Purpose　To explore the effects of antibiotics and herbs with removing pathogenic heat from blood on ovarian granulosa cell morphological and functions in female rats.　Methods　The granulosa cell of 30 d age SD female rats was collected,several drugs were added to the culture fluid.The culture fluid were collected to measure the sex hormone by radioimmunoassay.The cell organs of granulosa cell were measured by transmission electron microscope.　Results　Organs of the granulosa cell almost disappeared and perinuclear vesicle were founded in Amikacin sulfate group and Rhizoma zedoariae group.The progesterone levels were lower than in salline group (P<0.05).The estrogen levels of Amikacin group were lower than in saline group (P<0.05).　Conclusions　Ovarian function were obstructed in female rats when Amikacin,Rhizoma zedoariae were directly used.

Objective To explore the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features of primary malignant pericardial mesothe- lioma.Methods Seven cases of primary malignant pericardial mesothelioma,in 4 females and 3 males,with the age ranged from 22 to 51 and a mean of 40 years old,were studied with clinicopathological,immunohistochemical and histochemical techniques,The pertinent litera- ture was also comprehensively reviewed.Results 3 biopsy specimens and 4 surgical specimens,including 2 autopsy specimens,were stud- led.The main clinical symptoms were palpitation and short breath,which were aggravated after movement.The longest course was 4 years,and the mean disease course was 12 months.The chest films demonstrated an obviously increase in heart shadow,and the pericardi- um was thickened in some cases.CT clearly showed tumorous shadow in 2 cases.The histopathologic picture showed tubular type in 2 ca- ses,papillary in 2,signet ring cell type in 1 and myofibroblast types in 2.In 2 autopsy specimens it was found that pericardium was dif- fusely thickened.In one case the tumor was metastasized to the right lung,mediastinum,and pulmonary hilar lymph node.In another case there was metastasis to right kidney.Immunohistochemical staining showed that the neoplastic cells of all cases were positive for CK5/6, calretinin,CK.vimentin and EMA,but negative for CEA.In the histochemical staining seven cases,the malignancy was positive for CI to different extent,but negative for HCL Conclusion Immunohistochemistry and histochemistry play an important role in diagnosis and dif- ferential diagnosis for primary malignant mesothelioma and other tumors in pericardium.

To observe the inhibitory effects of puerarin on angiopoiesis of endometriotic tissue, and to explore the regulatory effects of puerarin on tumor-related gene expression of endometriosis.

Objective To evaluate the clinical outcomes of external fixator with lumbopelvic distraction spondylodesis in treatment of vertically unstable pelvic fractures. Methods From January 2008 to March 2009, 9 patients (4 males and 5 females) with a vertically unstable pelvic fracture were treated with modular external fixator with lumbopelvic distraction spondylodesis. According to the classification of Tile, 9fractures were classified as type C. This fixation construct comprises a vertical lumbopelvic distraction component which fixed L4.5 and the posterior superior iliac spine and a transverse fixation which fixed anterior iliac spine with external fixator. Results All patients were followed up 12-18 months after surgery, with an average of 14.3 months. Postoperative X-ray showed satisfactory reduction of pelvic fracture. Pelvic fractures healed in all patients without loss of reduction 3-6 months after operation. According to Matta reduction evaluation criteria, 6 patients were excellent and 3 good. For the two patients with sacral neurological injuries,appropriate surgical decompression was performed to improve the symptom and minimize the deformity. No iatrogenic complications of neurovascular injury occurred. Patients now walk unassistedly without pain in the waist or legs, and with no shortening of lower limbs or claudication. By considering symptom and satisfactory scores, the Majeed functional assessment revealed that seven patients had excellent results and two good at one year. Conclusion External fixator with lumbopelvic distraction spondylodesis that allowed early mobilization and ambulation, with general applicability and definite safety, is an effective surgical technique for the treatment of vertically unstable pelvic fracture.

