Objective: To observe the curative effect of image guided radiation therapy on orbital inflammatory pseudotumors. Methods:28 cases of orbital inflammatory pseudotumors in our hospital from September 2009 to September 2012 were treated with image guided radiation therapy (IGRT) with a single dose of 2GY/F, 1F/d and a total dose of 20GY/10F. Radiation therapy was completed in 2 weeks at 10 times. Results: 23 patients (82%) were completely cured and 3 patients (11%) were partly cured with the total efficiency of 93%. Conclusion:After IGRT treatment, the symptoms in the patients like eye pain, exophthalmos, eye movement disorders and other symptoms were disappeared. IGRT could relieve pain, improve the cure rate and reduce recurrence.

Objective To observe the effects of passive movement on the functional outcome after occlusion of the middle artery in the brain and reperfusion, and to explore the molecular mechanisms involved. Methods Cerebral infarction models were established in rats using left middle cerebral artery occlusion ( MCAO). The survivors were randomly divided into a passive movement group and a natural recovery group. There was also a sham-operated group and a normal group. Passive movement treatment (twice a day, twenty min per time) was started at different times after reperfusion. The expression of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and B cell lymphoma/leukemia-2 gene (Bcl-2) were determined using real-time PCRs. Results Expression of BDNF and Bcl-2 was detected a-round the infarction area in both groups. The expression of BDNF and Bcl-2 was highest in the sub-groups where passive movement was begun 24 or 48 h after the operation. Conclusions The expression of BDNF and Bcl-2 in the brain peaks when daily, moderate intensity passive movement is administered beginning 24 to 48 h after reperfusion. Passive movement might have a protective and rehabilitative effect after cerebral infarction.

Objective To investigate the effect of Exendin-4 (Ex-4) on ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury-induced apoptosis in primary rat cortical neurons and the possible underlying mechanisms. Methods Rat cortical neurons were cultured in vitro, identified by NES-immunohistological staining and immunofluorescence staining, and randomly divided into the following groups: control group,I/R group and Ex-4 group.RT-PCR was performed to establish the existence of active glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R).ELISA was used to measure the neuronal cytoplasmic cAMP level. MTT was used to detect viability. Fluorescent DNA binding dye Hoechest 33258 was used to reveal apoptosis. C/EBP-homologous protein (CHOP) and growth arrest and DNA-damage-inducible gene 34 (GADD34) mRNAs were detected by real-time PCR. Results The apoptosis rate induced by ischemia 6 h/reperfusion 12 h was 77.0% ±5.3% and was decreased to 27.0% ± 3.5% after Ex-4 ( 0. 4 μg/ml ) treating ( t = 19. 462,P < 0. 01 ).Levels of CHOP and GADD34 mRNA in cortical neurons increased since 4 h and peaked at 12 h after reperfusion. Ex-4 group showed a sharp elevation of levels of CHOP and GADD34 mRNA,peaking at 8 h reperfusion, and then tended to decrease. Conclusions Ex-4 has protective effect against rat cortical neurons injury induced by ischemia/reperfusion. The protective effect may be related to inhibition of ESR-related neuron apoptosis via regulation of unfolded protein response.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the type and corresponding operation methods of ulnar lateral mass in distal radial fractures.
METHODSFrom January 2004 to September 2010,32 cases of distal radial fractures with ulnar lateral mass were treated by surgical incision and relocate ulnar lateral mass, including 23 males and 9 females with an average age of (34 +/- 9) years old ranging from 28 to 65 years old. According to the classification of Melone-Doi, 2 cases with type I, 24 cases of type II, 6 cases with type III. The operative appoach involved palm-radial, palm-ulnar, radial-dorsal. Among them, 28 patients with closed fractures were fixed with plate, 4 cases (including 2 cases of open fractures) were fixed by Kirschner pin and braces.
RESULTSThirty-two patients were followed up for 8 to 18 months with an average of 12 months. All fractures were healing without complications. According to modified Gartland-Werley scoring system (GWSS), the total score was 1.12 +/- 0.45, the remain deformity was 0, subjective evaluation was 0.50 +/- 0.30, objective evaluation was 0.30 +/- 0.21, complications was 0.40 +/- 0.09; the result was excellent in 21 cases, good in 11 cases.
CONCLUSIONThe location of ulnar lateral mass in distal radial fractures is one of the important prognostic factors in wrist function and surgical treatment is an effective method of fixing ulnar lateral mass in distal radial fractures.

OBJECTIVETo observe the therapeutic effect and relevant mechanism of shuxuening Injection (SI) in treating patients with active ulcerative colitis (UC).
METHODSTotally 91 patients with active UC were randomly assigned to 2 groups, 44 in the control group and 47 in the treatment group. Patients in the control group received routine treatment, while patients in the treatment group additionally received intravenous injection of SI (15 mL), twice daily for 14 days in total. Colonoscopy was performed before and after treatment. The therapeutic effect was assessed by Mayo scoring system and the grading of activities evaluated by Baron endoscope. Serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α were detected by ELISA. The activity of SOD was detected by xanthine oxidase method. The content of MDA was detected by thiobarbituricacid (TBA). Besides, 20 healthy subjects were recruited as the healthy control group.
RESULTSTotally 82 patients completed the study (40 in the control group and 42 in the treatment group). There was no statistical difference in serum levels of IL-6, TNF-α, SOD, MDA, the Mayo score and endoscope grading between the two groups before treatment (P >0. 05). Compared with the healthy control group, serum levels of IL-6, TNF-α, MDA significantly increased (P <0.01), and the serum SOD level decreased (P < 0. 05) in the treatment grup and the control group before treatment. Compared with before treatment in the same group, serum levels of IL-6, TNF-α, MDA, the Mayo score and endoscope grading all decreased in the treatment group and the control group after treatment (P <0. 01, P <0. 05). Compared with the control group after treatment, serum levels of IL-6, TNF-α, MDA, the Mayo score and endoscope grading all decreased (P <0.01, P <0.05), the serum SOD level increased (P <0.05) in the treatment group after treatment. The serum SOD level was obviously negative correlated with serum levels of IL-6, TNF-a, Mayo score, and endoscope score (r = -0. 621, -0.638, -0. 509, -0.787, P <0.01). The serum MDA level was obviously positive correlated with serum levels of IL-6, TNF-α, Mayo score, and endoscope score (r =0.711, 0. 882, 0. 525, 0. 639, P <0.01).
CONCLUSIONSI could improve inflammatory injury and clinical symptoms of patients with active UC, and its mechanism might be associated with antioxidant and scavenging oxygen free radicals.

Microbiology 2008;0(11):-
Field studies were conducted for a season to determine potential for alterations in the rhizosphere fungi quantity dynamics and dominant populations of 4 wild sugarcane clones(S.spontaneum L.) with different UV-B sensitivity under an enhanced ultraviolet-B(UV-B,280 nm~310 nm) radiation. The quantity of rhizosphere fungi was most in tillering stage, second in seedling stage and lest in elongating stage and maturing stage, the sequence wasn’t alternated by UV-B radiation. The rhizosphere fungi quantity of tolerant clone was obviously increased and greater than the sensitive clone under the enhanced UV-B radiation, however, the number of dominant populations decreased and Penicillium was the dominant population during the periods of 4 wild sugarcane clones.
