AIM: To Study the chemical constituents of volatile oil in Herminium bulleyi(Rolfe) Tang et Wang,ethnic drug from Miao Nationality. METHODS: The volatile oil of Herminium bulleyi was extracted by CO_2-supercritical fluid extraction method and steam distillation method,and their chemical constituents were analyzed and identified by GC-MS. RESULTS: SFE-CO_2 extraction gained 32 known constituents and steam distillation 33 ones.Volatile oil yield by SFE-CO_2 was three times that by steam distillation. CONCLUSION: The effect of SFE-CO_2 extraction on yield of volatile oil has obvious benefits both easy and quick.Cetylic acid content in volatile oil by SFE-CO_2 extraction is as high as 52%.

Objective: To observe the impact of vascular calcification on kidney injury rats with the expressions of β-Klotho, fibroblast growth factor receptor 1 (FGFR1) in kidney tissue in order to find the predictor for early chronic kidney disease (CKD), to provide the prevention and investigation basis of vascular calcification and CKD. Methods: Vascular calcification model was induced by vitamin D3 and nicotine injection in experimental rats and the animals were divided into 2 groups: Normal control group and Calcification group. n=6 in each group. Serum levels of creatinine and urea nitrogen were examined by sarcosine oxidase method and UV-glutamate dehydrogenase method respectively; blood levels of calcium and phosphorus were detected by biochemistry method; kidney tissue alkaline phosphatases (ALP) activity was measured by ALP detection kit, protein expressions of β-Klotho and FGFR1 were assessed by ELISA.Results: Compared with Normal control group, Calcification group showed increased serum levels of creatinine (35.200±4.087) umol/L vs (26.000±5.0990) umol/L and urea nitrogen (6.900±0.623) mmol/L vs (5.400±0.803) mmol/L, both P<0.05; elevated kidney tissue ALP activity (60.510±31.090) U/g vs (26.590±8.664) U/g and β-Klotho protein expression (9.052±1.238) ng/mg vs (6.860±1.036) ng/mg, both P<0.05. Blood levels of calcium, phosphorus and kidney tissue FGFR1 protein content were similar between 2 groups. Conclusion: Large dose vitamin D3 and nicotine injection may induce vascular calcification and early CKD symptom in experimental rats; β-Klotho protein expression was significantly increased suggesting that β-Klotho had been involved in the early regulation of vascular calcification and it could be used for the early diagnosis of CKD at certain point.

Methods Sixty male adult rats were randomly divided into 4 groups (15 per group): normal control, BPH control group, the group of 5? reductase inhibitor treatment during hyperplasia and the group of treatment after hyperplasia. Immunohistochemistry combined with computer assisted image analysis system were performed to examine the expression of factor Ⅷ related antigen, PCNA and VEGF in the prostatic tissue for all rats. Objective To understand employment status of the eight-year program medical graduates from different medical colleges and put forward reasonable proposals on the current prob-lems. Method Through questionnaire, we conducted research among eight-year program medical graduates of three different grades (Grade 04,05,06) on the general condition of employment, research level, actual working time, expectations and actual salary, satisfaction with jobs and so on. Data statis-tics was done by Excel 2007. Totally, our research involved 11 medical colleges and 389 questionnaires. Results 94.34% (367/389) of the eight-year program medical graduates work in top three hospitals. The top five factors affecting the employment were reputation of the school 86.38%(336/389), reputation of the Principal Investigator 66.83% (260/389), social relations 60.15% (234/389), scientific research level 52.96% (206/389) and gender 46.79% (182/389). The amount of published papers from those graduates and their satisfaction with jobs vary greatly. Conclusion Eight-year program medical grad-uates employment faces both opportunities and challenges, and a clear training objective and improve-ment of continuing medical education system for the eight-year program medical graduates will have great significance on the promotion of their employment.

Objective To study the tumorigenetic characteristics of side population (SP) cells and their exsistence in gastric cancer cell lines and tissues.Methods Flow cytometry and the DNA-binding dye Hoechst 33342 staining were used to analyze sorted SP cells in 3 gastric cancer cell lines(SGC-7901,BCIC-823 and MKN28).SP cells and non-SP cells(main population cells)isolated from SGC-7901 cell line weresubcutaneously injected into 36 nude mice with 500,5000 or 50 000 cells per mouse,respectively.Thetumorigenity was observed 8 weeks after injection.The expression of ATP-binding cassette sub-family Gmember 2(ABcG2)mRNA in three gastric cell lines and its level in gastric cancer tissues were detected by real-time PCR and immunostaining.respectively.Results The proportion of SP cells was accounted for 1.0%in SGC-7901 cells and 1.3%in BGc-823 cells.No SP cell was found in MKN28 cells.As low as 500 SP cells or 50 000 non-SP cells could initiate tumors in mice.The expression of ABcG2 mRNA was higher in SGC-7901(O.162)and BGC-823(O.096)cell lines than that in MKN28 cell line(0.005).The value of AtCG2 mRNA/beta-aetin mRNA and protein in gastric cancer tissues was different from those in gastritis tissues.Condasimm SP cells have strong ability of tumorigenesis compared with non-SP cells.The expression of ABCG2 is found in gastric cancer tissues and part gastritis tissues.The more the SP cells in gastric cell lines,the higher the expression of ABCG2.

