Journal of Preventive Medicine 2021;33(4):358-363
Objective:
To analyze the relationship between hemoglobin ( Hb ) and serum uric acid ( SUA ), so as to provide basis for preventing hyperuricemia ( HUA ) .
Methods:
As the research subjects, people who underwent physical examination in Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital from January 1, 2017 to October 31, 2020 for 4 years in a row and who were non-HUA in 2017 were selected. The physical examination data were collected, including body mass index, blood pressure, blood routine, blood biochemical tests, etc. The subjects grouped by quartiles of Hb level in 2017. The occurrence of SUA elevation ( SUA increased ≥60 μmol/L from baseline ) , significantly SUA elevation ( SUA increased ≥120 μmol/L from baseline ), HUA ( SUA>420 μmol/L ) and severe HUA ( SUA ≥480 μmol/L ) in the next 3 years were taken as end events. The incidence, occurrence time and risk of end events in different Hb groups were analyzed.
Results:
A total of 4 073 subjects were selected and divided into 4 groups according to the Hb level from low to high, with 969 subjects in group A, 907 subjects in group B, 1 109 subjects in group C and 1 088 subjects in group D. SUA elevation was in 745 patients ( 18.29% ); significantly SUA elevation was in 105 patients ( 2.58% ); HUA was in 514 patients ( 12.62% ); severe HUA was in 94 patients ( 2.31% ). The incidence of SUA elevation and significantly SUA elevation showed a decreasing trend with the increase of Hb level ( P<0.05 ). The occurrence time of SUA elevation in group A to D was 2.788, 2.817, 2.860 and 2.814 years, and the difference was statistically significant ( P<0.05 ). There were no statistically significant differences in the occurrence time of other end events ( P>0.05 ). The multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis showed that compared with group A, other Hb groups had lower risk ( HR=0.498-0.776, 95%CI:0.253-0.981 ) of SUA elevation, significantly SUA elevation and severe HUA after adjusting for gender, age, ALT, Scr, body mass index, etc.
Conclusions
With the increase of Hb level, the incidence of SUA elevation may decrease and the occurrence time is prolonged. Compared with the lowest Hb group, the higher Hb groups had lower risk of SUA elevation, significantly SUA elevation and severe HUA.

Introduction:The 2010 targets of the China Hepatitis B Prevention Programme were a prevalence of hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) less than 1.0% for children less than five years old and less than 6.0% for the total population. This survey assessed the prevalence of Hepatitis B infection in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province, China in 2009–2010.Methods:Multistage sampling was used with 2372 subjects among 17 selected villages. Blood specimen collection and testing by enzyme-linked immunosorbnet assay (ELISA) were completed using the following markers for hepatitis infection: HBsAg and antibody to HBsAg (anti-HBs); hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg) and antibody to HBeAg (anti-HBe); and hepatitis B core antibody (total anti-HBc). The data were analysed with Epi Info, version 3.3.2.Results:The prevalence of HBsAg was 2.4% (95% Confidence Interval [CI]: 1.8–3.0; Adjusted Prevalence [AP] 2.9%); anti-HBs prevalence was 51.1% (95% CI: 49.1–53.1; AP 49.2%) and total anti-HBc prevalence was 41.7% (95% CI: 39.8–43.7; AP 45.5%). The prevalence of HBsAg and total anti-HBc positivity increased from young to older age groups, yet the prevalence of anti-HBs positivity decreased from young to older age groups (

OBJECTIVETo study the absorption and separation of different glycoside on different macropore resins.
METHODTake baikal skullcap root, cape jasmine fruit and white peony root as samples and study the different characterstics of absorption and separation of these samples on macropore resins such as D101 and so on.
RESULTThe static absorption effect of the the three aglycones on six different macropore resins is baicalin > lactiflorin > gardoside. Their elution are 75% CH3OH, 25% CH3OH, and 45% CH3OH. Their elution rates are 60%, 93%, and 93%.
CONCLUSIONSimilar molecules may not have similar absorption abilities on same macropore resins, but the effect of absorption has something to do with the structures of the molecules, the more double-bonds the molecules have, the greater the absorption force the resins have.

