Objective To investigate if the effects of integated traditional Chinese and westetrt medicine treat ing diabetic osteoporesis.Methods 120 patients aging from 50 to 70 years were randomly recruited into two groups according to theirgender,namely DN1 and DN2.DN1 groupwastreatedwitll vitamin D3 and DN2 groupwastreatedwitll vitaminD3 plus Tanggukang capsule.Results X-ray showed that the bone density in the DN2 group WaS higher than DNI group,and the difference was significant(P＜0.05).Conclusion The integrated traditional Chinese and western medicine has good effects in treating diabetic osteoporosis.

To emphasize the great function of medical engineering science in the development of sanitarium through analyzing the actual status of medical engineering science in military sanitarium,especially the actual status of management for medical equipment. Starting from the overall management of medical equipment,the reinforcement of medical engineering construction in sanitarium shall ceaselessly develop the connotation of medical engineering and improve the professionalism of medical engineering staff through various ways,so that it can contribute to the healthy,stable and fast development of military sanitarium.

By analyzing the present medical metrology in army medical service units,the importance of medical metrology is emphasized in the development and construction of every unit.In particular,manifold methods should be used to unceasingly improve the professional quality of medical metrology personnel.The development and construction of this subject should be unceasingly expanded in its connotation.It is expected to promote the development of medical service units in a healthy,stable and rapid way by strengthening the construction of medical metrology.

This review focuses on the current literatures on the therapeutic potential of non-renal derived adult stem cell transplantation for kidney disease.Although the therapeutic mechanism remains debatable,some reports suggest that hematopoietic stem cell transplantation holds potential for treatment of renal diseases such as renal ischemia reperfusion injury,IgA nephropathy and lupus nephritis.Mesenchymal stem cell(MSC) are capable of homing to injured kidney and contribute to activate intrinsic kidney cells,promote angiogenesis,inhibit oxidative stress and reduce apoptosis,inflammation and renal fibrosis.These renoprotective effects are likely mediated by paracrine/autocrine mechanism via cytokine and microvesicles from MSC.Pluripotent stem cells may be induced from fibroblast,mesangial cells,renal tubular epithelial cell and urine epithelial cell.Induced pluripotent stem cell(iPSC) can differentiate into renal lineage cells.The derivation of kidney disease-specific iPSC opens new avenues for the resolution to limited donor availability in kidney transplantation and for treating kidney diseases such as diabetic nephropathy and autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease.

Objective To investigate the effect factors and the relationship of diagnostic system efficiency as soft copy reading with medical LCD.MethodsThirty chest images were selected from PACS on-line.Three of high,mid and low-experienced radiologists interpreted the images on different types of displays independently.Design four display levels based on five factors influencing diagnostic system efficiency,including view distance (0.3 m,0.6 m,0.9 m,1.2 m),monitor resolution ( 1 MP,2 MP,3 MP,5 MP),illuminant level (50 Ix,100 Ix,200 lx,400 lx),view angle (0°,15°,30°,45°) and angle of negative effect light (0°,30°,60°,90°).Three indices of misdiagnosis frequency,diagnosis time and frequency of unable to recognize were analyzed.Orthogonal experimental design and software SPSS 13.0 were used to analyze the results.Results The indices were much different for different factors at different levels.According to the index of average misdiagnosis frequency,extreme difference value of view angle was the lowest (1.4) and angle of negative effect light was the highest (5.0).Extreme difference value of view distance,monitor resolution and illuminant level were 2.9,2.8 and 2.5,respectively.ConclusionsThe order of different factors influencing diagnostic system efficiency is as follows: angle of negative effect light,view distance,monitor resolution,illuminant level and view angle.

