BACKGROUND:Core decompression may provide insufficient support for the subchondral bone in the treatment of early avascular necrosis of the femoral head and increase the risk of fracture and colapse. Quadratus femoris implantation cannot only provide good biological support, but also promote the revascularization at necrotic regions, thus repairing the necrosis of femoral head. OBJECTIVE: To compare the clinical effects of core decompression with bone paste implantation and core decompression with quadratus femoris implantation on early and middle-stage avascular necrosis of the femoral head. METHODS:Eighty-three patients with early avascular necrosis of the femoral head (92 hips) admitted at the Department of Orthopedics, the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University, China, from January 2009 to January 2012 were enroled and divided into groups of core decompression with bone paste implantation (46 cases, 49 hips) and core decompression with quadratus femoris implantation (37 cases, 43 hips) that were respectively injected with bone meal and autogenous bone and osteoinductive materials. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: Al involved patients were folowed up. After 1 year of treatment, Harris scores in the two groups were both increased (P < 0.05). But the Harris score of core decompression with bone paste implantation group was lower than that of core decompression with quadratus femoris implantation group (P < 0.05). After 3 years of treatment, X-ray scores in the core decompression with quadratus femoris implantation group were significantly higher than those in the core decompression with bone paste implantation group (P < 0.05). These findings indicate that compared with core decompression with bone paste implantation, core decompression with quadratus femoris implantation is better to prevent femoral head colapse, improve hip function and delay the process of osteonecrosis of the femoral head.

Objective:To explore the influence of the veneering porcelain thickness on the compressive strength of zirconia all-ceramic crown.Methods:25 zirconia basement crowns with the thickness of 0.5 mm were made by CAD-CAMsystem,and then were divided into 5 groups randomly with the veneering porcelain thickness of 0.5(A),1.0(B),1.5(C),2.0(D)and 2.5 mm(E)respectively. The compressive strength of the samples was measured by a testing machine.Statistical analysis was conducted by SPSS13.0 software. The microstructure of the fractured bonding interface of the specimens was observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).Results:The compressive strength in group A,B,C,D and E were:(1 279.96 ±42.85)N,(2 235.44 ±50.14)N,(2 216.38 ±48.97)N, (2 169.22 ±60.40)N and (2 028.70 ±47.37)N respectively(A or E vs B,C or D,P <0.01;A vs E,P <0.01;B vs C or D,P >0.05;C vs D,P >0.05).SEMobservation found that in group A and E the bonding interface was uneven and loose, the cracks and spores in veneering porcelain appeared more and larger, and had a more intensive distribution. Conclusion:When the veneering porce-lain is too thick or too thin, the compressive strength of zirconia all-ceramic crown decreases, the thickness of the veneering porcelain should be controled in an appropriate range.

Military Medical Sciences 2017;41(5):406-409
Studies have shown that co-infection of influenza viruses with bacteria is an important cause of high mortality during the epidemic of influenza. There are at least 12 species of bacteria that have been reported to be able to co-infect with influenza.Among those species,co-infection with Staphylococcus aureus is not only the most common but also the most lethal. However, the pathogenesis of high mortality from co-infection with influenza virus/S.aureus remains elusive. In addition,co-infection of influenza virus/S.aureus can induce severe pneumonia. There is new evidence that influenza virus can reduce the host′s tolerance to pathogenic or inflammatory injury, and the two pathogens can also synergistically aggravate toxic effects on the host. Here,we review the mechanisms of severe mortality of influenza infection associated with S.aureus co-infections in order to contribute to prevention and control of influenza in the future.

Twelve populations of Inula lineariifolia were used as materials to measure morphological characteristics, photosynthetic parameters and chemical constituents. It aims to provide a theoretical basis for germplasm resources evaluation. The results showed that I. lineariifolia had relatively rich morphological diversity, there were significant differences of morphological characteristics, photosynthetic parameters and chemical constituents among populations. There was positive correlation on morphological characteristics and P(n). Twelve populations were divided into three-type. The three populations of Xuyi, Mingguang and Fengyang were of narrower-longer leaf, bigger biomass, better photosynthetic and higher chemical constituents. Then they were classified for a similar group. It proved that the three populations were more suitable for cultivation and promotion.

Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
Streptomyces sp. A048 was cultured in a complete medium to the last stage of log phase, the hyphae were washed and collected by centrifugation. Then the hyphae were inoculated in liquid medium for chitinase production using two-step fermentation. Activity of chitinase produced by two-step fermentation was 1.1 times higher than that from one-step fermentation, and ferment cycle was for 54 hours, which was 66 hours shorter than that of one-step fermentation. The hyphae and the powder of chitin were co-immobilizated and cultured in liquid medium for 36 hours, activity of chitinase was 1.8 times higher than that from one-step fermentation, and ferment cycle was 54h shorter than that of one-step fermentation. By adding 0.4% cellulose to two-step fermentation, activity of chitinase was 18.52 U/mL that was 4 times higher than that from the control and 10 times higher than that from one-step fermentation. Two step fermentation with chitin and cellulose may be the optimal fermentation process to produce Chitinase from Streptomyces sp. A048.
