1.Mandible plasma cell myeloma:A case report

A case of mandible plasma cell myeloma is reported.Plasma cell myeloma is a monoclonal neoplastic proliferation of plasma cells of bone-marrow derivation,usually multi-centric but jaw bones are rarely involved.The treatment requires precise pathological diagno-sis.The prognosis of solitary jaw bone lesions can be good after treatment.
2.Immunogenicity of neuron-like cells differentiated from mesenchymal stem cells

Objective:Marrow mesenchymal stem cells differentiates into neuron-like cells when induced by Gastrodia,which verifies the multipotentiality of the stem cells.Here to detect the immunogenic properties of the neuron-like cells after differentiation.Methods:Human mesenchymal stem cells were isolated from bone marrow by wall sticking method,amplified by in vitro culture,and differentiated into neuron-like cells by oriented induction with Gastrodia.The morphology of cells was observed under light microscopy.Neuron-specific enolase (NSE),nestin and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) were detected by imnunocytochemistry.The expression of HLA-DR protein after induction was tested by flow cytometry(FCM).The immunogenic properties of the neuron-like cells induced from hMSCs were detected by one-way mixed lymphocyte reaction(MLR).Results:Human mesenchymal stem cells could be separated and amplified in vitro.After being induced by Gastrodia for 3 hours,most of the cells would be differentiated into neuron-like cells,revealing cytodendrite.By immunochemical staining,the cells showed positive of NSE,nestin,and negative of GFAP.HLA-DR was not detectable on differentiated hMSCs by FCM.MLR assays demonstrate that differentiated hMSCs fail to stimulate proliferative response of hPBLs.Conclusion:Human mesenchymal stem cells could be induced to differentiate into neuron-like cells by Gastrodia.MLR assays demonstrate that differentiated hMSCs fail to stimulate proliferative response of hPBLs.They are low immunogenic.
3.Research development of surface hydrophilicity and lubrication modification of interventional guide wire.

Surface lubricity is one of the important performance criteria for interventional guide wire. In this paper, a review of the methods of surface hydrophilicity and lubrication modification of interventional guide wire is presented, including their fundamental principles, effects and some relative applications. These methods all have their own advantages and disadvantages, therefore, limitations of experimental conditions need to be taken into account.

4.Detection and Significance of Serum Procalcitonin,Interleukin 6 and Interleukin 8 in Children with Acute Gastroenteritis

10pg/ml and IL-8≥70 pg/ml as the critical value,PCT and IL-6 levels had diagnostic sensitivities of 90.6% and 75.0%,and specificities of 83.3% and 77.7%,respectively.The combination of PCT and IL-6 had a sensitivity of 81.2%,and specificity of 94.2%.The positive predictive value was of 96.2% and the negative predictive value of 73.0%.CONCLUSIONS Serum PCT appears to be a promising indicator in differentiating viral infection from bacterial gastroenteritis,but the combination of PCT and IL-6 has a more clinical value.
5.The treatment of cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea:a report of 82 cases

Objective To summarize our experience in managing cerebrospinal fluid(CSF) rhinorrhea. Methods 82 cases of cerebrospinal fluid rhinorrhea treated in our department from 1995 to 1999 were reviewed retrospectively. 61 were male and 21 were female.They ranged from 2 to 82 years old.CSF leak was caused by trauma in 43 cases,iatrogenic injury in 18 cases and spontaneous leak occurred in 21 cases. Results 36 cases underwent surgical repair.The closure rate was 86 11%.Otorhinolaryngologists underwent 25 cases,and 23 cases succeeded (92%).The department of neurology underwent 11 cases,and 8 cases succeeded (72 7%). Conclusions The repair of CSF leak through transnasal extracranial approach can obtain better therapeutic results,especially through intranasal endoscopy.
6.Sca1~+ mesenchymal stem cells induce hemopoietic stem cells to differentiate into dendritic cells

Objective To study the effect of Sca1+ cells on the HSCs`(hemopoietic stem cells) differentiation to dendritic cells(DCs),and identify the morphology,function and surface markers of the cells.Methods CD117+ HSCs were isolated and purified from the bone marrow of healthy Balb/c mice by magnetic affinity cell sorting.After cell expansion by treatment with the support of Sca1+ cells,the HSCs were induced for directional differentiation into DC-like cells.Studied the surface markers by FACS and function via LSCM and animal experiments. Results After 10 days of culture,we demonstrated that Sca1+ cells induced HSCs to differentiate into a distinct regulatory DC subset with high expression of CD11b but low expression of Ia.They had phagocytotic activity,and suppressed the GVHD(graft versus host disease) reaction.Conclusion HSCs can differente into dendritic cells with the support of Sca1+ cells.

