Objective To investigate the changes of soft and hard tissues after extraction space closure with micro-screw implant as orthodontic anchorage. Methods Twenty cases were selected randomly with the first premolars extraction. Micro-screw implant was used as orthodontic anchorage. Sliding technique was used to close the extraction space. The lateral cephalograms before and after the treatment were evaluated. Results The upper incisors moved 7. 15 mm palatelly, 1. 63 mm intruded. The upper first molar moved 0. 80 mm distally, 1. 80 mm intruded. The lower incisors moved 4. 65 mm distally, 0.48 mm extruded. The lower first molar moved 0. 18 mm mesially, 1.18 mm extruded. A point, B point, upper lip, lower lip showed distal movement. Conclusions Micro-screw implant can provide acceptable and reliable anchorage in the process of extraction space closure, and improve the profile. Besides, it produces skeletal change on the maxilla.

Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 2000;0(06):-
The vitamin B 12 Productivity of 14 marine bacterial strains isolated from the China Sea was determined microbiologically using Escherichia coli 113 3. Tests were made on the culturing media and culture conditions for Vitamin B 12 production. The results showed that the culturing medium in which the extract from soybean cake with seawater and some nutriments were added was suitable to recognize further some marine Vitamin B 12 producing bacterial strains. The medium with appropriate cobalt chloride and some salts added may be useful for Vitamin B 12 biosynthesis. The PH value of the fermentation for the testing strains was raised with the lapse of time for fermentation. A better Vitamin B 12 production may be obtained by keeping the fermentation liquid slightly basic till about 96h. No.2627 strain in all the strains tested showed well in the productivity. The mixed cultivation of some strains (including No.2627 strain) tested often has potentiality and superiority for Vitamin B 12 production.

Objective To evaluate the anatomical basis and techniques in laparoscopic liver resections. Methods Entered the study there were 16 patients with both their lesions located at liver margin, or the surface of the right liver, or left liver and their liver functions classified as Child B or above, including 8 cases of primary liver cancer, 3 cases of liver hemangioma, 1 case of cholangiocarcinama, 1 case of hepatic adenoma, 1 case of focal nodular hyperplasia, 1 case of liver abscess and 1 case of infected liver cyst. The procedures were performed, via 4~6 epigastric ports, by using electriccautery, ultracision or endo-cutter for transecting liver and by titanic clip or medical albumin glue for dealing with the cut surface. Results Laparoscopic liver resection was completed under pneumoperitoneum in 16 cases (18 lesions), including 8 cases of local liver resection and 8 cases of anatomical left liver resection. The operation time was (206?75) min and the blood loss was (354?282) ml. An intraoperative blood transfusion of 800 ml was required in 2 cases because of a blood loss of 1000 ml. The abdominal drains were left for (2~4) days and no bile leakage, bleeding or other complications happened. The postoperative hospital stay was (5.8?1.6) days. Conclusions Proper dealing with hepatic portal vessels is the key to the laparoscopic liver resection. In order to effectively control the bleeding during the partial hepatectomy or left hemihepatectomy, it is crucial to fully dissect the sub-grade hepatic portal vessels.

Journal of Practical Stomatology 1996;0(02):-
Objective: To investigate the cephalometric parameters related with anterior overbite. Methods: 144 patients with malocclusion in permanent dentition (74 skeletal Class I and 70 skeletal Class II) were recruited into the study. Cephalometric analysis was performed from pre-orthodontic lateral headfilm in natural head position. Both linear correlation analysis and stepwise regression analysis were respectively performed in the two groups. Results: In the stepwise regression equation of Class I group, the larger the overjet, posterior facial height and upper incisor height, or the smaller the lower facial height and lower molar height, the deeper the anterior overbite was. In the 70 Class II, the larger the overjet, interincisal angle and inclination of lower incisors, or the smaller the mandibular angle and upper molar height, the deeper the anterior overbite was. The equations could explain 75.8% and 62.3% overbite variations, respectively. Of all the parameters, overjet took the most important part in maintaining a normal and stable anterior overbite. Conclusion: Those cephalometric parameters correlated with anterior overbite can be both dental and skeletal. They may compensate each other to maintain stable anterior overbite. Of them, anterior overjet may be the main factor.
