Objective To evaluate the relationship between 5,10-Methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase(MTHFR) gene polymorphisms and colorectal cancer(CRC).Methods Studies were selected based on the criteria for inclusion.The Meta-analysis software,REVMAN 4.2,was applied for checking the heterogeneity across the studies and calculating the pooled OR.The results were evaluated by the analyses of publication bias and sensitivity.Results A total of 9 787 cases and 12 986 controls from 18 studies for C677T and a total of 4 422 cases and 5 819 controls from 9 studies for A1 298C were included.No heterogeneity among the studies was found.For codon 677,the frequencies of CC,CT and TT genotypes were 46.48%,43.81% and 9.71% in cases,and 45.03%,43.08% and 11.89% in controls,respectively.The pooled OR of TT vs.CT+CC was 0.80(95%CI 0.74～0.87).For codon 1 298,the frequencies of AA,AC and CC genotypes were 53.60%,39.39% and 7.01% in cases,and 53.31%,38.67% and 8.03% in controls,respectively.The pooled OR of CC vs.AC+AA was 0.84(95%CI 0.72～0.97).Conclusions MTHFR 677TT is at lower risk of developing CRC and 1 298CC genotypes might be associated with the decreased risk of developing CRC.

OBJECTIVE:To provide reference for drug production,parchase and use in local governments,health care depart-ment,hospitals,manufacturers and sales enterprises,etc. METHODS:By consumption sum sorting method,the information of 14 categories and key types in 34 hospitals from Chongqing area during 2012-2014 were analyzed statistically such as sales,produc-tion manufacturers. RESULTS:The consumption sum of 34 hospitals from Chongqing area increased by 15%-17% during 2012-2014. The consumption sum and proportion of anti-infective drugs showed a downward trend,decreasing by 3.28%. Those of respi-ratory system drugs and anti-tumor drugs had the largest increase,with increasing rate of 79.01% and 69.39%,respectively. Do-mestic drugs accounted for about 73% market share,and sales of imported drugs increased more than domestic and joint-stock drugs,increasing by 40.17%. Among 6 Chongqing pharmaceutical manufacturers on the top 100 consumption sum shortlist,total consumption sum of 3 manufacturers had increased;the consumption sum of top 10 foreign pharmaceutical manufactures increased year by year. CONCLUSIONS:The consumption sum of drugs is increasing in Chongqing area. Anti-infective drugs accounted for less than 16%,which is the achievements of clinical application of antibiotics special rectification activities for 3 years. Both respi-ratory system disease and malignant tumor have high incidence in Chongqing area. Domestic drugs still are main types in hospital. Foreign manufacturers develop well in China,but Chongqing pharmaceutical manufacturers show unsatisfactory development pros-pect.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the resistance of clinical isolated strains to the commonly used antibacterials in our hospital 2007-2008.METHODS Clinical isolated strains and sensitivity of drugs were detected by ATB system.The result of drug sensitivity was judged by CLSI standard and analyzed with statistical software WHONET5.3.RESULTS Altogether 3150 strains bacteria were isolated,17.4% were Gram-positive strains and 82.6% were Gram-negative strains,and the top five isolates were Pseudomonas aeruginosa,Escherichia coli,Klebsiella pneumoniae,Acinetobacter baumannii,and Staphylococcus aureus.The reasistance rate of Gram-positive strains to minocycline was 15.4%.Five VRE strains were isolated.Various Enterobacteriaceae bacteria were sensitive to imipenem meropenem,cefoperazone-sulbactam and piperacillin-tazobactam,and their rate was 86.5% to 97.7%.Some of Acinetobacter and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia were multidrug resistant.CONCLUSIONS It is serous that multidrug resistance of isolated strains of the patients exists in our hospital.

?Advances in genome-wide analysis have revealed that up to 90%of the human genome is transcribed.However, only approximately 1% of RNA transcripts encode proteins, and the remaining transcripts are noncoding RNAs.Noncoding RNAs can be roughly divided into small noncoding RNAs (<200nt ) and long noncoding RNAs ( LncRNAs, >200nt ). Small noncoding RNAs include microRNAs, transfer RNAs and small nucleolar RNAs, whereas the long noncoding RNAs comprise ribosomal RNA, natural antisense transcripts, etc. Although the biosynthesis and biological activities of microRNAs are well studied through bioinformatics and active biological molecules analysis, the understanding of LncRNAs on these aspects is still limited.LncRNAs play multiple roles in regulating gene transcription and translation, and epigenetics.Aberrant LncRNAs expression can occur in various pathological processes and significantly related to the pathogenesis or poor prognosis of ophthalmological diseases. In this review, we will focus on the characteristics and regulatory functions of LncRNAs that are commonly associated with ophthalmological diseases.

Objective To compare the efficacy of weight loss,metformin and rosiglitazone in women with polycystic ovary syndrome(PCOS).Methods A randomized controlled trial(RCT)was carried out in Peking Union Medical College Hospital(PUMCH),one hundred and six women with PCOS were assigned to three intervention groups:weight loss,weight loss and metformin,weight loss and rosiglitazone group.Patients were treated with weight loss(diet and exercise),weight loss and mefformin (500 mg three times daily),weight loss and rosiglitazone(4 mg once daily)for three months.Sixty patients completed treatments.Basal body temperature(BBT),total testosterone as well as fasting serum insulin levels and lipid were measured and compared in all patients before and after weight loss.Results No significant differences were found in the baseline characteristics among three groups.In weight loss group 51%(22/43)patients completed treatment,and 23%(5/22)patients resumed ovulation.In weight loss and mefformin group 58%(21/36)patients completed treatment,and 43%(9/21)patients resumed ovulation.In weight loss and rosiglitazone group 63%(17/27)patients completed treatment,and 59% (10/17)patients resumed ovulation.Ovulation rate was significantly higher in weight loss and rosiglitazone group than in weight loss group.There was no significant difference among three groups in body mass index (BMI),waist circumference,waist-hip ratio(WHR),sex hormone,serum fasting insulin and lipid level after treatment.Conclusion Weight loss,metformin and rosiglitazone all can improve ovulation each.

Objective To determine the expression of G-protein coupled receptor 34 (GPR34) in hepatocellular carcinoma tissues.Methods Immunohistochemistry and tissue-array were used to determine GPR34 expression in human hepatocellular carcinoma tissues and matched adjacent tissues.A statistical analysis was performed to establish the potential correlation between GPR34 expression and the patients'clinicopathological characteristics,tumor progression,and prognosis.Results GPR34 is up-regulated in primary hepatocellular carcinoma tissues compared with matched adjacent tissues (P =0.003),and it was shown that GPR34 expression is significantly correlated with tumor size (P =0.024),small hepatocellular carcinoma(0.030) and infiltration(P =0.012),but not with sex,age,grade,chnical stage (all P ＞0.05) ; it was also shown that GPR34 expression had a significant influence on prognosis (X2 =5.617,P=0.018).Multivariate analyses showed that high GPR34 expression is an independent poor prognostic factor for overall survival (P =0.037).Conclusions The up-regulation of GPR34 acts as an potential prooncogene in the development and progression of hepatocellular carcinoma.GPR34 may be a useful diagnostic or prognostic molecular biomarker,and a potential target for therapeutic intervention.
