorescence gene marking combined with SSD shows that both donor and recipient cells may take part in the bone repairing.
