Objective To investigate the clinical and pathological characteristics, diagnosis and treatment of gastric cancer with ovarian metastasis. Methods The clinical data of 17 cases of gastric cancer with ovarian metastasis, confirmed by surgery and pathology, were analyzed retrospectively. Results The average age of the patients was 48.41 years, and the first appearance of symptoms and signs often were of metastatic ovarian cancer. The main ultrasonographic findings were either a complex type of mass with both solid and cystic characteristics or only solid, and most of them were accompanied by intraperitoneal fluid accumulation. Bilateral metastatic ovarian cancer was more common(13 cases). The preoperative accurate diagnosis of this disease was difficult, so that the misdiagnostic rate was 64.7% in this series. Operation was done in all the patients, but prognosis was poor. The median survival time was only 11.6 months. Conclusions The prognosis of gastric cancer with ovarian metastasis is poor. It is of importance to inspect the stomach in cases of bilateral ovarian cancer. Radical resection of the primary disease focus together with hysterectomy and bilateral adnexectomy should be performed. Postoperative comprehensive therapy is conducive to improve the prognosis of gastric cancer with ovarian metastasis.

This study evaluated the cytotoxicity of a new type silicone rubber for maxillofacial prosthesis, which was developed by the present authors. According to the GB/T16886. 5- 2003, the samples were prepared and tested with cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) assay, the relative growth rate (RGR) was calculated, and morphology of L929 cells were observed by scanning electron microscope and phase contrast microscope. The results showed that RGR of L929 cells were 91.65% (24 h), 87.03% (48 h), 87.30% (72 h), respectively, and the level of cytotoxicity was grade 1. The L929 cells showed typical fusiform shape and their morphology did not changed significantly after 24 h, 48 h and 72 h. These data indicated that the newly-developed silicone rubber material, as a maxillofacial prosthesis material, should be a safe biomaterial.

OBJECTIVEThe biological safety of a new developed silicone rubber for inflatable silastic prosthesis (SRISP) was evaluated.
METHODSFollowing the GB/T 16886.10-2005 standard, YY/T 0127.13-2009 standard, and GB/T 16886.11- 2011 standard, samples were prepared and tested by animal experiments, such as guinea pig maximization test, oral mucous membrane irritation test, and short-term systemic toxicity test (oral route).
RESULTSNo obvious erythema and edema in the guinea pig abdominal skin were observed after 24, 48, and 72 h of stimulating touch, thus indicating that SRISP does not cause potential skin sensitivity. No local response to SRISP was found, and the visual observation and pathological findings of oral mucosa were normal and similar to that of the control group. Therefore, SRISP had no irritation response to oral mucosa. No clinical signs of toxicity were observed in rats, and no significant differences in weight and weight relative growth rate between extract group and blank control group (P > 0.05) were found. Thus, SRISP had no short-term systemic toxicity.
CONCLUSIONThese results indicated that SRISP met the requirement of biomedical materials and had good bio- security.

In order to establish a high efficient regeneration system of sunflower, we optimized the process of callus induction, differentiation and rooting by screening the optimum genotype, explant materials, hormone and cytokine concentration and additives. The results indicated that hybrid sunflowers were easier to regenerate than selfing ones; The best explant was four days cotyledon. The optimum induction medium was Murashige and Skoog (MS) + 2.0 mg/L 6-benzyladenine (6-BA) + 0.5 mg/L naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) + 1.0 mg/L kinetin (KT). The maximum rate of callus induction was 100%. The optimum differentiation medium was MS +0.2 mg/L 6-BA + 0.5 mg/L NAA + 0.3 mg/L KT + 0.3 mg/L silver nitrate (AgNO3) + 0.2 g/L active carbon (AC), and the buds differentiation rate was up to 71%. The best rooting culture medium was 1/2 MS + 0.6 mg/L indolebutyric acid (IBA). The highest rooting rate was 77%. The analysis of variance showed that genotype, explants growth time, different kinds and concentration of hormone, AC concentration had a significant effect on sunflower regeneration.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2004;39(7):514-517
AIMTo investigate the ameliorations of pioglitazone, a member of the thiazolidinedione group of antidiabetic agents, on insulin resistance in spontaneous OLETF rats with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT-OLETF).
METHODSOne group of IGT-OLETF rats was orally administered pioglitazone at the dose of 20 mg x kg(-1) (qd) for 2 weeks. Another group was given the same volume of solvent as control. Glucose tolerance and insulin tolerance were tested, and blood glucose concentrations, insulin levels and lipids in serum, liver and muscle were determined. Insulin sensitive index (ISI) was calculated by the reciprocal of fasting blood glucose times fasting insulin.
RESULTSPioglitazone was shown to markedly enhance the glycemic response to exogenous insulin (0. 4 x kg(-1), sc) in the model. The falls of blood glucose at 40 and 90 min in the insulin tolerance test were augmented by 70% and 158% in the treated group than the control. The serum insulin levels were significantly decreased and the ISI nearly normalized after treatment. Pioglitazone also lowered the serum TG and FFA levels and the lipids in liver and muscle. No effect was found on the expression of leptin in epididymal adipose tissues and on the activity of GFAT, a key enzyme in hexosamine biosynthesis pathway (data were not shown).
CONCLUSIONPioglitazone can improve the insulin resistance state in IGT-OLETF rats. Correction of lipid disorder may be associated with it.

