Objective To explore the clinical and pandemic features and respiratory pathogen co-infection characteristics of children infected with influenza virus A (Flu A) in year 2009.Methods A retrospective study of hospitalized children with flu-like clinical symptoms in 2009 was conducted.The peripheral blood serum was analyzed to detect common respiratory agents,inclucding Flu A,respiratory syncytial virus,adenovirus,influenza virus B,parainfluenza virus 1,2 and 3,chlamydia pneumonia and mycoplasma pneumonia,klebsiella pneumonia (KP),haemophilus influenza and legionella pneumophila by using indirect immunofluorescence test for the antibody detection (IgM).And a standard medical history was recorded,including epidemiological data,clinical manifestation,and the length of hospital stay,white blood count and chest X-ray elsewhere.All specimens were collected in Department of Pediatrics,Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University,from Jan.2009 to Dec.2009.Results Flu A was detected in 234 of the 599 (39.1％,234/599 cases) flu-like children.The mean age was 48.8 months (range from 3 to 167 months).The detection rate in less than 1-year-old group (11.1％,18/162 cases) was obviously lower than that of the older groups (P ＜ O.001).Especially for the group ＜ 6 months,there was only 1 infant (1.43％,1/70 cases) with Flu A positive.Compared with Flu A negative group,the main clinical features of children with Flu A positive group were fever(78.2％,183/234 cases,P =0.013) and cough(76.5％,179/234 cases,P =0.04),however asthma (14.1％,33/234 cases,P =0.003)and diarrhea (6.0％,14/234 cases,P ＝ 0.001) cases were less.The detection rates of Flu A reached a peak of 57.0％ in November and December,and a secondary peak of 45.0％ in May and June.Flu A infection children less than 1 year old were simple in etiology.The children were older,the etiology was more complex.The primary coinfection pathogen was KP (53.8％,126/234 cases) and Flu B(48.3％,113/234 cases).Compared Flu A coinfection with or without KP,there was no difference between these 2 groups in the clinical features.Conclusions Intfluenza A is the main pathogen of hospitalized children with flu-like symptoms in 2009.Children over 1 year old age were the major infection groups of Flu A.The detection rates of Flu A reached peaks in May to June and November to December.Flu A positive children were prone to KP coinfection.

Objective: Based on nationwide cardiovascular surgery registry database, to analyze the current status and future development of minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery (MICS) in China.
Methods: There were 45 institutions from 19 provinces nationwide involved in Chinese cardiovascular surgery technique registry study. A total of 16480 adult patients with cardiovascular surgery from 2010-09 to 2012-03 were divided into 2 groups, Conventional surgery group, n=14503 and MICS group, n=1977. The basic clinical conditions were analyzed and compared between 2 groups in order to explore the current status and future development of MICS in China.
Results: Compared with Conventional surgery group, the patients in MICS group had the younger age, better and stable pre-operative condition. In MICS group, compared with 4 other common procedures, the patients who received hybrid procedure had obviously shorter cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) time, aortic occlusion time, ventilator using time, ICU and in-hospital stay time, meanwhile decreased post-operative drainage volume;except for Robotic surgery, it required less red blood cells and plasma at during and post-operative time, all P<0.01. There were 12 (0.6%) in-hospital death in MICS group, the total complication rate was at 4%.
Conclusion: MICS are widely used in China, its short-term safety and efifcacy are conifrmed. Upon cardiovascular disease spectrum changing, the MICS procedures will be adjusted accordingly.

Objective To investigate the effect of oncolytic adenovirus vector SG600-IL24expressing human melanoma differentiation associated gene-7 (mda-7/IL-24) on hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines with different metastatic potential of HepG2, SMMC7721, MHCC97L and normal liver cell line LO2. Methods The oncolytic adenovirus SG600-IL24 which carrying mda-7/IL-24 gene was transfected into hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines and normal liver cell line. The mRNA and protein expression of mda7/IL-24 in HepG2, SMMC7721, MHCC97L and LO2 cell lines was confirmed by RT-PCR,ELISA assay and Western blot respectively. MTT assay and flow cytometry were used to study tumor cell proliferation and cell cycle in vitro. Hoechst33258 and flow cytometry were studied to indicate the apoptosis effects. Results It was confirmed by RT-PCR, ELISA assay and Western-blot that the exogenous mda-7/IL-24 gene was highly expressed in HepG2, SMMC7721, MHCC97L and LO2 cell lines. MTT and apoptosis detection indicated that MDA-7/IL-24 can induce the growth suppression (the inhibition rate was 75% ±2. 5% ,86% ±3. 5% ,and promotes apoptosis ( the apoptosis rate was 56. 5% ± 4. 0% , 34. 4% ± 2. 0% , 43. 3% ± 2. 5%cell lines at G2/M phase ( the blocking rate was 35. 4% ± 4. 2% , 40. 5% ± 5. 0% , 42. 0% ± 5. 0%metastatic potential hepatocellular carcinoma cell lines but not in normal liver cell line.Conclusions Oncolytic adenovirus vector SG600-IL24 can selectively induce growth suppression, promote apoptosis in hepatocellular carcinoma lines in vitro but not in normal liver cell LO2.

