1.Function of College English in humanistic education in medical universities and colleges
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2012;11(8):840-843
Language,as a cartier of specified social culture,is closely and complementarily associated with it.Considering the especial education targets of medical universities and colleges, the present curriculum and the trend of international communication,College English is obliged to focus on humanistic value and necessarily plays its constructive role in heightening students' humanistic quality.
2.Progress of relationship between diabetes and papillary thyroid cancer
Chinese Journal of Diabetes 2017;25(7):670-672
Papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) is the most common type in thyroid carcinomas.Recently, the prevalence and diagnostic rate of PTC has got significantly high with the general use of ultrasound.Nowadays, more and more studies have suggested that the coexistence of PTC and diabetes is common. They indicated that hyperglycemia would induce the deterioration of oxidative stress injury, chronic inflammation, insulin resistance, obesity, dyslipidemia, deficiency of vitamin D and dysimmunity. All of these may break the balance of oxidation and antioxidation and result in disordering signal pathway, accumulation of inflammatory cytokines, over activating of insulin and insulin-like growth factor-1,changing the metabolic pathways, which will promote the occurrence and progression of PTC.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), an important component of complementary and alternative medicine, has evolved over thousands of years with its own unique system of theories, diagnostics and therapies. TCM has been increasingly used in the last decades and become well known for its significant role in preventing and treating cancer. We believe that TCM possesses advantages over Western medicine in specific aspects at a certain stage of cancer treatment. Here we summarize the advantages of TCM from three aspects: preventing tumorigenesis; attenuating toxicity and enhancing the treatment effect; and reducing tumor recurrence and metastasis.
6.Changes of neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin after endoplasmic reticulum stress by thapsigargin in renal tubular epithelial cells
International Journal of Pediatrics 2017;44(5):352-355
Objective To observe the changes of neutrophil gelatinase associated lipocalin,NGAL after endoplasmic reticulum stress by thapsigargin in renal tubular epithelial cells. Methods The renal tubular epithelial cells were treated with thapsigargin to establish the model of endoplasmic reticulum stress (ER group).CHOP and GRP78 expression were detected by Western-blot to confirm endoplasmic reticulum stress in renal tubular epithelial cells by thapsigargin.NGAL expression were detected by Western-blot in ER group and control group(normal renal tubular epithelial cells). Results After treated with 2.5 μmol/L and 5 μmol/L thapsigargin for 4 hours and 8 hours respectively, endoplasmic reticulum stress in the renal tubular epithelial cells were significantly increased comparing with control group (0.585 ± 0.045 to 0.523 ± 0.030;0.785 ± 0.049 to 0.728 ± 0.064),which was approved by the increased expression of CHOP and GRP78 (P < 0.05).The expression of NGAL was significantly increased in ER group (0.567 ± 0.024 to 0.826 ± 0.057,P < 0.05) and it was corresponded with the changes of CHOP and GRP78,which increased significantly with the severity of endoplasmic reticulum stress. Conclusion Endoplasmic reticulum stress can be induced by thapsigargin in renal tubular epithelial cells. The expression of CHOP,GRP78 and NGAL were significantly increased correspondingly with the severity of endoplasmic reticulum stress. It is speculated that the expression of NGAL may be related with endoplasmic reticulum stress in tubular epithelial cells.
8.Effects of natural moxibustion on cytokines and specific transcription factors in asthma rats.
Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(4):379-383
OBJECTIVETo explore the mechanism of natural moxibustion on regulating immune imbalance in asthma rats.
METHODSSeventy SD male rats were divided into a normal group, a placebo group, a dexamethasone group, a big-cake for long-course moxibustion group, a big-cake for short-course moxibustion group, a small-cake for long-course moxibustion group and a small-cake for short-course moxibustion group, ten rats in each one. The rat model of asthma was established by egg albumen sensitization and stimulation in all the groups except the normal group. The natural moxibustion was used in all moxibustion groups, in which big cake of 1 cmX 1 cm size was used in the big-cake groups and small cake of 0.5 cmX 0. 5 cm size was used in the small cake groups. According to relevant acupoints, the natural moxibustion was performed, 5 h per time, once a day. Four times of treatment was considered one course, and three courses were required in the long-course groups and one course was required in the short-course groups. Intraperitoneal injection of dexamethasone was applied in the dexamethasone group, which had the same course as long-course moxibustion group. After the treatment, changes of EOS in peripheral blood of asthma rats were observed; enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was applied to test the contents of IgE, IL-4 and IFN-gamma in the lung tissue; real-time Q-PCR method was adopted to measure the expression level of transcription factor T-bet and GATA binding protein 3 (GATA-3) in the lung tissue.
RESULTSCompared with the normal group, the EOS in whole blood as well as IL-4 and IgE in plasma were all increased in the placebo group (all P< 0. 01), IFN-gamma in plasma was obviously decreased (P<0. 01); while the levels of EOS, IgE and IL-4 were significantly reduced (all P<0. 01), the content of IFN-gamma was increased (P<0. 01) in all moxibustion groups and dexametnasone group. Compared with the normal group, the expression of T-bet mRNA in the placebo group was significantly reduced (P<0. 01). Each treatment group could significantly increase the expression of T-bet mRNA and reduce that of GATA-3 mRNA (P<0. 01). Compared with the short-course moxibustion groups, the expression of T-bet mRNA was obviously increased in the long-course moxibustion group and dexamethasone group (both P<0.01), and that of GATA-3 mRNA was reduced (P<0.01). There was no significant difference between long-course moxibustion group and dexamethasone group (P> 0. 05), and also no significant difference could be seen between big-cake moxibustion group and small-cake moxibustion group (P>0. 05).
CONCLUSIONThe natural moxibustion could obviously reduce airway inflammation in asthma rats. With time passing, the efficacy is enhanced, indicating evident timeliness, which has no apparent relationship with the size of moxibustion cake.

Chinese Journal of Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases 2006;0(03):-
Objective To make a status survey on type2 diabetic patients with metabolic Syndrome in middle-aged inhabitants. Methods 338 inpatients with type 2 DM including 179 male and 159 female, aged 46?5 years, with complete records in the computer database. Results The prevalent rates of the complications in group of 40~yrs type2 diabetic patients were 17.8% combined with coronary atherosclerotic heart disease,50.9% with hypertension,18.1% with left ventricular dilatation,53.6% with hypertriglyceridemia,46.2% with lower HDL,54.7% with obesity and 38.8% with metabolic Syndrome, respectively. These prevalent rates in the 40-year-old group were all lower than those in groups above 60 years, and the rates was higher in patients whose BMI was above 25(kg/m2).Conclusion There was high prevalence in type 2 diabetic patients with metabolic Syndrome, and was related with the age and obesity.Obesity was an independent risk factor for MS.
