Objective To describe a novel surgical technique for male long-segment urethral stric- ture after pelvic trauma using the intact and pedieled pendulous urethra to replace the bulbar and membra- nous urethra, and then reconstructing anterior urethra. Methods Three patients with long-segment post- traumatic bulbar and membranous urethral strictures with short left pendulous urethras who had undergone several failed previous surgeries were treated with staged pendulous-prostatic anastomotic urethroplasty fol- lowed by reconstruction of the anterior urethra. This procedure was divided into 3 stages. The first-stage sur- gery was mobilization of anterior urethra down to the coronary sulcus and then re-routing the prostatic urethra followed by pendulous-prostatic anastomotic urethroplasty with transposition of penis to perineum. The sec- ond-stage surgery was transecting the anterior urethra at the site of coronary sulcus 6 months later when it was re-vaseularized,then straightening the penis and performing urethroperineostomy. The third-stage surgery was reconstruction of anterior urethra 6 months later. Results Case 1 reported satisfactory voiding postopera- tively.Retrograde urethrography showed that the urethra was patent with no post-voiding residual urine (PVR),and bilateral vesicoureteral reflux almost disappeared. The Qmax was 18.8ml/s,and 18ml/s after the third stage surgery and at 2-year follow-up.Case 2 also had satisfactory voiding.A 22F urethral catheter could smoothly pass through the urethra, and Qmax was 19.5 ml/s with no PVR at 2-year follow-up.Case 3 underwent the first stage surgery through perineal and pubic routes. The urethrorectal and urethroperineal fis- tulas were excised and repaired simultaneously. After operation the fistulas healed, but the stenostomia resul- ting from wound infection needed further treatment. Conclusions This procedure is effective for men with complex long-segment post-traumatic bulbar and membranous urethral strictures, especially for those undergo- ing failed previous surgical treatment.

To explore the impact of Salmonella on Enterococcusfaecalis isolate N41 under the coexisting, the growth traits and the transcription of 26 virulence genes of N41 at various growth phases were detected.Salmonella and/or N41 were inoculated and done plate counting, then growth curves were drawn and bacterial total RNA were extracted at given time points, quantitive realtime PCR was used to analyze the RNA transcription levels of 26 virulence genes of N41.The result showed that comparison with single incubation, the bacteria concentration of N41 dropped about 3.9 times, and Salmonella dropped about 110-times.Among 26 virulence genes of N41,the RNA transcription levels of 12 virulence genes such as ebpA,ebpC,rnjB,ace, ebpR,psr and so on were promoted at the four growth phases, but the RNA transcription levels of SlyA and sprE were dropped.Except that the RNA transcription levels of CylL-S,CylL-L,efaA and AS had no significant changes at the four growth phases, the mostly rest genes increased dramatically at post-log phase. This indicated that when incubated together,N41 inhibited the growth of Salmonella significantly, and Salmonella promoted the transcription levels of virulence genes of N41 as a whole. The results lay a foundation for further research on the interaction between bacteria species and the pathogenicity mechanism of Enterococci.

Animal medicine is an important part of traditional Chinese medicine with a long application history in China. Systematically understanding the history of the development of animal medicine is of great significance to scientific protection and rational use of animal medicine resources. It has certain guiding significance to protection of wild resources, exploitation of new substitutes, standardization and summary of artificial breeding, and artificial reproduction technology. Taking the development of bezoar as an example, this article expounded the following four aspects:the development history of animal medicine, national animal protection, technical development, and prospect forecast by summarizing the Chinese ancient medical books and consulting the relevant laws and regulations. The entire above are about to offer new ideas for the sustainable development, the development of new medicine resources, and the development of animal medicine related preparation product.

