AIM: To investigate the possible impact of conductive keratoplasty(CK)on intraocular pressure( IOP ).METHODS: 36 eyes of 20 patients with hyperopia underwent IOP measurement with non-contact tonometer (NCT), Goldmann applanation tonometer (GAT) and Schiotz tonometer before and after CK.RESULTS: After CK, a significant decrease was observed by NCT, GAT and Schiotz measurements. The change in IOP readings was not correlated with age, sex,keratometric readings, or attempted correction.CONCLUSION: The applanation tonometer atend to underestimate the true IOP after CK.

Objective To observe the expression of the small heat shock protein (HSP27) in the optic chiasma (OC), optic tract (OT), dorsal lateral geniculate body(LG) and superior colliculus (SC) of the adult golden hamster after intraorbital transection of the left optic nerve (ON). Methods The experimental animals were left to survive for l, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 weeks following ON transection. The animals were perfused with formol-saline and brains were excised, sectioned and stained with the immunohistochemistry. The sections were observed under the light microscope, the optical density (A) was measured and the data were analysed statistically. Results Immunohistochemical results indicated that the HSP27-expressions were not different between the right and left side of the OC, OT, LG and SC in normal or sham-operation controls. However, following transection of the left ON, HSP27 immunohistochemical stainings in the right site of OC, OT,LG and SC were increased, comparing with the left side. The maximum difference of HSP27 immunostaining between the right and left side appeared in the lst week following left ON axotomy. The sharply decrease of the A difference occurred at the 2nd week after axotomy with insignificant changes in the subsequent several weeks. And the significant A difference was observed in most time except 6th week. Most of HSP27-positive cells had morphological appearances similar to astrocytes with smaller cell body and numerous processes. Conclusion After the transection of monolateral ON, HSP27 expressions in the contralateral optic pathway of brain increased and persisted up to 8 weeks. This result suggested that the increase of HSP27 expression had something to do with the injury of the optic pathway, but the mechanism and biological significance of the increase in HSP27 expression level required to be studied further.;

A strain,Actinobacillus succinogenes CGMCC 1593,producing succinic acid was isolated from bovin rumen,which could pro- duces succinic acid by anaerobic fermentation.A series of morphological and biochemical characteristics and sequence analysis of 16S rDNA reveal that it belongs to Actinobacillus succinogenes.When cultured anaerobically in medium containing 60 g/L glucose as carbon source,the strain produces 25.8 g/L of succnic acid.

[Objective]To analyze the biodegradation properties and active osteogenesis features of implanted composites of gelatin microspheres(GMs) impregnated with calcium phosphate cement(CPC) and recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2(rhBMP-2) in bone defect.[Method]rhBMP-2 loaded gelatin microspheres was incorporated in rhBMP-2/CPC during setting.Thirty rabbits were divided into groups A,B and C(10 each).The rhBMP-2/GMs /CPC,GMs/cpc and rhBMP-2/cpc was implanted into the rabbits of group A,B and C,respectively.The biodegradation properties and active osteogenesis features of implanted composites bone substitute was evaluated by radiography,histology,bone mineral density(BMD)after the composites were implanted into the bone defects at rabbit radius for 6,12 weeks respectively.[Result]Significant implant resorption and bone ingrowth were observed in all rhBMP-2/GM/CPC treated defects while the defects treated with rhBMP-2/CPC implants showed slight resorption of CPC and the defects treated with GM/CPC implants showed slight formation of new bone.[Conclusion]The result of this study suggested that the rhBMP-2/GMs/CPC composite could be used as material for bone graft substitute.

Objective To study the clinical application of Yashiro catheter in chemoembolization of pelvic tumors.Methods Yashiro catheters were used in 11 of 23 cases with pelvic tumors who using Cobra catheter could not insert into homolateral internal iliac artery and median sacral artery,the blood supply arteries of tumors were found and selective chemoembolism was performed.The embolism of main stemof bilateral internal iliac arteries were done except the blood supply arteries of tumors with gelfoam in 12 of 23 cases and resection wasperformed by the same surgeons in 24~48 hours after chemoembolization.Results The time of intubatton in one branch of homolateralinternal iliac artery and median sacral artery was obviously shorten with Yashiro catheters.Superselective intubatton was successful in allpatients.The tumors were easy to strip,less bleeding and short operation time during operation.There were not recurrence followed-up 6~18 months after operation.Conclusion Chemoembolization of pelvic neoplasm by Yashiro is an effective and safe technique,it is beneficial to the removal of the pelvic tumor completely and reducing the recurrence of the tumors or metastasis.

