Objective To explore the clinical value of serum procalcitonin(PCT)and C-reactive protein(CRP)combination detec-tion in early diagnosis of liver cirrhosis complicating spontaneous bacterial peritonitis(SBP).Methods The peripheral blood sam-ples were collected from 30 cases of liver cirrhosis complicating SBP,30 cases of simple ascites liver cirrhosis (non-SBP)and 45 healthy subjects as control group.The serum PCT level was detected by the dry immunofluorescence quantitation method and the serum CRP level was detected by the immunoturbidimetry.The sensitivity and specificity of PCT,CRP and PCT combined with CRP in diagnosing liver cirrhosis complicating SBP were compared and the relationship between PCT levels and prognosis was ana-lyzed.Results Compare with the healthy control group and the non-SBP group,the serum PCT and CRP levels in the SBP group were markedly increased(P <0.05).The sensitivity of PCT,CRP and PCT combined with CRP in diagnosing liver cirrhosis compli-cating SBP was 93.3%,90.0% and 96.6% respectively,and the specificity was 90.0%,75.0% and 95.0% respectively.Conclusion The combination detection of serum PCT and CRP can increase the sensitivity and specificity of the diagnosis and has more clini-cal value in early diagnosing liver cirrhosis complicating SBP.

Objective To evaluate the effects of preoperative regional artery chemotherapy (PRACT) on gastric carcinoma. Methods Celiac arteriography was performed by transfemoral artery catheter according to Seldinger's method and superselective catheterization proceeded to the supplying artery of focus of lesion. Antineoplastic agents of Fluorodeoxyuridine (FUDR)(0.8 g/m 2), epirubicin(40 mg/m 2), oxaliplatin(80 mg/m 2) were infused into regional artery by a single administration. The specimens from 14 cases of gastric carcinoma(GC) who received PRACT were separated into pre operation group and post operation group. Both microscopic study to observe the necrosis of cancer cell and TUNEL(TdT mediated dUTP nick end labeling) method to detect the state of apoptosis were performed respectively in the two groups. Correlation of apoptosis index (AI) between the two groups, as well as correlation between the situation of necrotic tumor cell and the blood vessel, was analyzed. To investigate the immunological activities of the recombinant human phosphatase D2 (rhPLD2) in vitro and in vivo, especially its ability to reduce inflammatory reactions, the cDNA fragment encoding rhPLD2 was cloned into prokaryotic expression vector pET30a by RT-PCR and the recombinant protein rhPLD2 expressed in E.coli was purified from the inclusion bodies, while the anti inflammatory activity of rhPLD2 was determined by the amount of eosinophils in bronchoalveolar fluid(BALF) and blood and the expression of IL-5 and MMP-9 in lung tissues of guinea pig model of chronic asthma. It was found that the rhPLD2 recombinant protein was obtained from human Daudi cells by cloning to E.coli, which contained no membrane-binding site and signal peptide. The cDNA sequence encoded 631 amino acid residues (GenBank Accession Number: AY178289). The purity of the rhPLD2 approached up to 76% with a bioactivity of 50.9745 units/L (0.9212 g/L). In addition, the anti inflammatory effect of rhPLD2 protein could be demonstrated in the guinea pig model of chronic asthma after treatment with rhPLD2 protein, such as down regulation in the expression of the inflammatory cytokine IL-5. It is concluded that the anti-inflammator activity of the recombinant human truncated PLD2 protein produced from the E.coli plasmid can be demonstrated both in vitro and in vivo.

ObjectiveTo improve the teaching quality of medical humanity education in medical university.MethodsA cluster sampling survey was given to 448 sophomores who studied the outline of medical humanities course in military medical university,and the data were descriptively and statistically analyzed.ResultsThe survey shows that 90％ sophomores satisfy with this course,95％ sophomores understand the importance of medical humanity education,and the students have more requirements on education resources and teaching ways.ConclusionOutline of medical humanities course is important to cultivate the medical humanity spirit of medical students,and the course still needs more improvements.

Objective To histomorphometricly assess changes occurred in the alveolar ridge following different methods of socket preservation and to compare them against natural healing without interventions. Methods The second、 third and fourth mandibular premolars were extracted from six beagles. Six extraction sites in each dog were randomly assigned to three treatments as follows:natural healing (T1), Bio-Oss Collagen (T2) and immediate implant with Bio-Oss (T3). Six month after surgery, the dogs were euthanized and tissue samples were sectioned, fixed and mounted, then were stained with toluidine blue. The histologic studies and morphological measurements were performed by using an optical microscope and a digital image software. Results Reabsorption in the buccal aspect of the alveolar crest of ridge was showed in all groups. With respect to the mean vertical bone loss of the buccal bone plate, T3 is lower than T1 and T2(P<0.001 ), while no significant differences were observed between T1 and T2. With regard to horizontal dimension of the alveolar process , a statistical significance could be found at 3mm and 4mm below the crest of ridge in group T1 and T3(P=0.017, P=0.042), while no statistical differences were found between other groups. Conclusions Both techniques of alveolar ridge preservation were not able to completely preserve the original bone volume after tooth extraction. Immediate implant placement in combination with Bio-Oss seems to have the potential to limit the reabsorption of the alveolar process efficiently , but the bone preserving effect of Bio-Oss Collagen is undesirable.

Objective To evaluate the therapeutic effect of small bone flap craniotomy decompression of posterior cranial fossa and duraplasty in the treatment of Chiari malformation type Ⅰ.Methods The clinical data of 45 Chiari malformation type Ⅰ patients who were treated with small bone flap craniotomy decompression of posterior cranial fossa and duraplasty were retrospectively analyzed,31 cases among them with syringomyelia.Results According to Tator etc.standard,1 month after surgery,the excellent in 30 cases,good in 15 cases.Follow up from 6 months to 6 years,the excellent in 37 cases,good in 8 cases.Among 31 patients with syringomyelia,26 cases were syringomyelia subsided,5 cases were not obvious change.Conclusion The small bone flap craniotomy decompression of posterior cranial fossa and duraplasty can make the craniocervical decompression,and has obvious effect of treating syringomyelia,is safe and effective in treatment of Chiari malformation type Ⅰ.

Objective: To investigate the effect of vitamin B12 on the growth and hemopoiesis of broilers. Methods: The Arbor Acres broilers were fed the experimental diets with different doses of vitamin B12 0.00, 0.008, 0.016, 0.024 mg/kg for 3 weeks. The body weight gain and hematologic indices of the broilers were measured. Results: Vitamin B12 deficiency in the diet could depress the body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of the broilers, decrease the amount of red blood cell and hemoglobin, enlarge the volume of red blood cell, increase the content of each cell hemoglobin, reduce platelet in blood. While 0.008 mg/kg vitamin B12 was added in the experimental diets, the body weight gain and feed conversion ratio of the broilers increased markedly. Furthermore, when 0.016mg/kg vitamin B12 was added to the diet, the number of the red blood cell and the content of hemoglobin of the broilers increased significantly, and the shape and volume of the red blood cell became ordinary. There were significants interrelations between BWG,RBC,Hb,PCV,PLT,MCV,MCH of the broilers and the addition of vitamin B12 in the diet. Conclusion: Vitamin B12 deficiency could result in the megaloblastic animia. 0.02-0.03 mg vitamin B12 per kilo diet was required to maintain the growth and normal hemopoiesis of the broilers.
