Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2007;0(05):-
According to recent studies, cardiovascular disease, infection and malnutrition are the most common complications of maintenance hemodialysis (MHD),which also the main causes of death. Further studies illustrate that dialysis patients with micro-inflammatory state, which relate to patient uremia and hemodialysis, further more, closely related to the existing micro-inflammatory response to the above complications. Accordingly,to explore the mechanism in MHD patients with micro-inflammatory response, and to search for the effective micro-inflammation treatment,in addition,to enhance the quality of life of patients with MHD and survival rate has become a hot spot in recent years.

Objective: To evaluate the influence of extraction solvents on antioxidant and antimi-crobial activities of the pulp and seed of Anisophyllea laurina R. Br. ex Sabine fruits.
Methods: The antibacterial activities of pulp and seed extracts were tested by using disk diffusion method against eight bacterial strains and three fungal strains. Total phenolic, flavonoid, monomeric anthocyanin and tannin contents, and antioxidant activities were determined by spectrometric methods.
Results: The antioxidant analysis of pulp extract revealed the strong radical scavenging capacity and total phenolic content (4329.66 mg of gallic acid/100 g), while seed extract showed the high antioxidant activity and total tannin content (5326.78 mg catechin equivalent/100 g). Antibacterial and antifungal activities of methanol and ethanol extracts exhibited potent growth inhibitory activity against Aeromonas hydrophila, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli O157:H7, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Salmonella Typhimurium and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 with minimum inhibitory concentration values ranged from 125 to 250 mg/mL. However, seed extract had the strongest potential activity against Aspergillus niger and Candida albicans with minimum inhibitory concentration value of 500 mg/mL compared to pulp extract.
Conclusions: Our results therefore demonstratedthatethanoland methanol extractionswere more efficient in extracting antioxidants and bioactive compound in pulp and seed. These results support that these plant extracts can be used for the treatment of bacterial infections.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effects of fructose 1,6-diphosphate (FDP) on experimental hemorrhagic shock in rats. METHODS: Sixty rats were randomly divided into three groups: the normal saline control group (group A), the 5% glucose solution control group (group B) and the 5% FDP solution treated group (group C). Shock models were made by bloodletting until the mean arterial pressure (MAP) reduced to 39.75 mmHg (1 mmHg=0.133 kPa) for 60 minutes, and then normal saline, 5% glucose and FDP were given to the rats, respectively. RESULTS: FDP could significantly increase MAP and the survival rate, elevate pH value, partial oxygen pressure (PaO(2)) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity, and decrease partial carbon dioxide pressure (PaCO(2)) and malondialdehyde (MDA) in arterial blood of the shocked animals. CONCLUSIONS: It suggests that FDP has a good protective effect on hemorrhagic shock by improving tissue metabolism and preventing acidosis and tissue injury caused by free radicals.
