1.Studies of Quality Control of Shiwei Shujin Huoluo Powder

Objective To set up the quality standard of Shiwei Shujin Huoluo Powder. Methods Rhizoma Polygoni cuspidati and Cortex Cinnamomi, the main ingredients of the powder, were identified by thin layer chromatography ( TLC) , and the content of emodin in the powder was detected by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) . Results The spots showed by TLC were clear without interference of the negative control. HPLC results showed that linear range of emodin was 9.30 ~ 46.52 μg·mL-1, the recovery of emodin was 96.22%, and RSD was 1.76% ( N=6) . Conclusion The established method is reliable and accurate, and can be used for quality control of Shiwei Shujin Huoluo Powder.
2.Application of interim 18 F-FDG PET-CT in lymphoma

Interim fluorine 1 8 fluorodeoxyglucose (1 8 F-FDG)positron emission tomography (PET) integrated with computed tomography (CT) provides both metabolic and morphologic information,which becomes one of the most sensitive tools to evaluate the efficacy of the therapy and predict the prognosis of patients with lymphoma.Meanwhile,it is the basis for guiding trial design and changing clinical practice.How-ever,it is still a controversial issue in the ideal utilization of interim 1 8 F-FDG PET-CT imaging for the patients with lymphoma.
3.Effect evaluation of “healthy eating plate” based dietary management for diabetic inpatients

Objective:
To evaluate the effect of "healthy eating plate" based dietary management on diabetic inpatients.
Methods:
The patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) admitted to Daishan First People's Hospital from November 2019 to November 2020 were selected and randomly divided into two groups. The intervention group was given "healthy eating plate" based dietary management, while the control group was given routine dietary management. Demographic data and physical examination results were collected. Fasting blood glucose (FPG), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC) were detected at admission, discharge and 3 months after discharge, and compared between the two groups by covariance and generalized estimating equation.
Results:
here were 52 patients aged (55.83±9.67) years in the intervention group, with 29 (55.77%) males and 23 (44.23%) females. There were 53 patients aged (57.54±11.09) years in the control group, with 32 (60.38%) males and 21 (39.62%) females. There were no significant differences in FPG, HbA1c, TG and TC levels between two groups at discharge (P>0.05). The level of HbA1c in the intervention group was significantly lower than that in the control group at 3 months after discharge (P<0.05); there were no significant differences in FPG, TG and TC levels (P>0.05).
Conclusion
The "healthy eating plate" based dietary management can better control the blood glucose of diabetic patients, and can help maintain the dietary treatment. It is worthy of promotion in diabetic patients.
4.Efficacy observation on acupuncture for diabetic gastroparesis

Objective:To observe the effect of acupuncture on gastric motility, plasma motilin and serum gastrin in patients with diabetic gastroparesis (DGP) and evaluate its clinical efficacy.
Methods:A total of 100 eligible cases were randomly allocated into an acupuncture group (n=50) and a control group (n=50). Patients in the acupuncture group were treated by needling Zhongwan (CV 12), Zusanli (ST 36) and Neiguan (PC 6), whereas patients in the control group were treated with oral administration of Domperidone. The clinical efficacies of the two groups were compared; and changes in gastric motility, plasma motilin and serum gastrin in both groups were observed before and after treatment.
Results:After treatment, the symptom scores, gastric motility and contents of plasma motilin and serum gastrin were significantly improved in both groups (P<0.05). There were between-group statistically significant differences in symptom scores, gastric motility and levels of plasma motilin and serum gastrin after treatment (allP<0.05). The total effective rate was 96% in the treatment group, versus 78% in the control group, showing a statistically significant difference (P<0.05).
Conclusion:Acupuncture is effective for DGP and can reduce the levels of plasma motilin and serum gastrin.
5.Cohort mortality study in three ceramic factories in Jingdezhen in China.