8.Clinical investigation of neuropeptides in patients with trigeminal neuralgia

砄bjective: To observe whether substance P(SP), calcitonin gene related peptide(CGRP), vasoactive intestinal polypeptide(VIP),? endorphin(? EP) are related to the pathogenesis of trigeminal neuralgia. Methods: During the attacks of trigeminal neuralgia, SP,CGRP,VIP,? EP in plasma from both external jugular and cubital fossa vein blood ipsilateral to the pain were assessed by sensitive radioimmunoassay in 16 ptients and 10 health controls, after operations the venous blood from the external jugular vein of the patients was sampled again; the external jugular vein blood of normal volunteers was collected as control. SP like and CGRP like immunoreactive positive granules of pain and painless branches were labelled using ABC immunohistochemistry methods; quantitative analysis was performed using HPIAS 1000 system. Results: During the attacks of trigeminal neuralgia, the levels of SP,CGRP,VIP in the external jugular vein blood were significantly higher than those in the cubital fossa vein blood, postoperative external jugular vein blood and the external jugular vein blood of normal volunteers. The plasma levels of ? EP in patients with trigeminal neuralgia were significantly lower than that in normal volunteers.The number and area of SP like ,CGRP like immunoreactive positive granules in the pain branches was much more and larger than those in the painless branches . Conclusion: Abnormal synthesis and release of neuropeptides in patients may be related to the pathogenesis of trigeminal neuralgia.
9.The expression changes in IL-6,GP130,JAK1 and STAT1 genes in PC12 cell after combined soman and hypoxia injury

Objective To investigate the complex effect of soman and hypoxia on PC12 cell line as shown by the expression changes in IL-6/GP130, JAK1 and STAT1. Methods A cell model of intoxication by combining effect of hypoxia and soman was reproduced, and it was divided into four groups: control, soman intoxication, hypoxia combined with soman intoxication, and Genistein inhibition groups. PC12 cells were cultured in RPMI 1640 and were treated with NGF (50ng/ml) for seven days. The differentiated PC12 cells were then exposed to hypoxia in an incubator containing 5% CO2, 95% N2 and (or) incubated with soman (20?mol/L) for 2, 6, 12 or 24 hours. The expression levels of IL-6/GP130, JAK1, STAT1 mRNA and protein were assessed by RT-PCR and Western blot in PC12 cells. The products were sequenced by Sanger's double strand DNA sequence determination. Results In soman intoxicated group, the expression levels of IL-6/GP130, JAK1, STAT1 mRNA and protein were elevated in PC12 cell, reaching the peak level at 12 hours, and then lowered at 24 hours, but remaining higher than that of control group. In combined soman intoxicated and hypoxia group, the expression levels of IL-6/GP130, JAK1, STAT1 mRNA and protein reached the peak value at 6 hours, being higher than that of control group, soman intoxicated group and Genistein inhibition group. It was shown that the sequences of the products as amplified by RT-PCR were the same as that found in the GenBank. Conclusion Soman intoxication or (and) hypoxia up-regulate the expression of IL-6/GP130. Both hypoxic condition and soman treatment can up-regulate the expression of JAK1/STAT1 mRNA and protein in PC12 cells. JAK-STAT pathway may play a role in the mechanisms of brain injury resulted from hypoxia and soman poisoning.
10.Prognostic value of cystatin C and creatinine in chronic heart failure in patients aged over 75 years

ABSTRACT:Objective To compare the prognostic value of cystatin-C (Cys-C)and creatinine (Cr)in chronic heart failure (CHF)in old people.Methods We recruited 183 old patients (>75 years)diagnosed with CHF hospitalized at the Department of Cardiology and the Department of Geriatrics of our hospital from 2010 to 2012. Venous blood was withdrawn to detect the expressions of Cys-C and Cr.After three-year follow-up,the patients’ three-year survival was recorded.Logistic regression model was used to examine the relationship of Cys-C,Cr and other risk factors with the CHF patients’mortality.ROC curve was used to compare the prognostic value of Cys-C and Cr in CHF in old people and statistical method was adopted to analyze the combined use of Cys-C and Cr for determining their value in evaluating CHF prognosis.Results At the end of the follow-up,74 (40.44%)patients died.Serum cys-C and Cr levels of the patients in death group increased compared with those in survival group (P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression showed that age (OR=1.11,95% CI=1.04-1.19),SBP (OR=1.06,95%CI=1.01-1.10),LVEF (OR=0.89,95% CI=0.82-0.95),BNP (OR=4.74,95% CI=1.77-12.69), creatinine (OR=2.04,95% CI=1.03-4.08),and Cys-C (OR=2.97,95% CI=1.44-6.12)were the independent risk factors for the prognosis of CHF.ROC analysis showed that Cys-C was superior to creatinine in AUC value (0.71 vs.0.65;95% CI,0.64-0.78;95% CI,0.58-0.72)(P<0.001).The AUC value of Cys-C and Cr in combination was 0.73 (95% CI,0.66-0.79).Conclusion Cys-C is a stronger predictor of the prognosis of CHF patients than creatinine and the combination of the two can increase the sensitivity and specificity in evaluating the prognosis of patients with CHF.
