Objective To investigate the differences of curriculum designs for undergraduate nursing majors among different TCM colleges and universities;To provide evidence for the development of the accreditation standards for academic quality of baccalaureate degree program in TCM colleges and universities which can be used as the standards for teaching reform. Methods Cultivating plans of 20 TCM colleges and universities for undergraduate nursing majors were collected. Current status and deficiency in curriculum design were obtained through comparative study and statistical analysis.Results The course names were lack of standardization;proportion of Chinese and Western medicine related courses were unreasonable;theoretical and practice teaching were irrelevant;optional courses were greatly inconsistent and irrational. Conclusion The further reform of the curriculum design for the undergraduate nursing majors in TCM colleges and universities is in urgent need, which can be standardized by developing the accreditation standards for academic quality of baccalaureate degree program in universities of Chinese Medicine.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of Astragalus membranaceus (AM), Angelica sinensis (AS) and their combination on human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) proliferation and cells cycle.

METHODSThe effects were observed and studied by means of taking the cultured HUVECs as model to determine the cell proliferation with MTT method, cell cycle was analyzed with cytometry, and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) expression with SABC method. The regulatory effects of AM, AS and their combination on the HUVEC proliferation promoting were observed and studied.

RESULTSAM and AS, used singly or in combination, could promote the growth of endothelial cells, increase the cell population in S phase, the effects showed more significant when used in combination (P < 0.05 or P < 0.001). Meanwhile, VEGF expression in all the medicated group was up-regulated, but in the PBS control group, it showed only weak expression (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONAM and AS have effect in promoting vascular endothelial cell proliferation and DNA synthesis, and showed synergistic effect when they were used in combination, suggesting that these two Chinese herbs could have certain effect on the genesis and development of neogenetic vascularization in ischemic myocardium.

Objective To examine the status of self-perceived burden in patients with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis and explore the relationships among social support,coping styles and self-perceived burden.Methods 103 elderly patients with peritoneal dialysis of outpatient follow-up were recruited.They were investigated using Self-Perceived Burden Scale,Social Support Rating Scale,and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire.Results The total score of self-perceived burden was at a moderate level and the average score was (36.67±3.67).The total score of social support,the average score of positive coping and negative coping were (40.27±5.83),(1.69±0.26),(1.80±0.40),then the difference was statistically significant when compared with domestic norm (34.56±3.73),(1.78±0.52),(1.59±0.66) (P＜0.05).The analysis found that self-perceived burden was negatively correlated with positive coping styles,social support and each dimension (r =-0.239,-0.668,-0.725,-0.252,-0.647,P＜0.05).Conclusions Medical personnel should inspire elderly patients to make full use of social resources and guide them to take positive attitude to deal with dialysis event.It would help them maintain well psychological condition for a long time and reduce the self-perceived burden of patients.

Objective To evaluate the mechanical homogeneity pattern of isolated carotid atherosclerotic plaque intima on longitudinal axis view using ultrasonic velocity vector imaging.Methods Fourty six patients with 48 isolated plaques were undergone the high frequency ultrasound scanning,the real-time two-dimensional longitudinal-axis gray scale view at the maximal thickness of the plaque was obtained in three complete cardiac cycles.A dedicated velocity vector imaging(ⅤⅤⅠ)workstation was used for the off-line dynamic two-dimensional gray-scale image analysis and mechanics parameter(i.e.,the peak strain and the absolute difference of the peak strain)assessment at the sites of the upper,middle and down stream separately.The length and direction distribution of the velocity vectors at the carotid atherosclerotic plaque intima were observed.Wilcoxon test was utilized for the comparison of the peak strain and the absolute difference of the peak strain between two sites.Results The chaos phenomenon of velocity vector distribution at the sites of plaque intima occurred significantly differed from those uniform velocity vectors at the reference sites.According to the two groups of the higher strain value side and the lower strain value side on the upper stream and the down stream of the plaque intima,the peak strain at the higher strain value side was significantly higher than the lower strain value side(P=0.000).There was a significantly difference between the absolute difference of peak strain from the higher strain value side to the middle stream point of the plaque intima and the absolute difference of peak strain from the lower strain value side to the higher strain value side of the plaque intima(P＜0.017).Conclusions The length and direction distribution of velocity vectors of the isolated carotid atherosclerotic plaque intima on longitudinal axis view are uneven,the mechanical heterogeneity pattern exists at the plaque intima and could be visualized and quantitatively evaluated using ultrasonic velocity vector imaging.