Psychiatry Investigation 2020;17(9):858-864
Objective:
To evaluate the associative role of depression and apolipoprotein E epsilon 4 allele (APOEε4) in subjective cognitive decline (SCD) and its progression to objective cognitive decline.
Methods:
After literature search in electronic databases, studies were selected by following precise eligibility criteria. Meta-analyses were performed to examine the role of APOEε4 and depression in SCD or its progression to mild cognitive impairment (MCI) or dementia.
Results:
APOEε4 positivity was not different between SCD and normal individuals but was significantly higher in individuals with SCD plus than in normal individuals [odds ratio: 2.39 (95% CI: 1.87, 3.05); p<0.00001] and in SCD converters than in non-converters [odds ratio: 5.19 (95% CI: 2.36, 11.42); p<0.00001]. Depression was significantly higher in individuals with SCD [standardized mean difference: 0.63 (0.45, 0.82); p<0.00001] and SCD plus [standardized mean difference: 0.83 (0.43, 1.22); p<0.0001] than in normal individuals. However, depression was not different between SCD and MCI or between SCD converters and non-converters. Age of SCD converters was higher than non-converters [mean difference: 2.95 years (0.58, 5.31)].
Conclusion
Whereas APOEε4 positivity was higher in SCD plus and SCD converters, depression was higher in SCD and SCD plus but was not different between SCD and MCI.

To report a case of imported furuncular cutaneous myiasis, and to analyze the sequence of the mitochondrial cytochrome C oxidase subunit Ⅰ (CO Ⅰ) gene of the pathogenic Cordylobia anthropophaga.A 33-year-old female patient had a travel history to Ghana and Cameroon in Africa 1 month prior to the presentation. No anti-mosquito measures were taken during her stay, and she hung up the laundries outside to dry for several times.Skin examination showed furuncular protuberances with diameters of 1-2 cm on the inner side of the left upper arm as well as on the outer side of the left chest, which were bright red and hard on palpation with irregular borders and a small hole on their central surface.Morphological identification revealed that the larva squeezed from the lesion was suspected as myiasis. After PCR amplification of the CO Ⅰ gene of the larva,an about 650-bp PCR product was acquired.Sequencing and BLAST analysis showed that this product was most closely related to the CO Ⅰ gene (GenBank accession number:FR719158.1) of Cordylobia anthropophaga isolated in Cameroon in 2010 with the sequence similarity being 99.84%,and they were grouped together on the phylogenetic tree.According to the clinical features and travel history of the patient and the sequencing results of the pathogenic Cordylobia anthropophaga, this case was confirmed as imported furuncular cutaneous myiasis caused by Cordylobia anthropophaga.

Objective:To investigate the role of hydrogen-rich salt water in improving depression-like symptoms and its possible molecular mechanism in rats. Methods:The experiment was divided into two stages. In the first stage, 35 healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into control group, model group, high-dose group, medium-dose group, and low-dose group ( n=7); rats in the control group and model group were gavaged with 8 mL/kg normal saline per d, and rats in the high-dose group, medium-dose group, and low-dose group were fed with 8 mL/kg hydrogen-rich saline water (containing 2, 1, and 0.5 ppm hydrogen) per d; except for the control group, the other groups were depressed with chronic unpredictable mild stimulation (CUMS) for 4 weeks. In the second stage, 30 healthy male SD rats were randomly divided into hydrogen water group, hydrogen water+fluoxetine group, and nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2) inhibition group ( n=10); optimal hydrogen concentration (0.8 ppm) hydrogen-rich saline water (8 mL/kg) per d was given to rats of these 3 groups by gavage; fluoxetine (5 mg/kg) by gavage was given to the hydrogen-water+fluoxetine group, and all-transretinoic acid (10 mg/kg) by gavage was given to the Nrf2 inhibition group; CUMS was given for 4 weeks in these 3 groups. Rats were weighed at fixed times at each weekend. Four weeks after intervention, the total distance and average speed of rats in each group were determined by open field test. After open field test, blood was collected from the orbital veins from all rats; serum superoxidase dismutase (SOD) and malondialdehyde (MDA) contents were determined by ELISA. The expressions of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), Nrf2, and phosphorylated Nrf2 (p-Nrf2) in the hippocampal CA3 region were detected by Western blotting. Results:(1) In the first stage, after 3 and 4 weeks of intervention, as compared with the model group, the body weight of the rats in the high-dose group, medium-dose group, and low-dose group increased significantly ( P<0.05). As compared with the model group, the medium-dose group, and low-dose group had significantly increased total distance and average speed, significantly increased serum SOD content, significantly decreased serum MDA content, significantly increased BDNF and HO-1 expressions and decreased p-Nrf2 expression in the CA3 region of the hippocampus ( P<0.05). (2) In the second stage, after 3 and 4 weeks of intervention, as compared with the Nrf2 inhibition group, the body weight of the hydrogen water group and hydrogen water+fluoxetine group increased significantly ( P<0.05). As compared with the Nrf2 inhibition group, the hydrogen water group and hydrogen water+fluoxetine group had significantly increased total distance and average speed, significantly increased serum SOD content, significantly decreased serum MDA content, statistically increased BNDF and HO-1 expressions in the CA3 region of the hippocampus, and the hydrogen water+fluoxetine group had significantly increased Nrf2 and p-Nrf2 expressions in the CA3 region of the hippocampus ( P<0.05). As compared with the hydrogen water group, the hydrogen water+fluoxetine group had significantly increased BNDF and HO-1 expressions and increased p-Nrf2 expression in the CA3 region of the hippocampus ( P<0.05). Conclusion:Hydrogen-rich salt water can increase the serum SOD and reduce the serum MDA, increase the BDNF and HO-1 protein expressions in the hippocampal areas of depressed rats, thereby improving the depression-like symptoms; the synergistic effect of hydrogen-rich saline water and fluoxetine on anti-depression may be related to antioxidant effect of Nrf2 signaling.