To observe the effect of hypotension induced by metoprolol and nitroglycerin (NTG) on the blood gas and hemodynamics. Method: 36 patients were randomly assigned to two groups. Group Ⅰ with intravenous metoprolol and nitroglycerin infusion (n=18), group Ⅱ with intravenous nitroglycerin infusion (n=18), Result: As compared with those in group Ⅱ, in group Ⅰ NTG dosage decreased by 55.7%. The reflex heart rate augmentation was suppressed, after the discontinuance of drug, the blood pressure increased steadily, rate-pressure prod uct value dereased and hemodynamics was stable. Objective To explore the etiology and treatmen t of radial nerve injury following in ternal fixa-tion for humeral shaft fracture.Methods 15patients were treated in our department from 1997to 2003for radial nerve injury following steal-plate internal fixation.They were selected for this study and followed up from6to 18months.Their injury cause,clinica l manifestation,methods of treatme nt,diagnosis and prognosis were retrospec-tively analyzed.Results The symptoms of nerve injury disappeared in all patients.Their muscle strength of wrist and digit extension returned to grad e V.The electromyogram showed that t heir nerve conduction velocity and l atent period returned to normal.Conclusions Excessive traction,careless manip ulation and steel plate compression are the main causes for iatrogenic radia l nerve injury.The nerve function can be completely recovered with early diag-nosis and early neurolysis.[

OBJECTIVE: To establish the quality standards for Qudu capsules. METHODS: TLC was used to identify Rheum Palmatum, Phellodendron Amurense, Angelica Sinensis and Pheretima Aspergillum in Qudu capsules. HPLC was used to determine the content of the effective ingredient Paeonia Lactiflora. RESULTS: The spots characteristic of Rheum Palmatum, Phellodendron Amurense, Angelica Sinensis and Pheretima Aspergillum were found through detection by TLC. The linear range of Paeonia Lactiflora was 0. 094 4～ 0. 944 0? g( r=0. 999 8) . The average recovery was 99. 94% ( RSD=1. 74) . CONCLUSIONS: This standard can be used for the quality control of Qudu capsules.

Objective To observe and analyze the reasons of intra-abdominal hypertension,and to discuss the influence of intra-abdominal hypertension (IAH) on recipients' respiratory function and its changes after disposition.Method During January to June in 2012,50 patients who had performed orthotopic liver transplantation were involved in this study.Intra-abdominal pressure was measured by AbViser Intra-Abdominal Pressure Monitoring Kit.According to the value of intra-abdominal pressure,the patients were divided into two groups (IAH group and control group).The reasons of IAH were observed and analyzed.Respiratory rate,oxygenation index,and the arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide between IAH and control groups were compared.IAH was dealt with restricting oral input,inserting nasogastric tube,administering enema,inserting ilues tube or placing percutaneous catheter drainage according to reasons.Intra-abdominal pressure,respiratory rate,oxygenation index,and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide were also observed after disposition.Result The incidence of IAH was 44％ (22/50).The respiratory rate of patients in IAH group was quicker than that in control group.The oxygenation index in IAH group was lower than that in control group.The arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide in IAH grade I group was not higher than in control group.However,the arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide in IAH grade Ⅱ and Ⅲ groups was higher than in control group.After disposition,the intra-abdominal pressure,respiratory rate and arterial partial pressure of carbon dioxide in IAH groups were decreased from 16.4 ± 3.1 mmHg,33.0 ± 5.2 L/min and 47.6 ± 9.4 mmHg to 10.5 ± 1.8 mrnHg,19.7 ± 4.1 L/min and 39.9 ± 2.9 mmHg respectively,while the oxygenation index was increased from 202.7 ± 72.9 mmHg to 350.5 ± 98.5 mmHg.Conclusion The incidence of IAH after orthotopic liver transplantation was high.The influence of IAH on patients' respiratory function was serious.After timely and proper disposition,the respiratory function of patients with IAH could be improved.
