Background: There is no gold standard for the diagnosis and monitoring of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).As immune system plays crucial role in the pathogenesis of IBD,some immune-specific serum antibodies are considered to be useful tools for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of the disease.Aims: To investigate the clinical significance of serum antibodies, including anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibody (ASCA) and perinuclear anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (pANCA) in IBD.Methods: Serum samples were obtained from 91 consecutive IBD patients from Feb.2015 to May 2016 at the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University.Of them,52 were Crohn's disease (CD) and 39 were ulcerative colitis (UC).Serum samples of 36 non-IBD patients were served as controls.ASCA-IgG and ASCA-IgA were detected by ELISA,and pANCA by indirect immunofluorescence assay.Using clinical diagnosis as gold standard, crosstabs statistics was performed to measure the diagnostic accuracy of ASCA and pANCA,and ROC curve,Pearson Chi-square test and Fisher's exact test were employed for analyzing the correlations of these two serum antibodies with IBD,CD,UC,and the location of the disease. Results: Both serum ASCA-IgG and IgA were correlated with CD (AUC=0.626 and 0.614),while UC was correlated with ASCA-IgA only (AUC=0.486).Serum pANCA had relevance to IBD (r=0.342),CD (r=-0.262) and UC (r=0.614);its sensitivity and specificity for IBD and UC were superior to those for CD (P<0.05).In CD patients,ASCA-IgG was associated with terminal ileal disease (P<0.05),and pANCA was associated with colonic involvement (P<0.05).In UC patients, both ASCA-IgG and IgA were correlated with terminal ileal disease (P<0.05).Conclusions: Serum ASCA and pANCA may be helpful for discrimination between CD and UC when the diagnosis of IBD is established.Furthermore, they are closely associated with the disease location,ASCA is related with the terminal ileal disease and pANCA is related with colonic involvement.

A molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) using benzoic acid as template molecule, 4-vinyl pyridine (4-VP) as functional monomer, ethylene dimethacrylate (EDMA) as cross-linker, was prepared by bulk polymerization. The needle-type gas concentrator was developed using the MIP as adsorption medium. The device was coupled with gas chromatography (GC) for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The effect of polymerization conditions on adsorption property, such as polymerization time, ratio of the reagents, pre-polymerization time, type of solvents, type of template molecules, has been evaluated. The results of gas chromatographic analysis demonstrated that the optimum conditions for getting the best adsorption performance of the synthesized were polymerization time 6 h at 60 ℃, the ratio of the reagents (template molecule : functional monomer : cross-linker) 1∶ 4∶ 20, pre-polymerization time of 3 h, acetonitrile as solvent, benzoic acid as template.

OBJECTIVE:
To describe and analyze the clinical features of nasal respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartom and improve the levels of diagnosis and treatment.
METHOD:
Fourteen cases of nasal respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartom confirmed by pathology were collected and analyzed.
RESULT:
In 14 cases, primary complaint of Hyposmia(or Anosmia)and nasal obstruction were occured in 13 and 11 cases respectively. Four cases had past history of endoscopic sinus surgery because of the diagnosis of nasal polyps. Polypoid neoplasms could be seen in the bilateral olfactory clefts. Sinus CT showed soft tissue shadows in bilateral nasal cavity and mucous membrane thickening in different sinus. Endoscopic sinus surgery were utilized to eliminate focus in all cases. All cases weren t recurred after 2-20 months' following-up visitings.
CONCLUSION
Nasal respiratory epithelial adenomatoid hamartom is so rare that clinical and pathological doctors have limited knowledge of it. It has its own characteristics from the clinical symptoms, signs to sinus CT although they are nonspecific. So we should improve the understanding about it to avoid misdiagnosis or missed diagnosis.

Objective:To investigate the short-term therapeutic effect and long-term survival of multiple myeloma patients with extramedullary disease (EMD) in the new drug era. Methods:The data of 74 patients with multiple myeloma diagnosed and treated in Anhui Wanbei Coal and Electricity Group General Hospital from January 2015 to January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed, including 17 patients with soft tissue infiltration (EM-S), 9 patients with bone infiltration (EM-B), and 48 patients without EMD (No-EMD). The short-term efficacy, the 4-year progression-free survival (PFS) rate and overall survival (OS) rate, and their influencing factors in three groups of patients after receiving bortezomib regimen were analyzed. Results:After 3-4 courses of early induction therapy of bortezomib regimen, the overall response rate of patients in the EM-S group was lower than that in the No-EMD group and the EM-B group [58.8% (10/17) vs. 85.4% (41/48), 100.0% (9/9)], and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2 = 13.7, P = 0.036; χ2 = 26.5, P = 0.003), while the difference between No-EMD group and EM-B group was not statistically significant ( χ2 = 12.7, P = 0.211). Survival analysis showed that the 4-year PFS rate of No-EMD group was higher than that of the EM-S group and EM-B group (41.0% vs. 7.6%, 0), and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2 = 10.835, P < 0.01; χ2 = 8.276, P = 0.004). Meanwhile, the 4-year OS rate of EM-S group was lower than that of the No-EMD group and EM-B group (16.5% vs. 54.3%, 59.3%), and the differences were statistically significant ( χ2 = 9.146, P = 0.002; χ2 = 4.066, P = 0.044). Conclusion:The early treatment effect of bortezomib regimen, PFS and OS in multiple myeloma patients with EM-S are poor, while the EM-B has no effect on OS.

OBJECTIVETo clone calmodulin (CaM) gene in Eleutherococcus senticosus, and study the effect of endophytic fungi on expression amount of CaM gene.
METHODThe CaM full length cDNA sequence was cloned by rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE). The gene was analyzed and corresponding structure and functions were predicted by the bioinformatics methods. The expression amount of CaM gene affected of endophytic fungus P116-1a, P116-1b, P1094 and P312-1 was detected by RT-PCR.
RESULTThe full length of CaM cDNA was 856 bp containing an ORF of 450 bp that encoded a protein of 149 amino acids. The homologous of predicted protein was almost 100% with plants like Panax ginseng and Daucus carota. RT-PCR results showed that endophytic fungus improved CaM expression amount significantly (P<0.05). The highest expression amount of CaM occurred 90 d after reinoculated with endophytic fungi P1094, up to 2.96 times of the control.
CONCLUSIONThe CaM gene of E. senticosus was successfully cloned for the first time. The results demonstrated that endophytic fungus of E. senticosus improved CaM expression amount significantly.