BACKGROUND: Ultrasound-medium frequency electrotherapy has better pain-relieving effect,whether it involves enkephalin and the like neurotransmitter is still not very clear, it is necessary to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of the pain response in rats received ultrasound-medium frequency electrotherapy.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the pain-relieving effect of ultrasound-medium frequency electrotherapy and its influence on the enkephalin content in rats, aiming to probe its underlying mechanism and relationship with neurotransmitter enkephalin.DESIGN: Randomly controlled study taking experimental animals as subjects.SETTING: Department of Physiotherapy, First Hospital Affiliated to China Medical University, Institute of Basic Medicine, Peking Union Medical CollegeMATERIALS: This experiment was carried out at the Institute of Basic Medicine, Peking Union Medical College between June 2002 and March 2003. Forty healthy male Wistar rats were adopted and randomized into four groups,namely methionine enkephalin detection experimental group and control group,as well as leucine enkephalin detection experimental group and control group with 10 rats in each group ,amongst which methionine enkephalin experimental group and leucine enkephalin experimental group were generally designed as experimental group ,with the other two group as control group.METHODS: ①Rats ín the experímental group were subjected to ultrasound-medium frequency electrotherapy with frequency of 0.8 MHz in manner of geminal pulse,the modulatìng frequency was 100 Hz and ultrasound intensity of 0.9 W/cm2;the carrier frequency of medium frequency electricity was 4 kHz with modulating frequency of 100 Hz in manner of continuous wave,the electric current of medium frequency was 2 mA and acting time of 10 min. rats in control group received the same dealing,but the higher voltage of ultrasound-medium frequency electrotheprauetic instrument was not used, thereby no energy output was available. tail flick test(TFr) was used to test rat algesthesia,and stopwatch was used to record the time for tail flick(s) that was taken as the value of pain threshold. ②The threshold of pain was tested at 10 minutes instantly after ultrasoundmedium frequency electric stimulation,and then pituitary (removing the posterior pituitary lobe) and hypothalamus were obtained to detect the content of methionine enkephalin and leucine enkephalin by using radioimmuno assay.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The changes of the pain threshold after treatment,the content of methionine enkephalin and leucine enkephalin.RESULTS: Totally 40 rats were enrolled in the experiment and entered in the results analysis. ① The changing rate of pain threshold in two experimental group were 265.79% and 272.90% respectively,the difference was of no statistical significance (P ＞ 0.05). ②After ultrasoundmedium frequency electrotherapy,the content of methionine enkephalin and leucine enkephalin in pituitary and hypothalamus were obviously higher than before treatment [ The changing rate of methionine enkephalin and leucine enkephalin in adenohypophysis was 300.48 ±36.21)% and(204.61±68.65)% , respectively, compared to (239.80±59.98)%and(205.53±51.62)% in hypothalamus, P ＜ 0.05]. ③Linear regression analysis revealed that the variance of the pain threshold was positively correlated with the content of methionine enkephalin in adenohypophysis(r=0.91 ,P ＜ 0.01), suggesting the increment of methionine enkephalin in adenohypophysis was closely connected with the increment of pain threshold,and the level of methionine enkephalin in adenohypophysis would be higher than that in control group by 117.02% when the value of pain threshold increased by100%.CONCLUSION: One of the important mechanisms for the pain-relieving effect of ultrasound-medium frequency electrotherapy might be the increase of methionine enkephalin in adenohypophysis.

A 5-year-old Mongolian girl from Inner Mongolia presented with a painless,round skin lesion on the left cheek for 10 months.Several weeks prior to the development of lesions,her left cheek was seratched by a dog.Subsequently small asymptomatic erythematous papules developed at the scratched site and gradually enlarged.Direct microscopy of scales from the lesions revealed septate,branching hyphae and fungal culture grew Eurotiom amstelodami(perfect stage of aspergillus).She was initially diagnosed as cutaneous aspergillosis and treated with itraconazole 200 mg per day for 2 months,but limited improvement was achieved.Histopathological examination with Wright-Giemsa staining of skin biopsies revealed abundant leishman Donovani hodies intracellulatry and extracellularly in the dermis and subcutaneous tissue; PAS staining of tissue specimens showed no fungal element and fungal culture was negative.She was finally diagnosed with cutaneous leishmaniasis.After treatment with terbinafine 125 mg per day for 2 months,the lesion subsided.

