Objective To determine the changes in event-related potentials (ERPs) and examine the relationship between memory, consciousness and ERPs during propofol sedation and anesthesia. Methods Ten young healthy volunteers were enrolled in this study. Baseline values of ERPs, noninvasive BP (NBP), ECG and SpO2 were recorded before induction of sedation and anesthesia. The level of sedation was assessed using OAA/S scale. Sedation and anesthesia were induced and maintained with target-controlled infusion (TCI) of propofol. The amplitude, peak value and latency of the potential N1 and P3, NBP ECG and SpO2 were recorded at each level of sedation and anesthesia. A list of words was played via headphone at OAA/S score of 3 or 2. Memory test was performed 4hr after the recovery from anesthesia. Target and distractor hits in inclusion and exclusion test were obtained and explicit and implicit memory scores were calculated. Objective: To investigate the short-term efficacy and safety of recombinant human endostatin YH-16 combined with navelbine and cisplatin in the first line treatment of advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its effect on the survival. Methods: Eighty patients with advanced NSCLC were recruited from May, 2007 and May, 2010, and they were randomly divided into study group (n=40, treated with YH-16 combined with navelbine and cisplatin) and conrol group (n=40, treated with navelbine plus cisplatin). The short-term efficacy and adverse effects were evaluated every six weeks (one chemotherapy cycle was given every 3 weeks). The survival was calculated. Results: Thirty-nine patients in the study group and 36 patients in the control group were evaluable. The stable disease rate in the study group was higher than that in the control group (53.8% vs 27.8%, χ2=5.25, P=0.022), and the clinical benefit rate was also higher (76.9% vs 55.6%, χ2=3.85, P=0.050). The progressive disease rate in the study group was lower than that in the control group (23.1% vs 44.4%, χ2=3.85, P=0.050). There were no significantly differences in time to progression and overall survival between the two groups (P>0.05). Most adverse effects were hematologic toxicities and digestive reactions, and the incidence rate was not significantly different between the two groups. The incidence rate of abnormal electrocardiogram in asymptomatic person was higher in the study group than that in the control group (χ2=16.27, P=0.001). Conclusion: YH-16 combined with navelbine and cisplatin as the first line treatment for advanced NSCLC can improve the stable disease rate, and the clinical benefit rate, decrease the progressive disease rate, and increase the rate, of cardiac electrophysiological abnormality, but the overall safety is acceptable.

ObjectiveTo investigate the roles of Toll-like receptor (TLR) 3 and 9 in herpes zoster (HZ).Methods Venous blood samples were collected from 40 patients with HZ and 16 normal human controls. Flow cyometrywas usedto detect the expressionsof TLR3and TLR9inperipheralblood mononuclear cells(PBMCs) from these subjects.ResultsThe percentages of PBMCs expressing TLR3 and TLR9 were significantly higher in patients than in normal human controls(both P ＜ 0.01).The expression levels of TLR3 and TLR9 in PBMCs were negatively correlated with the age of onset(r =-6.23,-5.88respectively,both P ＜ 0.01 ),but uncorrelated with gender or age.There was a significant difference in the expression levels of TLR3 and TLR9 in PBMCs between different age groups ( ＜ 40 years,40-50 years,＞ 50 years) of patients with HZ(F =3.410,P ＜ 0.01 ),with the strongest expression observed in patients younger than 40 years.ConclusionTLR3 and TLR9 may participate in the pathogenesis of HZ.

ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between diet habits and constitution type of 8448adults from 9 provinces and municipalities of China.MethodsA total of 8448 participants from Jiangsu,Anhui,Gansu,Qinghai,Fujian,Beijing,Jilin,Jiangxi and Henan Province were enrolled in this study.The clinical information of constitution type,diet habits and demographic characteristics was collected.Logistic regression analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between diet habits and constitution type.ResultsLogistic regression analysis showed that gentleness type and Qi-deficiency were correlated with sweet food ( OR =1.22,P ＜ 0.05 ). There was a significantly positive correlation between Yangdeficiency and hot food intake ( OR =2.89,P ＜ 0.05 ),as well as between Yin-deficiency and cold food intake ( OR =1.56,P ＜ 0.05).Phlegm-wetness was mainly caused by fatty food consumption ( OR =2.07,P ＜ 0.05 ).Barbecue food was positively correlated with Wet-heat type ( OR =1.64,P ＜ 0.05 ),Bloodstasis type ( OR =1.37,P ＜ 0.05 ),and Qi-depression type ( OR =1.35,P ＜ 0.05 ).Special diathesis type was related to dietary preference of sweet food ( OR =1.29,P ＜ 0.05 ).ConclusionDifferent type of constitution may be related to specific lifestyle or diet habits,and diet habit might play a positive role in Gentleness type or health condition.

Objective To analyze current situation of incentive mechanism and investigate the countermeasures.Provide the evidence for improving the incentive mechanism of scientific research at the hospital.Methods Questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate current situation and countermeasures of incentive mechanism of scientific research.Database was building using EpiData3.1,and was performed by descriptive analysis.Results 194 questionnaires were available.For the current incentive mechanism,86.5％ respondents thought the content is comprehensive,The over 50 years old,bachelor or below,and clinical examination group thought the content were less comprehensive.Respectively,81％,82.5％,76.2％ of respondents thought stimulation on achievements has positive effect to research,team work,and individual accounted for.The over 41 years old college or bellow,clinical treatment group felt less effect.For improving measures of incentive mechanism,the top three positions of contents were technological reward,high level project and SCI paper;and incentive methods were promotion,material rewards and training.Conclusions Incentive mechanism can promote scientific research to some extent.To further promote scientific research development,individual incentive measures need to be taken,the contents need to be expanded,variety incentive methods need to be used.