AIMTo investigate the distribution of c-myb, an oncoprotein, in mouse oocytes-cumulus cell complex and sperm immunohistochemically.
METHODSTo study the effect of c-myb on mouse fertilization in vitro, various concentration of c-myb antisense-oligodeoxynucleotides (c-myb ASODNs) were incubated with sperms and oocytes during fertilization. To explore the possible mechanism involved in fertilization, the relationship between c-myb ASODNs and GABA or dbcAMP or Verapamil or Progesterone in fertilization was also observed by immunohistochemical methods.
RESULTSc-myb oncoprotein was observed on the nucleus of cumulus cell and head of sperm. c-myb ASODNs inhibited the rate of fertilization in vitro in a dose-dependent way. The fertilization rates of the control group, low (5 micromol/L), medium (10 micromol/L), high (20 micromol/L) concentration c-myb ASODNs groups and nonsense tat oligodeoxynucleotides (20 micromol/L) group were 34.97%, 30.89%, 20.14%, 16.68%, 34.47%, respectively. All of GABA, Progesterone and dbcAMP inversed the c-myb ASODNs inhibition effects on fertilization rate, but neither of them showed significant effect on the percentages of immunohistochemical stain of Myb on sperm and cumulus cells. By contrast, Verapamil inhibited the fertilization rate. Co-treated with c-myb ASODNs, Verapamil showed synergic inhibiting effects on the fertilization with c-myb ASODNs. Verapamil also inhibited the expression of Myb on head of sperm. The fertilization rates of the control group, medium (10 micromol/L) concentration c-myb ASODNs group, GABA group, P4 group, Verapamil group, dbcAMP group were 34.81%, 22.96%, 40.83%, 39.12%, 7.46%, 40.61%, respectively.
CONCLUSIONc-myb ASODNs is closely correlated with fertilization. Verapamil can inhibit fertilization in vitro through regulating Myb expression of sperm, while GABA, dbcAMP and Verapamil may affect the process of fertilization through the way other than Myb expression.

Objective To investigate the protein level of protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1 B) during the differentiation of 3T3-L1 preadipocytes and the effects of tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?) and rosiglitazone on the expression of PTP1B during the differentiation, and to explore the relationship between PTP1B and adipecyte differentiation. Methods 3T3-LI preadipecytes were cultured in vitro and differentiated by three groups of inducers: basic inducers only (3-isobutyl-1-methylxanthine+dexamethasone+insulin,group C),20?g/L TNF-?+basic inducers (group CT) and 10~(-5) mol/L rosiglitazone+basic inducers (group CR).Protein level of PTP-1B in adipocytes during differentiation was detected by Western blot. Results Each group showed the relatively high level of PTP1B in 3T3-L1 preadipecytes, going down with the differentiation of adipecytes, and reaching the lowest level in fully-matured adipecytes.Comparing the late period of differentiation in these three groups,CT group was sluggishly differentiated with more PTP1B protein, and CR group showed active differentiation with the lowest level of PTP1B.Conclusion PTP1B decreases with the differentiation of adipoeytes. The effects of TNF-?and rosiglitazone on insulin sensitivity perhaps partly via their influences on PTP1B level in adipecytes.

AlM: To explore the roles of neuronal axon-guidance molecules Slit3 and Robo4 receptor in corneal neovascularization ( CNV ) by study their expression in neovascularized cornea of rats.
METHODS: CNV models were established by implantation pellets containing basic fibroblast growth factor ( bFGF ) into corneal stroma. CNV models were measured by biomicroscopy photography. lmmunohistochemical staining and imaging analysis system were used to detect the expression of Slit3 and Robo4 in the models after 1, 4, 7, 10 and 14d.
RESULTS:The area of CNV and the expression of Slit3, Robo4 were increased in CNV models compared to that in normal cornea and reached highest level on 7d. And the expression level of Slit3 and Robo4 were significantly correlated with the size of CNV on every time point except 1d (r=0. 84-0. 91, all P<0. 05).
CONCLUSlON: The expression of Slit3 and Robo4 may be related to the CNV development. They are potential therapeutical target for CNV.
