Objective To observe the preventative and curative effect of Tongxinluo on microvascular inflammatory injury and vasospasm in the cardiac muscle of streptozotocin (STZ) diabetic rats. Methods STZ rats were divided into STZ group, insulin group, Tongxinluo group, with the other 8 Wistar rats as normal control. The normal group and STZ group were intragastric administered with NS, insulin group was subcutaneous injected with insulin, and Tongxinluo group was intragastric administered with Tongxinluo suspension for 8 weeks. The sections of cardiac muscle was stained in HE staining and NF-?B immunohistochemical staining. The level of adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), tumor necrosis factor (TNF-?), endothelin-1 (ET-1), angiotensin-Ⅱ (AT-Ⅱ) in myocardial homogenate from intercellular, and level of AT-Ⅱ, neuropeptide Y (NPY) in plasma were determined, with sICAM-1 by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and the others by radioimmunoassay. The sections stained by NF-?B immunohistochemical staining were image analyzed using computer. The extent of its expression was evaluated by the mean of the density ratio of the positive side. Purpose To explore the multislice spiral CT (MSCT) features of renal chromophobe carcinoma, and to improve the understanding and diagnosis of the disease. Materials and Methods MSCT features of 17 patients with renal chromophobe carcinoma confirmed by surgical pathology were retrospectively analyzed, plain MSCT and multi-phase dynamic contrast-enhanced scan were applied to these patients. Results Single substantive round or oval-shaped soft tissue mass was demonstrated in 17 cases. The lesions were all uniform density on plain MSCT, and mild to moderate homogeneous enhancement in 11 cases on enhanced MSCT, including 9 cases with significant enhancement above the renal medulla and below the renal cortex, and 2 cases with similar enhancement to renal medulla in corticomedullary phase. On nephrographic phase the lesion showed significant lower density than renal medulla. Heterogeneous enhancement presented in 6 cased, including 1 case with small necrosis and 1 case with stellate scar lesion in low-density. Conclusion Renal chromophobe carcinoma demonstrates a round solid mass of uniform density on plain MSCT, and mild to moderate homogeneous and heterogeneous, which can provide the reference value for preoperative diagnosis.

AIM:To determine the contents of isofraxidin and rosmarinic acid in Zhongjiefeng Tablet(Sarcandra glabra(Thunb)). METHODS:HPLC was performed on Diamonsil C18 column(250 mm ? 4. 6 mm,5 ?m),the mobile phase consisted of acetonitrile-0. 1% phosphoric acid solution(80 ∶ 20) at a flow rate of 1. 0 mL/min. The column temperature was set at 35 ℃,UV detection wavelength was at 342 nm. RESULTS:Contents of isofraxidin and rosmarinic acid detecded showed good linear relation(R2 =0. 999 99,0. 999 92,respectively) and the average recoveries(n =6) of 98. 7% (RSD =2. 22% )and 96. 9% (RSD =2. 76% ). CONCLUSION:The method is fea-sible,accurate and reliable,thereby available for quality control.

Objective:This study was to study effect of keeping ying and weiqi in balance on cardiac muscular collagen Ⅰ,collagen Ⅲ,angiotensinⅡ in spontaneous diabetes rats,and provide new thoughts for prevention and treatment for diabetic cardiomyopathy.Methods:40 spontaneous diabetes rats were divided into four groups at random:spontaneous diabetes control group,diformin group,Guizhi Decoction group and Huanglian Jiedu Decoction group.Except control group,each group was given intragastric administration for 12weeks.Blood glucose,collagenⅠ,collagen Ⅲ,collagenⅠ/collagen Ⅲ,angiotensin Ⅱ were determined.Euzymelinked immunosorbent assay and radio-immuniy method were used.Results:Blood glucose in Huanglian Jiedu Decoction group and diformin group decreased;Compared respectively with diformin group and control group,collagenⅠdecreased obviously and collagen Ⅲ increased signifi cantly in Guizhi Decoction group,and the collagenⅠ/collagen Ⅲ decreased.Compared with diformin group and control group,cardiac muscular homogenate AT-Ⅱ contents decreased in both of Guizhi Decoction group and Huanglian Jiedu Decoction group.Conclusion:Guizhi Decoction can decrease the content of collagen Ⅰ,AT-Ⅱ and collagenⅠ/collagen Ⅲin cardiac muscular,and increase content of collagen Ⅲ,then prevent and treat cardiac muscular collagen reconstruction and myocardial fibrosis.Huanglian Jiedu Decoction can decrease the content of AT-Ⅱ,and decrease collagenⅠ/ collagen Ⅲ,collagenⅠ slightly,and can improve cardiac muscular collagen reconstruction.Keeping ying and weiqi in balance is a new thought for prevention and treatment for diabetic cardiomyopathy.

Objective To study the effects of endolymphatic sac decompression and on semicircular canal plugging in treating intractable Meniere's disease.Methods A total of 14 cases of intractable Meniere's disease were included in this study.The age was from 33~67 years old and the history was from 1 to 40 years.The hearing level of bone was from 35 to 65 dB for the speech frequencies.All cases received the treatments according to the pre-op-erative design.The endolymphatic sac was decompressed and the three semicircular canal bones were drilled to cre-ate a fenestra followed by soft tissue plugging into the canal.The vertigo,hearing level and tinnitus were included in the following up.Results All cases had no facial palsy,no cerebrospinal leak,and no vertical after surgery.In the period of 3 to 18 months following up,the attack of Meniere's disease was completely controlled for 13 cases excep-tion of one lost case.For five cases,the hearing level descended 10 to 15 dB compared to pre-operation.Conclusion Although the endolymphatic sac decompression can relieve endolymphatic pressure,this may not adequately pro-tect the hearing caused by the semicircular canal plugging.The surgical technique is reliable and safe;however fur-ther clinical data should be gathered.