BACKGROUND: Caspase-3 is a cysteine proteinase that can promote cell apoptosis. Ciliary neurotrophic factor has many kinds of biological activities, such as protecting various neurons from injury, especially motorial neurons, thereby reducing the occurrence of nerve cell injury.OBJECTIVE: To observe the Influence of ciliary neurotrophic factor on spinal cord caspase-3 expression in different ages rats following sciatic nerve injury, aiming to make further investigation about the changing regularity and modulating character of peripheral nerve damage at various ages rats.DESIGN: Randomized controlled experiment.SETTING: Ultrasound Department and the 5th Research Institute of Daping Hospital, Field Surgery Research Institute of the 3rd Military Medical University of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: This experiment was carried out at the Field Surgery Research Institute of the 3rd Military Medical University of Chinese PLA from April 2000 to December 2001. Altogether 810 wistar rats including infant rats with body mass of 30-100 g (birth age of 20 days), adult rats of 200-350 g (birth age of 4 m), elder rats of 400-800 g (birth age of 18-24 m),were selected with 270 rats in each age stage. Female and male does not limit.METHODS: [1] Experimental animal grouping: Various age rats were randomly divided into normal group (n=18), ciliary neurotrophic factor group(n=126) and physiological saline group (n=126), rats in ciliary neurotrophic factor group and physiological saline group were subdivided into 1 day, 3days, 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 12 weeks subgroups. [2] Animal model preparation: In Ciliary neurotrophic factor group and physiological saline group, rats were cut off a piece of sciatic nerve of 2 mm long, both ends connected with silica tube for constructing neuranagenesis cab, in which 15 μL recombined ciliary neurotrophic factor (25 mg/L) was injected in ciliary neurotrophic factor group, and 15 μL physiological saline in physiological saline group. [3] Preparation and examination of specimen:Six rats were randomly selected from each group, lumbar L3-5 spinal cord were obtained for carryingonnation, caspase-3 activity examination and Western blotting examination.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: [1] Expression of spinal cord caspase-3 with IHC assay. [2] Distribution and expression intensity of spinal cordcaspase-3 by Western blotting technique. [3] Changes in caspase-3 activity.RESULTS: Altogether 810 rats completed the experiment, all data was entered the final result analysis. [1] Expression of spinal cord caspase-3 with IHC assay: After injury, neuronal caspase-3 expression became strengthened at injured side of various age physiological saline groups, which obviously increased at posttraumatic 2 weeks and 4 weeks, but less expressed at 8 weeks and 12 weeks; while in ciliary neurotrophic factor group, posttraumatic caspase-3 expression was mostly obvious at 2 weeks and 4 weeks. [2] Distribution and expression intensity of spinal cordcaspase-3 by Western blotting technique: Caspase-3 expression was not significant difference between various age subgroups in normal group(P ＞ 0.05). Comparing to the same age normal group and non traumatic group, caspase-3 expression was strengthened at 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks in various age physiological saline group and ciliary neurotrophic factor group damages (P ＜ 0.05-0.01); in ciliary neurotrophic factor group, caspase-3 showed weaker expression at 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks in infants; 2weeks and 4 weeks in adults, 4 weeks in elders comparing to corresponding physiological saline group, difference was significant (P ＜ 0.05-0.01).The comparison between untraumatic side of each group and normal group showed no statistical difference (P ＞ 0.05). [3] Changes in caspase-3 activity: In child, adult and elder physiological saline groups, caspase-3 activity was increased in traumatic spinal cord, moreover caspase-3 activity was higher than elder and adult group at various age point (P ＜ 0.05-0.01); in child, adult and elder ciliary neurotrophic factor groups, caspase-3 activity is lower than physiological saline group (P ＜ 0.05-0.01). After damage,caspase-3 activity at traumatic side in physiological saline group and ciliary neurotrophic factor group was difference from normal group but without significant meaning (P ＞ 0.05), except the expression in child posttraumatic 12 weeks group was lower than normal group (P ＜ 0.05).CONCLUSION: After sciatic nerve damage, caspase-3 protein expression and activity were found to be increased in spinal cord of different age groups rats which can be reduced by extragenous ciliary neurotrophic factor, which playing protective role on spinal cord nerve cells, such protection would gradually attenuated in child group, adult group to elder group in turns.

ObjectiveTo investigate the significance of clinical feature in the source localization of epileptogenic zone in children with frontal lobe epilepsy.MethodsThirty children who were diagnosed frontal lobe epilepsy consecutively admitted to the pediatric department of Shengjing hospital from Oct 2010 to Jun 2011 were recruited for retrospective study.All the cases were subject to video-electroencephalogram monitoring.Results Seventy-six episodes with clear origins of the electroencephalogram were monitored in 30 cases,including orbital frontal attack 11 times (14.5％),dorsolateral frontal attack 33 times (43.4％),mesial frontal attack 32 times (42.1％ ).The correlation analysis showed that the head and eye deviation (47 times,61.8％ ),asymmetric tonic seizures (32 times,42.1％ ) and parakinesia seizures (29 times,38.2％ ) prompted the focus was located in the dorsolateral frontal and mesial frontal.But there was no significant difference between the two areas ( x2 =10.58,9.67,11.55,P ＞0.05).The vocalization,manual pedal automatism and emotional seizure prompted the focus was located in the dorsolateral frontal and orbitofrontal;and the emotional seizure was significant differences between the two areas(x2 =38.68,P ＜0.001 ).Emotional seizure was the characteristic of orbitofrontal attack.Conclusion The clinical features have important significance in the judgment of the source localization of epileptogenic zone in children with frontal lobe epilepsy.The emotional seizure could be considered as the characteristic attack of orbitofrontal.

A safe and effective vaccine against the human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) is expected to have a considerable impact on elimination of acquired immune deficiency syndrome. Despite decades of effort, an effective vaccine against HIV-1 remains elusive. In recent years, the Thai HIV Vaccine Efficacy Trial (known as RV144) showed a reduction in HIV-1 acquisition by 31%, but this agent could not delay disease progression in vaccinated individuals. Clinical analyses of experimental data and experiments in vitro have revealed two main types of immunogen design: induction of broad-spectrum neutralizing antibody (bNAb) and cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL) responses. bNAb can prevent or reduce acquisition of infection, and its main immunogens are virus-like particles, natural envelope trimers and stable bNAb epitopes. An effective CTL response can slow-down viral infection, and its main immunogens are "mosaic" vaccines, "conserved immunogens", and the "fitness landscape" of HIV-1 proteins. This review summarizes the strategies as well as progress in the design and testing of HIV-1 immunogens to elicit bNAb and CTL responses.
