BACKGROUND: Surgery is a main method to reconstruct the stability of spine after compression fracture. But the reconstruction of spinal stability for patients undergoing conventional therapy remains unclear.OBJECTIVE: To explore whether spinal stability training is effective on improving pain and motor function of patients with vertebral osteoporotic fractures.METHODS: Patients with vertebral osteoporotic fractures were divided into two groups. The study group was treated with conventional treatments and individualized spinal stabilization training, while the control group received conventional treatments alone. All the subjects were evaluated before and after treatment by numeric pain rating scale (NPRS), 3-meter timed up and go (TUG) and Oswestry functional limitation index (OFLI). The results were compared between the two groups.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: A total of 27 patients were included, including 16 patients in the study group and 11 in the control group. After 4-week treatment, TUG and OFLI in the study group decreased significantly compared with the control group (P < 0.05). But there was no statistical significance between the two groups in the level of NPRS and the amount of changes (P > 0.05). Symptoms and function of both groups were improved after treatments. Individualized spinal stability training is effective to restore the motor function and may be helpful for reducing pain for patients with vertebral osteoporotic fractures combined with conventional treatments.

Objective To investigate the dynamic changes and the clinical significance of T-cell subsets and serum soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R)in neonates with hyperbilirubinemia. Methods Thirty-one neonates with hyperbilirubinemia, admitted to the hospital from Decembr 1,2006 to January 31, 2007, were enrolled and divided into two subgroups: severe jaundice group and mild jaundice group according to the bilirubin level. Thirty-two age-mached healty newborns were as controls(control group Ⅰ). The T-cell subsets and sIL-2R of peripheral venous blood samples from these neonates were measured and compared. Sixteen of these 31 neonates with hyperbilirubinemiawere followed up and another twenty-six age-mached healty newborns were as controls(control group Ⅱ ). The level of serum bilirubin in convalescence of sixteen hyperbilirubinemia neonates and control group Ⅱ were tested and analyzed also. Results The levels of CD3, CD4, CD4/CD8 in the neonates with hyperbilirubinemia were lower compared with those of control group Ⅰ [(54.0±5.1)% vs (62.0±4.7)%, (26.8±5.0)% vs (43.0±4.7)%, 0.8±0.1 vs 1.4±0.2] (P<0.01), but was higher in convalescence than in peak phase[ (62.4±3.3)% vs (55.1±4.2)%, (43.6±2.5)% vs (26.1±4.4)%, 1.4 ± 0.1 vs 0.8±0.1] (P<0.01). The peak level of sIL-2R in the hyperbilirubinemia group was (319.4± 185.2) kU/L, higher than that in the convalescence [(129.7±99.3) kU/L] and in the control group Ⅱ [(171.9±102.2) kU/L] (P<0.01). The serum bilirubin level showed negative correlation with CD4/CD8 ( r = -0.99, P < 0.01 ) and positive correlation with sIL-2R (r=0.95, P<0.05). The sIL-2R level was negatively correlated with CD4/CD8 (r=-0.92, P<0.05). Conclusions Neonates, when suffering from hyperbilirubinemia, are immunosuppressed which may recover with the alleviation of jaundice.

The effect of recombinant human phospholipase D2(rhPLD2)in vivo was investigated on the secretion of serum glycosyl phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase D(GPI-PLD)in guinea pigs of chronic asthma.Ater treating the guinea pigs attacked by chronic asthma with rhPLD2,the GPI-PLD activity detection was canrried out by phase separation of human placental alkaline phosphatase in Triton X-114.Compared with the healthy guinea pigs(NS group),the serum GPI-PLD in the guinea pigs of chronic asthma are much higher than that of control groups,P≤0.01.Our results showed that rhPLD2 could significantly reduce the secretion of GPI-PLD when the guinea pigs were attacked by chronic asthma.

Objective To detect the expression of Per2 and VEGF in NSCLC tissue, and analyze its clinical significance. Methods The expression of Per2 and VEGF was measured in 60 NSCLC and 20 normal lung tissue by immunohistochemistry assay, then the relation with clinicopathological parameters was analyzed. Results The positive expression rate of Per2 in NSCLC and in normal lung tissue were 71.7% and 95.0% ( x2 =4.683,P <0.05 ),while the positive expression rate of VEGF were 58.3% and 15% (x2 =11.295,P < 0.01 ).The negative expression of Per2 in NSCLC was correlated with pathological differentiation or TNM stage( x2 =4.413,6.179,all P <0.05),while the positive expression of VEGF in NSCLC was correlated with pathological differentiation or lymphatic metastasis (x2 =6.524,P < 0.05 ).The expression of Per2 was negatively correlated with the expression of VEGF in NSCLC (r =-0.381,P < 0.01 ).Conclusion The overexpression of VEGF in NSCLC may contribute to invasion and metastasis, while Per2 may be a beneficial prognosis factor in patients with NSCLC.

Objective To investigate the effects of unaggregated amyloid ? protein(A?25~35) on transient outward potassium channel(IA) in Rat Hippocampal CA3 Pyramidal Neurons. Methods Patch-clamp technique with whole cell recording was used. Results Unaggregated A?25~35 inhibited IA in neonatal rat hippocampal CA3 pyramidal neurons and displayed a time-,concentration- and voltage-dependent manner;the dynamic characteristics of IA were influenced:shifted the steady-state activation and inactivation curves to left significantly. Conclusion These results suggest that the inhibition of unaggregated A?25-35 on transient outward potassium channel in acutely isolated hippocampal CA3 pyramidal neurons may be an important mechanism of its toxicity, which participates in pathological changes of AD.

Objective To investigate the effects of intra-articular hyaluronan(HA)injection on the expression of cartilage oligomeric matrix protein(COMP)in synovium of strenuous running rats, and investigate the possibility of predicting the effectiveness of HA based on COMP in synovium. Methods 36 healthy male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group, strenuous running group and strenuous running group and HA injection group.Strenuous running group and HA injection group were intra- articularly injected with HA once a week for 5 consecutive weeks. The histological changes of synovium of knee joint was examined by H.E.staining and immunohistochemical expression of COMP in three groups after 6 weeks' strenuous running. Results Synovial inflammation was less severe in strenuous running and HA injection group than strenuous running group(t =7.15,P <0.01).The immunohistochemical expression of COMP in rats'synovium of knee joint in strenuous running and HA injection group was significantly lower than that in rats'synovium in strenuous running group(t = 6.30,P < 0.01).Conclusions Intra- articular HA injection suppressed synovitis, and the expression of COMP in synovium could be used to predict the effectiveness of HA.
