Objective To evaluate the value of 3.0T susceptibility-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (SWI) in the diagnosis of cerebrovascular malformations. Methods Forty-six patients with cerebrovascular malformations, admitted to our hospital fiom May 2008 to December 2010, were examined with a 3.0T MR scanner. All patients were examined with MRI conventional sequences T1WI,T2WI, 3DTOF, and their results were compared with SWI sequence so as to evaluate the value of SWI in the diagnosis of cerebrovascular malformations. Results Twenty-five patients had arteriovenous malformation (AVM), 10 with cavernous hemangioma, 8 with venous malformations, and 3 with telangiectasis in the 46 patients with cerebrovascular malformations. SWI could delineate all the cerebrovascular malformation lesions, especially small lesions, but could not display all supplying artery in AVM. 3DTOF was a better technique in delineating large AVM lesions. Conclusion SWI is much more sensitive in showing small cerebrovascular malformations; and combined with other MR sequences, clear diagnosis of cerebral vascular malformations can be made by SWI.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the feasibility and safety of visualized acupotomy.
METHODSThe ultrasound-guided acupotomy was applied to 52 cases of soft tissue injury and osteoarthropathy. Visual Analog Scale (VAS) was adopted. VAS score was observed before and after treatment. The modified knee joint scale of hospital for special surgery (HSS) and Constant-Murley shoulder function scale were used to assess the joint function of patients with arthritis of knee and periarthritis of shoulder.
RESULTSAfter treatment, VAS score was improved apparently as compared with that before treatment (6.560 +/- 0.893 vs 1.058 +/- 0.857, P < 0.05). The curative rate after one treatment was 48.1% (25/52) and the total effective rate was 98.1% (51/52). After treatment, HSS and Constant-Murley scores were improved apparently (both P < 0.05). In follow-up, the complications were not discovered, such as infection and nerve injury.
CONCLUSIONThe ultrasound-guided acupotomy is the safe and effective therapy for soft tissue injury and osteoarthropathy and this therapy deserves to be promoted in clinical practice.

Objective: To study the expression of CD44 in pulmonary tuberculosis patients and explore the possible mechanisms. Methods: 236 patients suspected with pulmonary tuberculosis were selected and divided into pulmonary tuberculosis group ( n= 152) and non-pulmonary tuberculosis group ( n= 84), and 100 healthy people were randomly selected as healthy control group. The expression of CD44 was evaluated by qRT-PCR and ELISA in peripheral blood and pleural effusion from different patients. The CD44 levels at pre and post-treatment time points were determined by ELISA. The inducing factors of increased CD44 and the potentialroles played by CD44 in the pathogenesis of TB were also evaluated. We elucidated whether CD44 detection could combine with T-spot. TB to diagnose pulmonary tuberculosis rapidly and accurately. Results: The expression of CD44 in pulmonary tuberculosis patients was higher compared with the non-pulmonary tuberculosis patients and healthy people, and would be down-regulated after treatment for 3, 6 and 9 months. Besides, CD44 could not remove H37 Ra by the CFU assay, and could promote the expression of CCL-2, indicating that CCD4 promote the mobility the THP-1 via induction of CCL-2. Besides, TNF-α neutralizing antibody, added into the macrophages, could inhibit the expression of CD44, and functional TNF-α induced the expression of TNF-α. Conclusion: CD44 is highly expressed in pulmonary tuberculosis patients, which may be due to the high expression of TNF-α in pulmonary tuberculosis patients, stimulating macrophages to produce CD44, and it will provide a basis for clinical diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Background The integration of segregated pathways from the two eyes first appears in V1 neurons, where it not only plays a critical role in the generation of a three-dimensional visual representation.Abnormal visual experiences in critical period usually lead to amblyopia and binocular integration defects. Objective Present study was to investigate how neurons of kitten coordinate their activity patterns in response to synchronous dichoptic stimulus inputs in striate cortex. Methods Spike rate and local field potential(LFP) gamma band(20-90Hz) power of three kitten(1-1.2Kg,8-10 weeks old) to monocular and synchronous dichoptic presented gratings were assessed for 28 binocular neurons in V1 of kitten by in vivo extracellular record method under anaesthesia and paralysis.Ocular dominance index(ODI) and binocular integration index(BII) were assessed and the correlation between these two indexes were analyzed. Results In 28 cells with binocular characteristic, the absolute value of spike-ODI was significant larger than that of LFP-ODI(t=2.606,P=0.021).A positive linear correlation between the ocular preferences of spike and LFP was found(R2=0.513,F=27.423,P=0.003).In dichotic trails, binocular facilitation with BII for spike was 2.348±0.996,showing a significant reduce in comparison with BII for LFP(3.678±1.974)(t=2.671,P=0.019).Binocular integration index for two signals were greater when monocular responses of both eyes were similar(P=0.035 and P=0.124,respectively).Conclusion Both spike rate and gamma band power of LFP exhibited binocular facilitation to synchronous presented dichotic stimuli with significant facilitation induced by balanced monocular responses.Spiking activity and LFP reflect neural activities of different spatial scales and source components.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2008;28(3):345-347
OBJECTIVETo study the segmentation methods of the liver CT images and the value of 3-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the liver in the planning of hepatic surgery.