By using enrichment culture in liquid minimal medium or direct culture on minimal medium plates, thirteen bacterial strains (AD27-AD39) capable of utilizing atrazine as a sole nitrogen source for growth were isolated from a mixture of industrial wastewater and sludge from an atrazine manufacturing plant. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequencing, eleven strains were identified as Arthrobacter spp. and two strans were identified as Pseudomonas spp.. We further studied in detail the composition of atrazine-degrading genes and degradation characteristics of Arthrobacter sp. AD30 and Pseudomonas sp. AD39 that have high degradative activity. From PCR assays, it was indicated that both AD30 and AD39 strains contained atrazine-degrading genes trzN and atzBC and was capable of degrading toxic atrazine to nontoxic cyanuric acid. The biodegradation experiments showed that the percentage of atrazine removal were 92.5%,were 92.5%, 97.9% and 99.6% respectively after AD30, AD39 or the mixture of the two strains were inocu- lated and incubated at 30?C for 48 hours in minimal media containing 200 mg/L atrazine, indicating that atrazine degradation by the mixed bacteria was more effective than the single strain. In addition, after industrial wastewater containing 176 mg/L atrazine was inoculated with the mixed bacteria and incubated at 30?C with shaking for 72 hours atrazine were removed by 99.1%, implicating that the mixed bacteria are good candidate for biotreatment of atrazine-containing industrial wastewater.

Objective To investigate the application value of the Perclose Proglide vascular devices in the thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR) of aortic dissection.Methods Retrospective analysis of 106 patients who underwent TEVAR for Standford B type aortic dissection were performed.The femoral lumen was measured by CTA be fore,1 month and 1 year after TEVAR.Results A total of 223 Perclose Proglide vascular closure devices were used in the 106 patients,including 97 patients with 2 devices,7 patients with 3 devices,2 patients with 4 devices.The puncture femoral artery diameters had no significant differences between before and 1 month,1 year after TEVAR (all P ＞0.05).Conclusion Per close Proglide vascular closure devices can be effectively and safely used in the TEVAR,which has little influence on the femoral artery diameter,and is worth to be applied in the clinics extensively.

There has been an ongoing search for clinically acceptable methods for the accurate, efficient and simple diagnosis and prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Optical spectroscopy is a technique with potential clinical applications to diagnose cancer diseases. The purpose of this study was to obtain the optical properties of HCC tissues and non-tumorous hepatic tissues and identify the difference between them. A total of 55 tissue samples (HCC tissue, n=38; non-tumorous hepatic tissue, n=17) were surgically resected from patients with HCC. The optical parameters were measured in 10-nm steps using single-integrating-sphere system in the wavelength range of 400 to 1800 nm. It was found that the optical properties and their differences varied with the wavelength for the HCC tissue and the non-tumorous hepatic tissue in the entire wavelength range of research. The absorption coefficient of the HCC tissue (1.48±0.99, 1.46±0.88, 0.86±0.61, 2.15±0.53, 0.54±0.10, 0.79±0.15 mm(-1)) was significantly lower than that of the non-tumorous hepatic tissue (2.79±1.73, 3.13±1.47, 3.06±2.79, 2.57±0.55, 0.62±0.10, 0.93±0.16 mm(-1)) at wavelengths of 400, 410, 450, 1450, 1660 and 1800 nm, respectively (P<0.05). The reduced scattering coefficient of HCC tissue (5.28±1.70, 4.91±1.54, 1.26±0.35 mm(-1)) and non-tumorous hepatic tissue (8.14±3.70, 9.27±3.08, 2.55±0.57 mm(-1)) was significantly different at 460, 500 and 1800 nm respectively (P<0.05). These results show different pathologic liver tissues have different optical properties. It provides a better understanding of the relationship between optical parameters and physiological characteristics in human liver tissues. And it would be very useful for developing a non-invasive, real-time, simple and efficient way for medical management of HCC in the future.

Objective To examine the prevalence of depressive symptoms and related factors among HIV-positive men who have sex with men (MSM) in Shanghai.Methods All of the HIV-positive MSM were enrolled to participate in a cross-sectional study with questionnaire-based interview during Nov.,2014 to Nov.,2015.Depression was measured with a 12-item version of the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D),where a score of 9 had been recommended as the cutoff score to indicate possible depressive symptoms.Results A total of 505 participants were recruited with a median age of 30.Among them,the majority were aged 21-44 (77.2％),non-local resident (64.6％),unmarried (73.1 ％) and university graduate or above (62.1 ％).Depressive symptoms were detected from 235 MSM and the prevalence of depression was 46.5 ％.Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that MSM who were non-local residents (OR =1.66,95 ％ CI:1.01-2.49)and had more than one male sex partner in the past year (OR=2.21,95％ CI:1.43-3.41) were more likely to have depressive symptoms compared with local residents and had only one male sex partner or less.On the contrary,compared with the education level of junior middle school or below and having no long-term partners,those who were senior high school educated (OR=0.39,95％ CI:0.21-0.74) and had homosexual behavior with main long-term partners without condoms (OR =0.38,95 ％ CI:0.17-0.85) had lower risk to be depressive.Conelusions The prevalence of depressive symptoms among HIV-infected MSM is high.Residence,education level,homosexual behavior with main long-term partner and number of male sex partner are significantly associated with depressive symptoms,suggesting psychological interventions should be further explored and studied.

Nowadays, the simple combination of Western medicine (WM) and complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) cannot resolve all the health problems and various requirements. This article proposed the general integral medicine (GIM) theoretical model, which declares the disease causes analysis, clinical intervention and outcomes assessment should be recognized, managed and evaluated both from physiological, psychological, and spiritual status, and all the four dimensions: orthodox medicine (WM, Chinese medicine, etc.), individual inherent characteristics (emotion, attitude, psychology, etc.), cultural influences (doctors, caregivers, groups care, etc.), and natural environment and social systems (economic status, social security system, environmental pollution, etc). As for health outcomes assessment, a more comprehensive system including biological, doctors, patients, health intimate, social and environmental evaluations were required. The GIM model has individualized, dynamic, standardized, objective, systematic inherent characteristics, and opening and compatible external characteristics. It aims to provide the new theoretical guidance and strategic development direction for complex health interventions, and solve various medical related psychological and social problems.
