Objective:To investigate the quantitative expression of Melanoma-associated antigen MAGE-E1 mRNA in glioma, and explore its potential for immunotherapy in glioma.Methods:To establish a quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction ( qRT-PCR) method to quantitatively determine MAGE-E1 mRNA in glioma.A total of 47 human glioma and 14 normal brain tissue specimens were analyzed.MAGE-E1 mRNA was normalized to HPRT1, a housekeeping gene.MAGE-E1/HPRT1 was used to evaluate the expression level of MAGE-E1 mRNA.Results:High-level expression of MAGE-E1 was observed in 7.1%of normal brain and 66.0%glioma tissues,which shown significant difference with P<0.05.There was irrelevant between the expression of MAGE-E1 mRNA and clinicopathogical parameters ,such as gender ,age,histological subtype and grade.Conclusion:With higher expression of MAGE-E1 in glioma tissues,it might be a potential target for immunotherapy of glioma.

Objective To investigate the variation and correlation between tumor necrosis factor-?(TNF-?)and transforming growth factor-?1(TGF-?1)in children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura nephritis(HSPN)in plasma and explore their effects on kidney lesion in children with Henoch-Schonlein purpura(HSP).Methods Plasma TNF-? and TGF-?1 were determined with enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)in 30 cases with HSP,38 cases with HSPN and 30 normal controls,urinary protein excretion with urinary analyze method in these children.Renal biopsies were performed and renal biopsy specimens were observed by light,immunofluorescence and electron microscopy in 32 out of 38 cases with HSPN.The SPSS 11.0 software was used to analyze the data.Results 1.Comparing with normal controls,the plasma level of TNF-? and TGF-?1 in children with HSP increased with significant difference in statistics(Pa

OBJECTIVE To analyze the reasons of misdiagnosis and surgical complications of primary lymphoma of thyroid gland(PLT). METHODS The clinical data of 10 patients with PLT in our hospital from 1992 to 2006 were retrospectively analyzed. RESULTS All of 10 patients were misdiagnosed,the major surgical complication was hoarseness. CONCLUSION The misdiagnosis of PLT is often encountered. Mastering the clinical features,using fine-needle biopsy,rapid biopsy combining immunocytochemical method can diagnose the primary lymphoma of thyroid gland.

Objective To evaluate the performance of high-fluorescence body fluid cell (HF-BF)mode on the platform Sysmex XE-5000 automated blood analyzer,and analyse its clinical application value in diagnosis of meningeal carcinomatosis.Methods E-valuated the performance of HF-BF by using precision test and methodology comparison test.Retrospectively analyzed 295 test re-sults of cerebrospinal fluid in Zhongshan Hospital Affiliated to Xiamen University from June 2010 to September 2012.Results HF-BF on the platform Sysmex XE-5000 automated blood analyzer had high precision,and exhibited a good consistency with cytolgical examination.The percentage of high-fluorescence body fluid cell(HF-BF%)in the meningeal carcinomatosis group was higher than that in other cerebral diseases groups,had statistically significant differences (P < 0.05 ).The cut-off value for HF-BF% was 4.3%,while the area under a receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curve (AUC)was 0.933,the sensitivity was 95.2%,and the specificity was 92.7%.When HF-BF% was over 4.3%,it was more likely to detect tumor cell in cerebrospinal fluid cytology.Con-clusion HF-BF is an effective reference index for the early diagnosis of meningeal carcinomatosis and has significant clinical appli-cation value.

Objective:To investigate association between loneliness and depressive episode among rural older people.Methods:A total of 839 rural adults (aged over 60 years) from Liuyang in Hunan were enrolled by using multi-stage cluster sampling method.The Short-form of the UCLA Loneliness Scale,the Social Support Rating Scale,the Life Events Scale for the Elderly,Quality of Life Scale,and the Activity of Daily Living Scale were used to assess loneliness,the social support condition,the stimulating quantity of negative life events,the quality of life,and the abilities of daily life activities,respectively.The Structured Clinical Interview for DSM-Ⅳ-TR Axis I Disorders questionnaire survey was performed by a face-to-face interview.Results:The prevalence rate of depressive episode among the rural older people was 6.8％.Multivariable analysis showed that the elderly who were with stronger loneliness were the risk factor of depression (OR=1.126,95％CI 1.038 to 1.221).Conclusion:Loneliness is positively associated with an increased risk of depressive episode.
