Objective To explore the effects of the neotype hand-arm sling on shoulder subluxation and transferring movement in hemiplegic stroke patients. Methods Thirty hemiplegic stroke survivors with shoulder subluxation and poor elbow flexor muscle tone (<2 on the Modified Ashworth Scale).were selected and randomly divided into three groups.Group 1 was trained in static upright standing, plus 10 min of sit-to-stand training and 20 min of walking training with no support for the hemiplegic, subluxed shoulder.Group 2 did the same training using a bagtype shoulder sling, and group 3 used the neotype hand-arm sling.Index finger palpation was used to evaluate the degree of shoulder subluxation, and the Five Times Sit-to-Stand (FTSST) and Timed Up-and-Go (TUG) times for the three groups were compared. Results In the static standing training, both the bag-type sling and the neotype hand-arm sling could effectively reduce shoulder subluxation. However, after 10 min of sit-to-stand training the neotype hand-arm sling was found to be significantly superior to the bag-type shoulder sling in improving shoulder subluxation, with the latter having no effect on shoulder subluxation. In the 20 rin of walking training, the neotype hand-arm sling provided significantly more effective support than the bag-type shoulder sling, although both could support the shoulders. Those using the neotype sling had shorter FTSST times, though there were no significant differences in the average TUG times. Conclusions The neotype slings can more effectively counter shoulder subluxation in upright stance, especially during sit-to-stand maneuvers and walking. It might have positive effects on transferring ability.

Objective To analyse the suspected hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer (HNPCC) in mismatch repair protein (MMR) expression of hMLH1 and hMSH2. Methods Immunohistochemical staining method was used for the detection of hMLH1 and hMSH2 protein expression in 193 cases suspected HNPCC patients, the deletion of MMR proteins was identified as highly suspected HNPCC cases. Results Of the 193 patients with suspected HNPCC hMLH1/hMSH2 abnormal expression rate was 29.02%; ≤30 years old was 40%, 31 ~ 40 years old was 28.05%, 41 ~ 50 years old was 28.71%,3 suspected HNPCC showed the deletion of hMLH1/hMSH2 protein expression at the same time ,; In the right colon , the left half colon and rectal anomaly detection rates were 40.74%, 32.65%and 18.89%; hMLH1/hMSH2 deletion was 46.15%with family history. Conclusions The deletion of MMR protein is closely related to age, site and family history in suspected HNPCC, and the deletion of hMLH1 is an important factor to induce early-set colorectal cancer. The deletion of hMLH1/hMSH2 at the same time indicates that hMLH1/hMSH2 genes may play important role in the incidence of HNPCC.

AIM: To study the effects of Bingcha Embolus on the proliferation, apoptosis and cell cycle of astrocytes in vitro in terms of serum pharmacology. METHODS: The cerebral cortex astrocytes of neonatal Sprague-Dawley rats were cultivated in vitro, and the purified astrocytes were randomly devided into Bingcha Embolus groups (high dose, middle dose, low dose) and control group after being identified by means of immunocytochemical method. After the incubation of 48 h with sera, MTT was employed as a proper method to detect the proliferation of astrocytes. The ratio of apoptosis and different cell cycle phases were measured by Flow Cytometry. RESULTS: The results of MTT showed that the cell number of Bingcha Embolus groups (high dose, middle dose) were obviously fewer than that of the control group (P

Objective To investigate the effect of Astragalus Polysaccharide on peripheral circulation myeloid derived suppressor cells (MDSC) in lung cancer and its clinical effect. Methods 100 patients with advanced non small cell lung cancer were selected and divided into 2 groups, 50 cases in the control group treated with chemotherapy aalone, 50 cases in the experiment group received injection of Astragalus Polysaccharide on the basis of the control group, peripheral blood MDSC levels, peripheral blood T lymphocyte subsets levels, serum ARG I activity, TNF-α, IL-6 levels, the clinical effect and incidence of adverse reactions were compared after the treatment. Results Compared with the control group, peripheral blood levels of MDSC (Lin-HLA DR-\CD33+\CD11b+) was lower after treatment in the experiment group , peripheral blood levels of CD3+, CD4+T lymphocytes and CD4+/CD8+ were higher, and CD8+T lymphocytes level was lower after treatment, serum levels of ARG I activity, TNF-α, IL-6 levels were lower after treatment, (P<0.05) , the total effective rate in the control group(42.0%)was lower than the experiment group(64.0%), (P<0.05), the incidence of gastrointestinal reaction(40/24), 3 ~ 4 degree of leukocyte reduction(26/12), liver function damage(19/9), renal damage(17/7) in the control group were higher than the experiment group (P<0.05). Conclusion Astragalus Polysaccharide can significantly reduce the peripheral circulation MDSC (Lin-HLA DR-\CD33+\CD11b+) level in patients with lung cancer, improve T lymphocyte immune function, inhibit the activity of serum ARG I, reduce the level of TNF-αand IL-6, effectively improve the clinical efficacy, and reduce the toxic and side effects of chemotherapy.

Objective To evaluate the effect of external direct current shock on left atrial(LA) diamension and volumes after cardioversion for atrial fibrillation(AF) and the relation between LA size and function. Methods The initial study population included 68 patients with AF.According to cardioversion patterns, the patients were divided randomly into cardioversion with direct-current shock(36 patients) and cardioversion with drugs(32 patients). Echocardiographic evaluations included LA size and volume,LA passive and active emptying volumes were calculated, and LA function was measured as LA ejection force (LAEF).The correlation between LA diameters and volumes and LA systolic function was analyzed. Results LA was dilated in all the patients during AF and the superior-infra dimensions of LA decreased after restoration of sinus rhythm in the patients reverted with external direct current shock and the patients reverted with durgs (P

Objective: To investigate the effects of culture medium osmolarity on the proliferation of human hepatoma cell line HHCC. Methods:Cell proliferation was analyzed by MTT assay and cell cycle analysis was carried out by flow cytometry. Results:Hyperosmolarity decreased significantly the absorbance (A) of HHCC cells and cell number, and hyposmolarity have counter effects. Compared with control, hyperosmolarity blocked cell cycle progression at the G 1 phase, while hyposmolarity accelerated cells into S phase from G 1 phase, and the effect of hyposmolarity was weakened by chloride channel blocker NFA. Conclusion:Culture medium osmolarity influenced the proliferation of HHCC cells by mediating cell cycle.