Objective To investigate the value of magnetic resonance sialography (MRS) as a noninvasive tool in evaluating major salivary gland function before and after radiotherapy (RT) for nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients. Methods From August 2009 to June 2010,patients with stage Ⅰ and Ⅱa (AJCC/UICC 2002) nasopharyngeal carcinoma were enrolled. All the patients were treated with intensity modulated radiation therapy alone.MRS with salivary stimulation was performed in patients before and after RT on a 3.0T MR scanner. An MRS categorical scoring system was used to compare the visibility of ducts pre-RT and post-RT.The relationship between MRS score and EORTC Core QOL and EORTC Head and Neck QOL was analyzed.Spearman rank correlation test was performed to analyze the non-stimulated and stimulated MRS findings and the clinical severity of xerostomia. Results All 10 enrolled patients completed planned treatment. The mean dose of the parotid glands and submandibular glands were (37.99 + 3.70) Gy and (55.65 + 2.99) Gy,respectively.Good-quality MRS images were obtained. The visibility scores of both the parotid and submandibular ducts were increased after secretion stimulation.Irradiation decreased the visualization of the salivary ducts and attenuated the response to secretion stimulation. There were specific correlations between post-RT secretion response of the parotid gland and EORTC QLQ scales ( global QOL scale in QLQ-C30 ( rs =0.636,P =0.048 ) and xerostomia scale in QLQ H&N35 ( rs =- 0.694,P =0.026) ).Conclusions MRS can be used as a non-invasive way to evaluated of the functional changes of major salivary glands before and after RT and as a promising approach for investigating radiation-induced xerostomia.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression profiles of serum Golgi protein-73 (GP73) in liver cirrhosis and primary hepatic carcinoma (PHC) and determine its clinical value for differential diagnosis.
METHODSSerum protein expressions of GP73 and alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and chemiluminescence assay, respectively, in patients with PHC (n=80), liver cirrhosis (n=65), and healthy controls (n=50). Inter-group changes were assessed by Kruskal-Wallis test, and significance of these differences was assessed by Mann-Whitney test. A receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was plotted to evaluate the diagnostic efficiency and determine the cut-off values for GP73 and AFP. Sensitivity and specificity were compared by the Chi-squared test. Correlation between serum GP73 expression and clinical parameters was determined by Spearman's rank correlation analysis.
RESULTSThe PHC group showed significantly higher serum GP73 (282.0 mug/L) than the liver cirrhosis group (211.8 mug/L) and control group (58.3 mug/L) (H = 93.30, P less than 0.01). For differential diagnosis of PHC and liver cirrhosis, the cut-off value was 318.1 mug/L for GP73 and 13.4 mug/L for AFP. Sensitivity of GP73 was lower than AFP (45% (36/80) vs. 65% (52/80); X2 = 8.02, P less than 0.05). Specificity of GP73 was lower than AFP but no significance was found (83.1% (54/65) vs. 87.7% (57/65); X2=0.27, P more than 0.05). The areas under the ROC curves were not significantly different between GP73 and AFP (0.65 (95% confidence interval (CI): 0.54~0.72) vs. 0.75 (95% CI: 0.67~0.83); Z = 1.88, P more than 0.05). The area under the ROC curves increased but not significantly (0.80 (95% CI: 0.73~0.88) vs. 0.75 (95% CI: 0.67~0.83); Z=2.61, P more than 0.05). Serum GP73 was correlated with liver cirrhosis (r=0.27), vascular invasion (r=0.29), and TNM staging (r=0.27) (all P less than 0.05), but not with sex (r=0.13), age (r=0.10), enhanced AFP (> 13.4 mug/L; r=0.03), tumor size (r=0.18), or distant metastasis (r=0.04), all P less than 0.05.
CONCLUSIONSerum GP73 and AFP have comparable diagnostic efficiency, but the sensitivity of AFP is superior for differential diagnosis of liver cirrhosis and primary hepatic carcinoma. Elevated serum GP73 may be correlated with liver tumor load and aggressiveness.