We pay attention to impart specialty knowledge and learning methods to students. Its aim was to increase teaching effects and meet the demands of bioengineering specialty and qualified personal training in 21 century.

OBJECTIVETo observe effects of treatment from the lung and treatment from the intestine on the level of vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) in the lung and intestine of ulcerative colitis (UC) rats.

METHODSThe UC rat model was established in 52 rats by using rabbit intestine mucosa tissue allergen combined TNBS-ethanol model (with the model successful rate of 78.0%). Eight rats randomly selected from 40 successfully modeled rats and 8 of 16 rats from the normal group were recruited as the model group and the normal control group before intervention (at week 0). The rest 32 successfully modeled rats were randomly divided into the model group, the Western medicine treatment group (salazosulfapyridine), the treatment from lung group (Huangqi Jiegeng Decoction), and the treatment from intestine group (Huangqi Huanglian Decoction), 8 in each group. Rats in each treatment group were administered with corresponding medication 8 times the dose of a 60 kg adult human. Another 8 normal rats were recruited as the normal group. Equal volume of pure water was given to rats in the model group and the normal group by gastrog avage, once per day. Contents of VIP in the lung tissue and the intestinal tissue were detected at week 0 and 4 after 4-week consecutive intervention. Pathomorphological changes of the lung tissue and the colon tissue were observed under light microscope.

RESULTSCompared with the normal control group at week 0, evenly distributed diffuse inflammation could be seen in the pulmonary interstitial tissue; the bronchial wall was thickened; a huge amount of infiltration surrounded bronchi and blood vessels; a large area of necrosis of intestinal mucosa and inflammatory cell infiltration could also be seen in the model group. Pathological injuries of the lung and the colon were more alleviated in each treatment group than in the model group at the same time point. Compared with the normal control group at the same time point, VIP contents in the lung tissue significantly decreased in the model group at the end of week 4 (P<0.05); VIP contents in the colon tissue significantly increased in the model group at the end of week 0 and 4 (P <0.05). Compared with the model group, VIP contents in the lung tissue significantly increased in the Western medicine treatment group and the treatment from lung group at the end of week 4 (P<0.01); VIP contents in the colon tissue significantly decreased in the treatment from lung group and the treatment from intestine group (P<0.05, P<0.01).

CONCLUSIONTreatment from the lung and treatment from the intestine showed predominant advantage in improving local inflammation of the lung and the intestinal tract, alleviating pathological injuries, promoting repair of injuries through regulating VIP contents in the lung tissue and the colon tissue.

Objective:To systematically review parents ′ experience of caring for children with chronic kidney disease (CKD) to fully understand care needs and improve the psychological state and caregiving quality of parents. Methods:The qualitative studies on parents ′ experience of caring for children with CKD were retrieved from following databases, including PubMed, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, CBM, and WanFang Data from inception to March 2020. The quality of included researches was evaluated according to the JBI Critical Appraisal Tool for qualitative studies in Australia. The results were integrated by pooled integration methods. Results:A total of 14 studies were included. 69 results were summarized and integrated to form 10 categories. These categories extracted 4 integrated results: parents' physical and mental condition are affected, relationship between parents and their support system has changed, reconstruction of parents ′ life, unmet care needs and problems. Conclusions:Parents are crucial to the disease management of children with CKD, so clinical medical staff should not only provide medical services for children, but also pay more attention to the psychological status and needs of parents, so as to provide guidance and support to promote parents to better implement care and disease management for children.

