This paper reports the effects of the polysaccharide from Sargassum fusiforme (SFPS) on contents of lipoid peroxide (LPO) and enzyme activities of glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione peroxidase (GSH - PX), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD) in whole blood, liver and spleen in leukemia L615 mice. The results show that SFPS remarkably reduces the contents of LPO and increases in the enzyme activities of CAT , SOD in whole blood, liver and spleen in leukemia L615 mice. The authors point out that SFPS may remove the free radicals in the body of leukemia L616 mice and have an effect against lipid peroxidation. This may be one of the mechanisms of SFPS against leukemia.

Objective To evaluate whether it can prevent Frey's syndrome by reserving parotid fascia or reconstructing parotid fascia with sternocleidomastoid muscle and remaining of parotid fascia in parotidectomy. Methods Fifty-two patients undergoing parotidectomy with maintained and reconstructed parotid fascia were followed up. A test of chewing vitamin C slice guidance and iodine-amylum pilot was conducted for observing the incidence of postoperative Frey's syndrome. Results Flush with perspires was found only in 5 out of the 52 patients (9.61%), which was lower than the incidence after traditional parotidectomy. Conclusion The method of reserving and reconstructing parotid fascia with sternocleidomastoid muscle and remaining of parotid fascia in parotidectomy can efficiently prevent Frey's syndrome, and can also repair the hollow abnormity of the face.

Objective:To evaluate fixation effect of intermaxillary fixation screw.Methods:63 cases with mandibular fractures were treated with open reduction, and then internal fixation were managed with intermaxillary fixation using dental arch splint or intermaxillary fixation screw randomly. The operation time, postoperation periodontal index, mouth open degree, occluding relation and fracture healing were compared. Results:There was no significant difference upon occluding relation, fracture healing and mouth open degree under two treatment methods.Compared with dental arch splint fixation method, intermaxillary fixation screw had shorter operation time and better periodontal index. Conclusion:Intermaxillary fixation screw is a good intermaxillary fixation method because of short operation time.Furthermore,it can provide enough traction retention strength and easy to maintain oral hygiene.

AIM:To evaluate the influence of scutellarin on the expression of vascular endothelial growth factor ( VEGF) in high glucose-treated human retinal pigment epithelial cell line ARPE-19 and to observe the effects of scutellarin on the protein expression of VEGF, p-ERK and VEGFR2 in the retinas of type II diabetic rats.METHODS: Cultured ARPE-19 cells were divided into normal control group, scutellarin group, high glucose group and high glucose+scutellarin group. The protein levels of VEGF, p-ERK and VEGFR2 were measured by Western blot. The VEGF release in ARPE-19 cells was detected by ELISA.Normal rats were randomly divided into normal control group and scutellarin group.Diabetic rat model was established by feeding with high-fat diet and injecting with streptozocin, and randomly divided into diabetes group and diabetes treated with scutellarin group. After 16 weeks, the eyes were removed. The morphological changes of the retinas were observed under light microscope with HE staining, and histopathological score was recorded. The expres-sion of VEGF in the retinas was observed by the method of immunohistochemistry.RESULTS:Compared with normal con-trol group, the protein levels of VEGF, p-ERK and VEGFR2 in the ARPE-19 cells decreased in scutellarin group, but in-creased in high glucose group. The histopathological score of the retinas showed significant difference among diabetes group, diabetes treated with scutellarin group and normal control group, and no significant difference between normal con-trol group and scutellarin group was observed. The expression of VEGF increased in diabetic group and was significantly higher than that in scutellarin treatment group (P<0.05).CONCLUSION:Scutellarin inhibits the increased protein le-vels of VEGF, p-ERK and VEGFR2 in ARPE-19 cells, and decreases the expression of VEGF in the retinas of diabetic rats. The suppression of the diabetic retinopathy development by scutellarin may be partly involved in the ERK/MAPK pathway.

Objective To study and observe the clinical efficacy of using non skid plate by posteromedial approach for fixing splitting or compression tibial plateau fracture. Methods Twenty eight cases of patients who were treated for fixing splitting or compression tibial plateau fracture from January 2014 to January 2016 in people's hospital of Xinyu were retrospectively reviewed. All patients were treated byposterior medial approach with non skid plate for fixation, all patients were followed up by postopera tive imaging and clinical follow-up to observe its clinical curative efficacy. Results Twenty-eight patients were followed up,the mean follow-up time was 12 months. All patients had no internal fixation loosening fracture, send, vascular and nerve damage and other adverse reactions. All the patients were healed within 4 to 7 months, the average healing time was 18.5 weeks. After healing, knee joint function was evaluated,18 cases were excellent,5 cases were good, the excellent and good rate was 82.1 %.Conclusion The efficacy of using non skid plate by posteromedial approach for fixing splitting or compression tibial plateau fracture is good,it is worthy of clinical application.

Chinese Journal of Marine Drugs 1994;0(02):-
In this paper, the effects of SFPS on red blood cell immune function of P388mice is presented. The results suggest that SFPS' enhancing the immune function of red blood cells of P388 mice may be related to decreasing the content of LPO of red blood cell membranes inhibiting the formation of HMP by protein of red blood cell membranes and systolic protein, increasing the sealing degree of red bold cell menbranes and the content of sialic acid and enhancing the activities of SOD, CAT, and Na+, K+-ATPase of red blood cell membranes.

Objective To discuss the method and efficiency of less invasive stabilization system (LISS) in treatment of comminuted tibia[ fractures. Methods A total of 14 patients with comminuted tibial fractures were treated with LISS between January 2005 and July 2006. There were 10 males and four females, at age range of 19-61 years (mean 34 years). Of all, 11 patients were with proximal fractures of tibia and three with distal ones, including six with open fractures and eight with closed ones. The period from injury to operation was 2-13 days. An observation was done on postoperative soft tissue recovery and fracture healing. Results The average period of follow-up was 9.4 months (4-16 mouths). All frac-tures were healed up after average 7.8 months (4-12 months). All incisions were healed up at one stage, with no complications on nerves, blood vessels or soft tissues. The axes of tibia were good, with sound function of knee and ankle joints. Conclusion LISS is characterized by easy operation, minor trauma, high healing rate and low complications in treatment of comminuted tibial fractures.