METHODSThe 2D Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) format data of the liver obtained from healthy volunteers were transformed into bmp format image, and the liver image segmentation was performed using Photoshop software. The 3D model was reconstructed using MIMICS software.
RESULTSThe DICOM format data of the liver obtained by 64 slice spiral CT included totally 658 slice images. The segmented liver image showed clear profiles and complete intrahepatic duct data were reserved. The segmented liver images were free of discontinuation during continuous observation. The liver surface and internal ductal system, including the hepatic arteries and veins, and the hepatic portal system and their branches, were represented clearly. The reconstructed liver allowed clear identification of the anatomic landmark and matched the actual liver volume. The reconstructed ductal structure were distinct and continuous with natural texture. The reconstructed liver and the hepatic internal duct system were simultaneously displayed by adjusting the transparency of the liver, and the blood vessels were also represented.
CONCLUSIONSegmentation of the liver images in different phases using Photoshop can be feasible for liver reconstruction. The reconstructed liver and the intrahepatic ductal structure allow vivid 3D observation of the spatial relationship among the major tracts and accurate estimation of the liver volume.

Objective To explore risk factors of oxygen saturation (SpO2) decrease during intrahospital transporta-tion (IHT) of intensive care unit (ICU) patients in emergency department, and provide theoretical basis for prevent-ing oxygen saturation decrease during intrahospital transportation. Methods A cross-sectional study design was adopted, from April to May,2017,we investigated 182 ICU patients who required IHT in an emergency department in a tertiary hospital in Shanxi Province by using self-designed Evaluation Form of Intrahospital Transportation for ICU Patients in Emergency Room. We divided patients into two groups based on whether their SpO2 decreased or not. Risk factors of SpO2 decrease were identified by univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis. Results Among 182 patients,117 had SpO2 decrease, and the rate of SpO2 decrease was 64.3%. Patient's age,MEWS score, disease type, escort personnel, and oxygen supply device were risk factors of SpO2 decrease. Conclusion SpO2 de-crease is the result of combination of multiple risk factors during IHT. We ought to enhance training of escort person-nel,assess patient's condition and SpO2 level accurately and make plan before transportation, choose qualified oxygen supply device to ensure patients can have effective oxygen supply during IHT,which prevent SpO2 decrease during IHT.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the inhibitory effect of 6A8 alpha-manosidase expression on the adhesiveness of CNE-2L2 cells to laminin and the lamellipodia on cell surface.
METHODS6A8 alpha-manosidase expression was detected by Western blotting. For assaying the adhesion of cells to laminin, cells were incubated in laminin-coated plate at 37 degrees C for 1 h, the adhered cells were stained with crystal purple dissolved in 0.1 mol/L Sodium Citrate/50% ethanol. Absorbance 540 nm was measured. Adhesion rate (R) was calculated according to formula R = AT/A100 x 100%. Here A100 represents 100% adhesion. lamellipodia on cell surface was observed upon a scanning electron microscopy.
RESULTSThe adhesion rate of two clones (AS1 and AS2) with inhibition of 6A8 alpha-manosidase expression to laminin was 0.447 +/- 0.096 and 0.533 +/- 0.065 respectively. The adhesion rate of three controls with normal expression of 6A8 alpha-manosidase to laminin was 0.78 +/- 0.035, 0.7 +/- 0.05 and 0.80 +/- 0.04 respectively. The difference was significant (P < 0.01). CNE-2L2 cells with normal expression of 6A8 alpha-manosidase was rich in lamellipodia on their surface. Lamellipodia nearly disappeared on the cells with inhibition of 6A8 alpha-manosidase expression.
CONCLUSIONSInhibition of 6A8 alpha-manosidase expression results in decrease of adhesion to laminin and reduction of lamellipodia of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma cell CNE-2L2.