To investigate the health impacts of crystalline silica mixed dust and other potential occupational hazards on workers in ceramic factories, a cohort study of 4851 workers registered in the employment records in 3 ceramic factories in Jingdezhen city of China between 1972 and 1974 was identified. The cohort mortality was traced throughout 2003 with an accumulation of 128970.2 person-years, revealed 1542 deaths. Standardized mortality ratios (SMRs) were calculated for the main causes of death by using Chinese national mortality rates as reference. The mortality from all causes in three ceramic factories was 12.0 per thousand and the cumulative mortality was 31.8%. Malignant neoplasm, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, infectious diseases were the first four illnesses that threaten workers' life, and they accounted for 73.2% of all deaths. The results of this study showed that the standardized mortality ratio for all subjects was 1.02, which is very close to that expected on the basis of the China national mortality rates. Statistically significant mortality excesses for respiratory disease (SMR=1.36), pneumoconiosis (SMR=37.34), infectious disease (SMR=5.70) and pulmonary tuberculosis (SMR=3.88) were observed. The mortality of 2938 dust-exposed workers was higher than that of 1913 non dust-exposed workers. Except for pneumoconiosis, the mortality from lung cancer, non-malignant respiratory diseases and pulmonary tuberculosis in dust-exposed workers were significantly increased as compared with that in non-exposed workers, and the relative risks (RRs) were 1.86 (1.16-2.99), 2.50 (1.84-3.40), 1.81 (1.34-2.45). The exposure-response relationships between cumulative dust exposure level and mortality from all causes, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, respiratory diseases, and pulmonary tuberculosis were also identified. The findings indicated that silica mixed dust in ceramic factories has harmful impact on the workers' health and life span in ceramic factory.
6.Chemical constituent from fruit of Aristolochia contorta.

OBJECTIVETo study the chemical constituents of the fruit of Aristolochia contorta.
METHODThe compounds were isolated by chromatographic techniques and crystalization, the structures were elucidated by spectrum analysis.
RESULTFifteen compounds were isolated from the dry fruit of A. contorta, which were six aristolochic acids: aristolochic acid I, aristolochic acid III a, aristolochic acid IVa, aristolochic acid II, aristolochic acid III and aristolochic acid VIIa. Three aristolactams: aristololactam I, aristololactam II and aristololactam IIIa. Three phenolic acids syringic acid, vanillic acid and p-coumaric acid. Three other type compounds: pentacosane acid, beta-sitosterol and daucossterol.
CONCLUSIONAristolochic acid III, aristolochic acid VIIa, aristololactam IIIa, and penfacosane acid were isolated from A. contorta for the first time, and compounds 4-13 were isolated from the furit of A. contorta for the first time.

7.Effects of neoadjuvant chemotherapy on the quantitative expression of P-gp, LRP, MRP, GST-π in NSCLC and its clinical significance.

BACKGROUNDNeoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) plays an important role in systemic chemotherapy for non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). P-glycoprotein (P-gp), lung resistance related protein (LRP), multidrug resistance-associated protein (MRP) and glutathione S-transferase (GST-π) may be associated to drug resisitance to chemotherapy in NSCLC. The aim of this study is to investigate the expressions of P-gp, LRP, MRP and GST-π in samples from NSCLC patients before and after treatment with NACT, and their quantitative changes, so that to evaluate the influence of NACT on drug resistance to chemotherapy of NSCLC.
METHODSTotal 92 specimens from 72 cases of NSCLC, including 52 samples of surgery excision from non-NACT-treated patients and 20 paired samples before and after NACT from the same patient, were studied. The expression of P-gp, LRP, MRP and GST-π was detected with tissue chip technique and immunohistochemistry. The quantitative analysis was carried out by computer image analysis system..
RESULTSIn the samples before NACT, the positive rate of P-gp, LRP, MRP, GST-π expression was 66.67% (48/72), 72.22% (52/72), 81.94% (59/72), 83.33% (60/72), respectively. The expressive intensity of P-gp, LRP and GST-π was significantly stronger in adenocarcinoma than that in squamous cell carcinoma (P < 0.05, P < 0.001, P < 0.001, respectively); there was no significant difference in the expression of MRP between adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma (P > 0.05). In samples after treatment with NACT, the expression of P-gp, GST-π demonstrated by average optical density (AOD) and integral optical density (IOD) were significantly higher (P < 0.05, P < 0.001 respectively) than that in biopsied samples taken before NACT; The change in expression of P-gp, GST-π was also showed difference by different histopathological types, differentiations, ages, sizes, clinical stages as well as lymph node metastasis or not (P < 0.05 or P < 0.001). There was no significant difference between samples taken before and after NACT (P > 0.05) in the expression of LRP and MRP demonstrated by both of AOD and IOD.
CONCLUSIONSThe results suggest that drug resistance in adenocarcinoma is primarily stronger than that in squamous cell carcinoma. NACT may enhance acquired drug resistance of NSCLC through inducing the expression of drug resistance protein. The results indicate that acquired drug resistance must be considered with the application of NACT to NSCLC patient in clinic, especially to patient in stage I and II. Since NACT may lead to the enhancement of acquired drug resistance in stage I and II, this may dwindle the therapeutic effect of chemotherapy after surgery. Comparative examination of drug resistance proteins before and after NACT, combining with comprehensive consideration of chemical regimens of NACT, should be recommended during chemotherapy of NSCLC for both before and after surgery.