Aim To explore the protective effect of ac-tive components of Xiaoxuming decoction ( XXMD ) on focal cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury in rats dur-ing early recovery period .Methods The ischemia and reperfusion of middle cerebral artery model rats were established by nylon wire with 2 hours ischemic time on healthy male SD rats .The models of MCAO were eval-uated by Zea-Longa′s standard score .The model rats were randomly divided into sham operation group , the ischemia/reperfusion model group , the active compo-nents group of Xiaoxuming decoction and the positive group (extract of ginkgo biloba leaves EGb 761).Rats were orally administrated with different drugs 24 h after operation for up to 14 days, once a day.The effect of active components of Xiaoxuming decoction on behavior changes of MCAO rats in different recovery period was evaluated by a series of behavioral assessent methods such as modified neurological severity scores and cor-ner test.The infarct volume was observed by TTC stai-ning.Moreover, the contents of MDA and the activities of GSH-Px, SOD and NOS in the penumbra and core tissues of rat brain were detected by spectrophotometric method.Results Compared with the I/R model group, the active components group of XXMD could significantly alleviate the neurological deficit scores with prolonged administration . The motion function tended to be normal , stayed longer on the balance beam, sensory function gradually restored sensitivity , reduced the radio of turning to the right .Among them , compared with model group , the active components of XXMD could effectively improve the neurological dys-function after five days of administration ( P<0.05, P<0.01).Meanwhile, the active components of Xiaox-uming decoction could significantly reduce the infarct volume percentage in the cerebral tissue on post opera-tion day 5 and 14(P<0.01).In addition, the active components of XXMD could reduce the content of MDA and the activity of NOS , increase the activity of SOD and GSH-Px.Conclusion The active components of XXMD can generate neuroprotective effect in early stage of recovery and may play a major role in regula-ting the level of oxidative stress in rat brain .

Objective To investigate imaging findings of lung injury after seawater drowning.Methods The imaging data in 12 cases with seawater drowning treated in our hospital in the past 8 years were analyzed retrospectively.Results After 2 to 12 hours of leaving the water,the initial chest X-ray examinations or CT scans were taken.The initial X-ray films displayed the lung markings increase,the small patch shadows or wide distribution patch shadows.CT showd large ground-glass density,diffuse patchy or flocculus shadows and different degress of emphysema in bilateral lung.Most of the foci were absorbed obviously in 1 to 3 days.In 1 case,the focus formed pulmonary abscess later.Conclusion X-ray and CT examinations can clearly show the severity and changes of lung damage in seawater submersion victims,and that can provide important informations for clinical diagnosis and treatment.

Aim To investigate the effects and possible mechanisms of kaemperol in the rats with chronic cere-bral ischemia.Methods Chronic cerebral hypoperfu-sion model was produced by permanent occlusion of bi-lateral common carotid arteries (2VO)in rats.After KAE treatment,the rats underwent Morris water maze and prehensile traction test.Neuronal morphology was observed using Nissl and HE staining.The activity of SOD and the content of MDA in brain tissue were de-termined.The DJ-1 protein expression was assayed by Western blot.Results Compared with 2VO model group,KAE significantly improved learning and memo-ry and the grasping ability.In addition,KAE signifi-cantly reduced brain tissue pathological injury induced by 2VO. Furthermore, KAE significantly increased SOD activity and enhanced antioxidant protein DJ-1 ex-pression in brain tissue.Conclusions KAE could sig-nificantly attenuate the cognitive impairment,limb bal-ance dysfunction and pathological injury in rats with chronic cerebral ischemia.The mechanism may be re-lated to improving the antioxidant system in vivo.

AIM: To investigate the relationship between galectin-3 (Gal-3) and myocardial fibrosis, and to clarify the role of Gal-3 in ventricular remodeling in rabbits with ischemic cardiac insufficiency.METHODS: A rabbit model of ischemic cardiac insufficiency was established by ligation of the anterior descending branch of the coronary artery.The 20 rabbits were randomly divided into sham operation group and cardiac insufficiency group by random number table method.After 4 weeks of coronary artery ligation, the cardiac function was measured by cardiac echocardiogram.Real-time PCR and Western blot were used to detect the expression of Gal-3, type I collagen and type III collagen at mRNA and protein levels in the myocardium.The serum Gal-3 contents were measured by ELISA.HE staining and Masson staining were used to observe the degree of fibrosis development in myocardial tissues after infarction.RESULTS: Compared with sham operation group, the mRNA expression of Gal-3 in cardiac insufficiency group was significantly increased.At the same time, type I collagen, type III collagen and collagen type I/III ratio were also increased significantly.The protein contents of Gal-3, type I collagen and type III collagen were increased significantly.The serum Gal-3 levels were significantly increased.The pathological changes were observed in cardiac insufficiency group as the myocardial cell morphological disorder and marked hyperplasia of fibrous tissue were seen.CONCLUSION: Gal-3 aggravates myocardial fibrosis in rabbits with ischemic cardiac insufficiency, and promotes the ventricular remodeling and the occurrence of heart failure.