Objective To demonstrate the diffusion tensor imaging(DTI)characteristics of multiple sclerosis(MS)plaques,periplaque white matter regions and normal appearing white matter (NAWM)regions in patients with MS,and to evaluate the clinical values of DTI and three-dimensional brain fiber tracking for the diagnosis of MS.Methods Conventional MRI and DTI were performed in 32 patients with MS and 32 age-matched control subjects.Fractional anisotropy(FA)and apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)maps were generated and coregistered with T_2-weighted MR images,FA and ADC values were calculated in regions of interest in plaques,periplaque white matter regions,NAWM regions and white matter regions in control subjects.And three-dimensional brain fiber tracking maps were generated by using the DTI.Results TheADCwas(1.233?0.119)?10~(-3)mm~2/s in MS plaques,(0.973?0.098)?10~(-3) mm~2/s in periplaque white matter regions,(0.748?0.089)?10~(-3)mm~2/s in NAWM,and(0.620? 0.094)?10~(-3)mm~2/s in control subjects.The FA was 0.225?0.052 in MS plaques,0.311?0.050 in perip]aque white matter regions,0.421?0.070 in NAWM,and 0.476?0.069 in control subjects. OBJECTIVETo explore Chinese medical theory of Fei and Dachang being interior-exteriorly correlated by observing changes of inherent immune response and acquired immune response in the lung tissue and the intestinal tissue of ulcerative colitis (UC) model rats and the intervention of Chinese compounds (CM).

METHODSSeventy rats were randomly divided into 5 groups, i.e., the normal control group (n = 10), the model group (n = 15), the treatment 1 group (n = 15, treated from Fei), the treatment 2 group (n = 15, treated from the intestine), and the Western medicine (WM) group [n = 15, treated with Sulfasalazine (SASP). Except those in the normal control group, the UC rat model was prepared by allergizing colon mucosa combined with TNBS-alcohol (50%) enema, and then intervened by medication (treated with CM complex prescription of treatment from lung, CM complex prescription of treatment from intestine, and SASP). After intragastric administration for 4 weeks, rats were sacrificed and samples taken. The expression of tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) and IL-8 contents in the lung tissue, the intestinal tissue, and the serum were detected by radioimmunoassay. Serum MedCAM-1 contents were detected using ELISA. Changes of the expression of Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4), nuclear factor κB (NF-κB), neutrophil migration inhibition factor (MIF), mucosal addressin cell adhesion molecule-1 (MadCAM-1) mRNA in the lung tissue and the intestinal tissue were detected by real time PCR.

RESULTSCompared with the normal control group, the expression levels of TNF-α, TLR4 mRNA, IL-8, MIF mR- NA, and MadCAM-1 mRNA obviously increased in the model group (P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, the expression levels of TNF-α, TLR4 mRNA, IL-8, MIF mRNA, and MadCAM-1 mRNA obviously decreased in the treatment 1 and 2 groups (P < 0.01). The expression of MadCAM-1 mRNA in the intestinal tissue was obviously higher in the model group than in the normal control group (P < 0.01), while the expressions of TNF-α and NF-κB mRNA was obviously lower in the model group than in the normal control group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Compared with the model group, the expression of MadCAM-1 mRNA all significantly deceased in each treatment group (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Serum TNF-α contents were higher in the model group than in the normal control group (P < 0.05). Compared with the model group, serum TNF-α contents could be lowered in the treatment 1 and 2 groups (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONSThe main mechanisms of the intestinal injury in this UC model might be related with activation of acquired immune response, accompanied with lowered functions of inherent immune response. The main mechanisms of the lung injury in this UC model might be related acquired immune response and inherent immune response. Treatment from Fei and treatment from Dachang both could obviously improve the immunodissonance of Fei and Dachang, indicating the special relation between the lung tissue and the intestinal tissue, thus providing experimental evidence for Chinese medical theory of Fei and Dachang being interior-exteriorly correlated.
