Tumor 2011;31(5):448-452
Objective: To investigate the short-term efficacy and safety of recombinant human endostatin YH-16 combined with navelbine and cisplatin in the first line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its effect on the survival. Methods: Eighty patients with advanced NSCLC were recruited from May, 2007 and May, 2010, and they were randomly divided into study group (n=40, treated with YH-16 combined with navelbine and cisplatin) and conrol group (n=40, treated with navelbine plus cisplatin). The short-term efficacy and adverse effects were evaluated every six weeks (one chemotherapy cycle was given every 3 weeks). The survival was calculated. Results: Thirty-nine patients in the study group and 36 patients in the control group were evaluable. The stable disease rate in the study group was higher than that in the control group (53.8% vs 27.8%, χ2=5.25, P=0.022), and the clinical benefit rate was also higher (76.9% vs 55.6%, χ2=3.85, P=0.050). The progressive disease rate in the study group was lower than that in the control group (23.1% vs 44.4%, χ2=3.85, P=0.050). There were no significantly differences in time to progression and overall survival between the two groups (P>0.05). Most adverse effects were hematologic toxicities and digestive reactions, and the incidence rate was not significantly different between the two groups. The incidence rate of abnormal electrocardiogram in asymptomatic person was higher in the study group than that in the control group (χ2=16.27, P=0.001). Conclusion: YH-16 combined with navelbine and cisplatin as the first line treatment for advanced NSCLC can improve the stable disease rate, and the clinical benefit rate, decrease the progressive disease rate, and increase the rate, of cardiac electrophysiological abnormality, but the overall safety is acceptable.

OBJECTIVETo study the platelet morphology and function of an inherited macrothrombocytopenia disorder with abnormal large granules.
METHODSPlatelet size and structure were investigated by both light microscopy and electron microscopy. The platelet membrane expression of GP I b, GP II b, GPIII a, P-selectin and CD63 were analyzed by using respective monoclonal antibodies. Platelet 5-hydroxy-tryptamine was measured with spectrophotofluorometer.
RESULTSBoth the patient and her father had large granules in their platelets, with exocytosis being easily observed. The expressions of GP I b, GP II b and GP II a on the platelets were in normal range, while P-selectin and CD63 were somewhat increased. The abnormal large granules were not the alpha granules, lysosomes or dense bodies.
CONCLUSIONBoth morphological and functional abnormalities of the platelets from the patient are clearly distinguishable from other hereditary giant platelet disorders. It would probably represent a novel platelet disorder.

Chinese medicinal resources are the cornerstone of the sustainable development of traditional Chinese medicine industry. However, due to the fecundity of species, over-exploitation, and limitations of artificial cultivation, some medicinal plants are depleted and even endangered. Tissue culture, a breakthrough technology in the breeding of traditional Chinese medicinal materials, is not limited by time and space, and can allow the production on an annual basis, which plays an important role in the protection of Chinese medicinal resources. The present study reviewed the applications of tissue culture of medicinal plants in the field of Chinese medicinal resources, including rapid propagation of medicinal plant seedlings, breeding of novel high-yield and high-quality cultivars, construction of a genetic transformation system, and production of secondary metabolites. Meanwhile, the current challenges and suggestions for the future development of this field were also proposed.

Objective:To compare the imaging quality and metabolic quantitative parameters of pulmonary nodules between Q. Flex whole information five-dimensional (5D) and conventional three-dimensional (3D) PET/CT imaging for clinical evaluation.Methods:Fifty-four patients (30 males, 24 females, age: 60(42, 75) years; 78 solid pulmonary nodules (maximum diameter≤3 cm) with abnormal uptake of 18F-FDG) from Tianjin Cancer Hospital Airport Hospital between June 2022 and August 2022 were enrolled in this retrospective study. All patients underwent 5D scanning and 3D, 5D reconstruction. Image quality scores, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), SUV max, SUV mean and metabolic tumor volume (MTV) of pulmonary nodules of 5D group and 3D group were evaluated and compared with χ2 test and Wilcoxon signed rank test. Correlation of quantitative parameters between 2 groups were analyzed by using Spearman rank correlation analysis. Results:Thirty-five of 78(45%) pulmonary nodules with image quality score≥4 were found in 5D group, which were more than those in 3D group (22/78(28%); χ2=4.67, P=0.031). Meanwhile, SNR, SUV max, SUV mean, and MTV were significantly positively correlated between the 2 groups ( rs values: 0.86, 0.86, 0.85, and 0.95, all P<0.001). SNR, SUV max and SUV mean of pulmonary nodules in 5D group were significantly higher than those in 3D group, which were 37.46(18.42, 62.00) vs 32.72(16.97, 54.76) ( z=-4.07, P<0.001), 9.71(5.48, 13.82) vs 8.96(4.82, 12.63) ( z=-3.05, P<0.001) and 6.30(3.39, 8.94) vs 5.61(2.99, 7.63)( z=-4.07, P<0.001) respectively. MTV of pulmonary nodules in 5D group was significantly lower than that in 3D group, which was 1.72(0.66, 2.74) cm 3vs 1.98(1.06, 4.63) cm 3 ( z=-7.13, P<0.001). Quantitative parameters of lower lung field and nodules with maximum diameters of >10 mm and ≤20 mm based on 5D scanning changed most significantly compared with those based on 3D scanning ( z values: from -5.23 to -2.48, all P<0.05). Conclusion:Q. Flex 5D PET significantly improves the quantitative accuracy of SUV and MTV of pulmonary nodules, and the improvement of image quality is substantial without increasing the radiation dose, which has clinical practical value.

Moutan Cortex is an important traditional Chinese medicine, "Fengdan Pi" was known as Dao-di herbs from the root bark of Paeonia suffruticosa cv. Feng Dan for its extracted various active components. However, the genetic basis for their activity is virtually unknown. The transcriptome of the root bark from "Fengdan" was sequenced using the Illumina HiSeq 4000 sequencing platform. The clean reads were then de novo assembled into 72 997 unigenes. Among them, the number of unigenes which could been annotated by dataset Nr and GO was 41 139 and 34 592. The 20 016 unigenes could been annotated by KEGG dataset, which were involved in 5 major categories, 34 middle categories, and 352 metabolism pathways. The number of unigenes which were mapped to the phenylpropanoid biosynthesis pathway, terpenoid backbone biosynthesis pathway, terpenoid biosynthesis pathway, alkaloid biosynthesis pathway, and flavonoid biosynthesis pathway was 214, 104, 152, 55 and 36 respectively, suggesting that they are involves in these pathways of pharmaceutically important. Furthermore, there also showed remarkable differences in groups which enrichment ratio of the different expressed gene compared. In addition, a total of 9 939 SSRs were identified from the sequence of 72 997 unigenes. This study not only provides many valuable basal data which was important gene in the synthesis pathway of secondary metabolites with gene searching, but also has important significance to find molecular marker in germplasm for breeding and improvement.