Objective To investigate the clinical application of percutaneous transluminal angioplasty(PTA)in treating dysfunctional central vein caused by tunnel-cuffed catheter(TCC)under digital subtraction angiography(DS A)guidance.Methods A total of 13 patients with indwelling TCC-related central vein complications,who were admitted to the Department of Nephrology of the Affiliated Hospital of Qingdao University of China between July 2018 and July 2022,were enrolled in this study.The average indwelling duration of TCC was 35.2 months(range of 6-70 months).The dysfunctional TCC was removed with the help of a stiff guide wire,and angiography showed that the central vein was narrowed or occluded.PT A was performed to reopen the central vein,and a new TCC was placed in situ or in another site.Results Of the 13 patients,original TCC was successfully removed in 12,and failure of removal was seen in one.The site of central venous stenosis included the right jugular vein,innominate vein,superior vena cava,and right iliac vein,and successful placement of a new TCC was accomplished in all patients after PTA,and no stent implantation was employed.The average follow-up period was 23.1 months(range of 6-48 months),and the TCC functioned well.Conclusion Under DSA guidance,the recanalization of TCC-related central venous stenosis or occlusion by PT A and the implantation of a new TCC catheter can successfully establish a new dialysis access for patients with poorly functioning TCC,in this way the lifespan of the pathway can be extended.
10.Impact of sarcopenia on short-term outcomes and long-term prognosis in cervical cancer patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy

Objective:To investigate the impact of sarcopenia on the short-term outcomes and long-term prognosis in cervical cancer patients undergoing concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CCRT).Methods:A total of 410 cervical cancer patients who received CCRT in Henan Provincial People′s Hospital between January 2017 and December 2021 were prospectively enrolled in this study. They were divided into the sarcopenia and non-sarcopenia groups based on the body muscle content measured using bioelectrical impedance analysis. Short-term outcomes were assessed according to the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST), and acute adverse reactions were assessed based on the toxicity criteria of the Radiation Therapy Oncology Group (RTOG). CCRT termination or prolonged treatment associated with various acute adverse reactions were recorded. All patients were followed up with overall survival (OS) and progression-free survival (PFS) as endpoints. Finally, the survival rate was estimated and the association between sarcopenia and PFS was analyzed.Results:Among the patients, 152 (37.1%) had sarcopenia. Compared to the non-sarcopenia group, the sarcopenia group exhibited higher incidences of grade 2 or above acute adverse reactions in the lower gastrointestinal and hematological systems, CCRT termination, or prolonged treatment. In the non-sarcopenia group, 27 deaths were recorded, with an OS of 30 (18-36) months, a 3-year OS rate of 88.7%, and a 5-year OS rate of 85.6%. In the sarcopenia group, 23 deaths were found, with an OS of 24 (15-33) months, a 3-year OS rate of 83.8%, and a 5-year OS rate of 77.7%. There was no significant difference in survival curves between both groups ( P > 0.05). In the non-sarcopenia group, 52 cases of recurrence were recorded, with a PFS of 21 (12-33) months, a 3-year PFS rate of 77.9%, and a 5-year PFS rate of 71.0%. In the sarcopenia group, 41 cases of recurrence were found, with a PFS of 15 (10.5-24) months, a 3-year PFS rate of 69.0%, and a 5-year PFS rate of 56.5%. There was a significant difference in the PFS curves between both groups ( χ2 = 5.89, P = 0.015). Multivariate Cox regression analysis identified sarcopenia as an independent risk factor for PFS ( χ2 =4.33, P = 0.037). Conclusions:Sarcopenia increases the risks of acute adverse reactions and long-term recurrence in cervical cancer patients undergoing CCRT.