Objective To investigate the clinical effect of initiative content reduction surgery in the herniorraphy on the prevention and treatment of postoperative intra-abdominal hypertension of obese patients with giant ventral hernia.Methods The retrospective cross-sectional study was adopted.The clinical data of 62 obese patients with giant ventral hernias who were admitted to the Chao-Yang Hospital of Capital Medical University from January 2011 to December 2015 were collected.The initiative content reduction surgery was adopted during the herniorraphy of ventral hemia.Observation indices:(1) surgery situations:operation time,length of resected intestines,volume of intraoperative blood loss.(2) Postoperative recovery situations:change between preoperative and postoperative urethral bladder pressure,organ function of heart,lung,liver and kidney,time of gastrointestinal function recovery,time of drainage tube removal and duration of postoperative hospital stay.(3) Postoperative complications:incisional infection and intestinal fistula.(4) Follow-up situations.Follow-up using outpatient examination at 1 week,1 month,3 months and 6 months after surgery and using telephone interview at postoperative year 1 was conducted up to June 2016.The follow-up included hernia recurrence and chronic infection.Measurement data with normal distribution were represented as x ± s.Measurement data with skewed distribution were represented as M (range) and analyzed by rank-sum test.Results (1) Surgery situations:all the 62 patients received successful herniorraphy of giant ventral hemia combined with initiative content reduction surgery.Operation time,length of resected intestines and volume of intraoperative blood loss were (115 ±22)minutes,(207 ± 64)cm and (52 ± 35)mL.(2) Postoperative recovery situations:the preoperative urethral bladder pressure was 18 cmH2O (range,15-22 cmH2O,1 cmH2O =0.098 kPa) and postoperative urethral bladder pressure was 8 cmH2O (range,6-11 cmH2O),with a significantly statistical difference between before and after surgery (Z =-9.662,P ＜ 0.05).There was no abnormal function of heart,lung,liver and kidney after operation.The time of gastrointestinal function recovery,time of drainage tube removal and duration of postoperative hospital stay were 3.8 days (range,3.0-6.0) days,(3.8 ± 1.1) days and (14.5 ± 1.9) days.(3)Postoperative complications:of 62 patients,4 were complicated with incisional infection and improved after symptomatic treatment.There was no intestinal fistula.(4) Follow-up situations:all the 62 patients were followed up for (36 ± 19) months.During the follow-up,3 patients had incisional hernia recurrence and then were followed up without reoperation.No chronic infection occurred.Conclusion Initiative content reduction surgery is effective and feasible in the prevention and treatment of intraoperative intra-abdominal hypertension of obese patients with giant ventral hernia.

Objective To establish nude mouse model with human brain glioma SHG-44 and understand its growing characteristics in vivo.Methods The 4-week-old male mice were randomly divided into high density cell suspension inoculation group(n=10),low density cell suspension group(n=10),the tumor tissue mass vaccination group(n=10)and the blank control group with normal saline injection(n=10).The SHG-44 human brain glioma cell suspension was injected into the subcutaneous of the nude mice' s armpit.The tumor tissue was cut into 1 mm3 after tumor tissue growth and formation,and re-inoculated into the subcutaneous of the new nude mice' s armpits.Apart from daily observation,the long and short diameters of tumor were recorded every 5 days after graft.All the mice were sacrificed at 60 days and the tumor tissues were harvested for pathological examination.Results With a longer incubation period and slower growth rate,the tumor formation rate in high density cell suspension inoculation group and low density cell suspension group was lower compared with that in the tumor tissue mass vaccination group.Around day 20,grafted tumor appeared remarkably big((41.51 ±6.42)mm3) with good morphology.On day 50,the tumor derived from group the tumor tissue mass vaccination group((565.69± 123.36)mm3) showed a bigger size in comparison with that from high density cell suspension inoculation group((203.85±104.63) mm3) and low density cell suspension group ((153.02± 31.76) mm3,all P＜0.05).The tumors in three groups were well defined with a rich vascularity and no apparent invasion was observed.The positive expression of GFAP and S-100 in a large body of tumor cells was observed under optical microscope.Conclusion With a shorter incubation period and faster growth,the mouse tumor models established with tissue pieces from the tumor-bearing mice are much better compared to those with cell suspension.

Objective\ To detect thrombomodulin protein in 18 weeks human fetal lung. Methods\ SP method was used in the study. Results\ It showed that, in fetal lung tissues, thrombomodulin expressed in the endothelial cells of capillaries surrounding the primary alveoli, but it was absent in cuboid cells and ciliated\|columnary epithelium cells and cartilage. Conclusion\ Our results suggest that thrombomodulin does not exist in middle and late stage's human fetal lung.\;

Tumor tissue is a complex of tumor cells, stromal cells, and extracellular matrix, and they constitute a disordered and aggressive microenvironment, which plays an indispensable role in the occurrence and development of tumors. In breast cancer, cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAF) not only promote the occurrence, proliferation, invasion, metastasis, and drug resistance of tumor, but also participate in events including angiogenesis, lymph angiogenesis, extracellular matrix remodeling, and reconstruction of the microenvironment, which are known to induce cancer. Therefore, a new strategy for tumor therapy is provided by targeting CAF. This article reviews the research progress of CAF in breast cancer.