Objective To establish a chromogenic assay for blood-plasma collagenase Ⅳ in order to evaluation the reference range of collagenase Ⅳ in the plasma of healthy individuals.Methods The assay was based on measurement of terminal amino group with succinylated gelatin as substrates and TNBS as chromogenic reagent.The optical density of each reaction was determined at 405 nm using a Sunrise microplate reader.Chromatographic and detection conditions were optimized and performance of the methed was evaluated by recovery experiments and precision experiments.It was compared with ELISA.The levels of collagenase Ⅳ in 112 health persons'plasma were determined and the data were analyzed by SPSS statistical software.Results The whole determing time was within 1.5 h,the linear range of this method was 1.5-10.0 mg/L,and the minimum detection limit was 0.965 mg/L.They were well correlated with ELISA results (R~2=0.999 7,P＜0.01).The within-run CV was less than 3.16%and between-run CV was less than 9.81%.The 95%confidence interval of collagenase Ⅳ in healthy plasma was 33.38-49.80 mg/L.Conclusion This chromogenic assay for blood-plasma collagenase Ⅳ can be used for measurement of collagenase Ⅳ in blood-plasma and the reference range of collagenase Ⅳ in healthy plasma was established.

Objective To investigate the influence of age on liver histopathological feature of patients infected with chronic hepatitis B. Methods Liver biopsies were performed on 114 patients with chronic hepatitis B. The biochemical tests were measured by routine automated techniques. Serum hepatitis markers including HBsAg, anti-HBs, HBeAg, anti-HBe, and anti-HBc were assayed by using a microparticle enzyme linked immunosorbent assay. HBV-DNA was measured with quantitative polymerase chain reaction assay. The grades of liver necrosis/inflammation and fibrosis were compared between four groups with different age: younger than 20years, 20 ～ 30, 31 ～40, and older than 40 years. Results All 114 patients had liver histological changes with different degree. 75.4 percent (89/114) of cases had 2/over 2 grades of liver necrosis/inflammation, and 47.4 percent (54/114) of cases had 2/over 2 stages of liver fibrosis.There was no significant relation between the level of ALT and age or between the level of ALT and the grades of liver necrosis/inflammation and fibrosis( P ＞0. 05 ). The significant difference in degrees of liver inflammation and fibrosis was found among three age groups ( x2 = 30. 86, P ＜ 0. 01; x2 = 21.17; P ＜0.05 ). The grades of 1 iver inflammation and fibrosis increased with the increased age of the patients. Conclusion These results suggested that age was an independent factor for the disease progression. It was very important to undertake liver biopsy for patients with CHB more than 30 years to reveal the liver histopathological characteristics and guide the treatment.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the clinical characteristics of elderly patients with spinal tuberculosis and explore its clinical effects with anti-TB drugs alone.

METHODSFrom January 2008 to July 2010, the data of 36 patients with spinal tuberculosis underwent conservative treatment of anti-TB drugs alone were analyzed. There were 19 males and 17 females with an average age of 73.5 years (ranged, 60 to 85). All patients were in the active phase with high ESR and CRP levels and were treated with 3HRZE/6-9HRE (course from 9 to 12 months). According to clinical symptoms, chemical examination, radiological image to adjust drug and depending on VAS score to evaluate pain.

RESULTSAll the patients were followed up from 8 to 24 months with an average of 15 months. Tuberculose of 31 patients healed after chemotherapy from 9 to 12 months and ESR and CRP recovered normally. Levofloxacin and para-amino salicylic acid were used in 4 cases because of 4 cases occurred drug fast for RFP or INH, after 15 months, their obtained healing. Symptom of 1 case got worse during chemotherapy, and surgical treatment were performed, after 3 months, ESR and CRP recovered normally, X-ray and CT showed spinal osteosclerosis and fusion without significant kyphosis and internal fixation loosening. Cobb angle was respectively(17.6+/-2.3) degrees, (18.1+/-2.7) degrees before treatment and last follow-up (P>0.05). MRI showed abscess was absorbed and spinal inflammation subsidised. VAS score was respectively 6.5+/-1.7, 1.4+/-0.5 before treatment and last follow-up (P<0.05). Seven patients had complications relating with drug adverse reaction,after discontinuation and treated with clinical symptom,the patients recovered normally.

CONCLUSIONAnti-TB drugs alone can obtain satisfactory effects in treating early senile spinal tuberculosis, but strict supervision and individual administration should not be disregardful.