Objective To investigate the infection prevention effect of prophylactic use of antibiotics for cancer inpatients with leukocyte count ≤ 1 × 109/L.Then to provide the basis for rational use of antibiotics.Methods It was retrospectively surveyed that the infection situation and prophylactic usage of antibiotics in the 426 cancer inpatients with leukocyte count ≤ 1 × 109/L caused by radiotherapy and chemotherapy.Results In the 426 inpatients,the infection rates of patients with and without prophylactic use of antibiotics were 11.0％ and 20.9％ respectively.The difference was statistically significant (x2 =6.815,P =0.009).The leukocyte count median values of patients with and without infection were 0.73 × 109/L and 0.77 × 109/L respectively.The difference had no statistical significance(Z =-1.257,P =0.209).The main infection sites were lower respiratory tract,upper respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract with infection rates of 48％,12％ and 11％,respectively.The top five pathogens were Klebsiella pneumonia,Enterobacter cloacae,Escherichia coli,Enterobacter aerogenes and Staphylococcus aureus.The most use of antibiotics were cephalosporin.Conclusion When the leukocyte counts of cancer inpatients are less than or equal to 1 × 109/L induced by chemotherapy and radiotherapy,reasonable prophylactic use of antibiotics can reduce hospital infection rates.

Objective To explore the teaching effect ofOrgan-system-based curriculum in-tegrated model on clinical graduation field work. Method 150 clinical medical undergraduates of Grade 2009 from Shenyang Medical College selected, were randomly divided into the experimental group (75 persons) and the control group (75 persons). The experimental group adopted the means of the Organ-system-based curriculum integrated model, namely practicing according to human organ-system and the control group accepted the traditional pattern of discipline centered practice during the clinical graduation internship. The two groups of students carried out questionnaire survey and comprehend examinations when the practice ended, and then statistics analysis (the chi square test, t test) was done by the SPSS 19.0 software between the two groups in order to explore the teaching effect. Result The students' satisfaction degree from six aspects of the questionnaire survey showed in the experimental group was significantly higher than that in the control group (the degree of recognition of practicing pattern: χ2=11.437, P=0.003; the architectonic integrality: χ2=9.881, P=0.007; the im-provement of the autonomic learning ability χ2=9.643, P=0.008; the teaching method and means: χ2=11.006, P=0.004; motivating learning interest: χ2=13.550, P=0.001; increasing the ability of clinical thinking: χ2=13.309, P=0.001), and the average test scores of students from three parts of examination results showed by comprehend examinations (speculative knowledge examination: t=2.768, P=0.006;technical skill examination: t=2.212, P=0.029; clinical capability examination: t=5.015, P=0.000) in the experimental group was obviously higher than that in the control group and the difference was sig-nificant. Conclusion Organ-system-based curriculum integrated model on clinical graduation in-ternship is generally approved by the students, which has significantly improved the students' clinical thinking ability, and the quality of graduation internship teaching.

Objective To study the effect of allicin on the growth and radiosensitivity of human pancreatic carcinoma BXPC3 cells.Methods BXPC3 cells were exposed to X-rays in the presence or absence of allicin.Cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay.Cell cycle distribution and apoptosis were detected by flow cytometry assay.Cell radiosensitivity and the influence of allicin on it was evaluated by colony formation assay.The expressions of Bax and Bcl-2 proteins were assayed by RT-PCR and Western blot.Results IC50 values of allicin on cell growth were 76.24,58.34 and 43.58 μmol/L under 12,24 and 48 h treatment,respectively.Treatment of cells with allicin obviously inhibited cell growth after irradiation and hence increased radiosensitivity (t =2.74,P ＜ 0.05).This treament also enhanced radiation-induced cell cycle arrest at G2/M phase (t =11.41,P ＜0.05),apoptosis induction (t =12.36,P ＜ 0.05),and Bax expression (t =4.83,P ＜ 0.05),but it decreased Bcl-2 expression (t =3.69,P ＜ 0.05).Conclusions Allicin could inhibit cell growth,induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis via Bax/Bcl-2 pathway and hence increases radiosensitivity of BXPC3 cells.

Objective To observe the analgesic effects of dexmedetomidine combined with dif-ferent-doses of sufentanil in patients undergoing spine surgery.Methods Sixty patients(ASA grade Ⅰor Ⅱ degree,age 18-70 years)undergoing spine surgery were randomly assigned into three groups ac-cording to PCA formulation(n =20):3 μg/kg sufentanil group (group S1),1.5 μg/kg dexmedetomi-dine+ 2 μg/kg sufentanil group (group S2 )and 1.5 μg/kg dexmedetomidine + 1 μg/kg sufentanil group (group S3).The same anesthesia method was applied among three groups.Patient-controlled intravenous analgesia pump was applied before 30 minutes prior to the end of surgery.The drugs in each group were diluted to 1 50 ml and infused by a pump at a rate of 3 ml/h with a patient-controlled analgesia (PCA)bolus of 0.5 ml and lock time of 30 minutes.VAS and Ramsay scores at 2 h(T0 ),4 h (T1 ),8 h(T2 ),12 h(T3 ),24 h(T4 )and 48 h(T5 )after surgery were estimated.Postoperative nausea and vomiting,bradyrhythmia and hypersomnia were also recorded.Results Compared with group S1, VAS of groups S2 and S3 was significantly decreased at T1-T5 (P <0.05).There were also no signifi-cant difference in the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting,bradyrhythmia and hypersomnia among three groups.Conclusion Dexmedetomidine of 1.5 μg/kg can significantly reduce the dosage of sufentanil on postoperative analgesia in patients undergoing spine surgery,and decrease the rate of postoperative nausea and vomiting without any bradyrhythmia and hypersomnia.
