Objective To investigate the effects of Kinesio taping on function of knees in girls. Methods 20 female students were tested the peak torque of centripedal and eccentric contraction of knee flexion and extension with Biodex isokinetic testing at 60°/s angular velocity, with Kinesio taping, placebo taping and without taping. Their amplitude root of mean square (RMS) of surface electromyography of vastus medialis (VM), rectus femoris (RM) and vastus lateralis (VL) were also recorded. Results For centripedal isokinetic contraction, the relative extensors peak torque was the most as Kinesio taping (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in relative flexor peak torque (P> 0.05). Standardized RMS of VM and VL were the least as Kinesio taping (P<0.01), but not significantly different of RF among all the conditions (P>0.05). For eccentric isokinetic contraction, the relative extensor peak torque of both extensors and flexors were the most as Kinesio taping (P<0.01), while the Standardized RMS of VM and VL were the least (P<0.01), but no significant difference was observed in RF (P> 0.05). Conclusion Kinesio taping may enhance the strength of centripedal, eccentric contractions of quadriceps and eccentric contractions of hamstring, and increase the muscle fibers recruitment of VM and VL.

Neurodegenerative disease is characterized by progressive loss of neurons in specific brain regions that results in neuronal dysfunction of the central nervous system. Although the pathological mechanism is not fully established, the activation of glial cells mediated neuroinflammation appears to be involved. Heat shock protein 70 (HSP70) is originally described as intracellular chaperone, which plays an important role in protein quality control in cells. However, recent study showed that up-regulation of HSP70 had anti-inflammatory effects in the brain. HSP70 protected neurons from damage and improved neurological function by decreasing inflammatory response as indicated by inactivation of glial cells and inhibition of pro-inflammatory cytokine release. So it is of great significance to find new compounds targeting at HSP70 as neuroprotective agents to delay the progress of neurodegenerative disease. This review will focus on the role of HSP70 in neuroinflammation and the recent advances in using HSP70 as a target for the treatment of neurodegenerative disease.

Objective To investigate the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) and its risk factors in Chinese elderly persons. Methods All of the people who underwent physical examination and treatment in the geriatric department of Beijing Hospital during January 2004 to January 2007 were included in the study.Age, body height, body mass index and blood pressure were recorded.Bloody urine was ascertained by phase-contrast microscope, and urine protein was measured by dipstick test. The hemoglobulin, serum eretinine, blood urea nitrogen, blood lipid and serum uric acid were measured by autobiochemical analyzer.HbsAg was checked by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) was estimated by Crockeroft-Gauh equation and abbreviated MDRD equation.Binary logistic regression analysis was used to test the risk factors for proteinuria and CKD.Results The prevalence of proteinuria was 4.9% in 1082 elderly persons. And 47.23% of the elderly suffered from decreased renal function. The morbidity of CKD was 48.43%.Binary logistic regression analysis showed that diabetes(OR= 2.257) and microscopic hematuria(OR=5.324) were the risk factors of proteinuria (both P<0.05).And the risk factors for CKD were hypertension(OR= 1.459), coronary arth'erosclerotic heart disease(OR=3.290), chronic obstructive lung diseases(OR=2.094), malignant tumor(OR=2.072), hyperuricemia(OR= 1.928),anemia(OR=8.122)and hematuria( OR= 1.604) (all P<0.05).Conclusions The morbidity of CKD in Chinese elderly persons was 48.43%.And the related risk factors were diabetes, hypertension, hyperuricemia, coronary artherosclerotic heart disease and chronic obstructive lung disease.

Objective Toinvestigatetheprevalenceofurinaryincontinenceanditseffectonlifequalityamongfemale adultsinHangzhou, andtoprovideevidencetothecontroloffemaleurinaryincontinence. Methods Aquestionnaire survey was performed in Gongshu and Xiacheng districts in Hangzhou from October 2013 to June 2014,and 4 563 women aged over 20 years were interviewed through a questionnaire including International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Lower Urinary Tract,IQ-FLUTS and demographic information.Single and multi factor logistic regression analysiswereusedtoanalyzetheriskfactorsofurinaryincontinence. Results Atotalof4785questionnairesweresent, and 4 563 effective questionnaires were recovered, with a recovery rate of 95.4%.The prevalence of urinary incontinence was 33.5%(1 530/4 563),and female with older age tended to have a higher prevalence of UI(P<0.01).Among which stress urinary incontinence (SUI ),urge incontinence (UUI )and mixed urinary incontinence (MUI ) were accounted for 20.2%(922/4 563),3.0%(135/4 563)and 10.3%(473/4 563)respectively.UUI and MUI had a greater effect on quality of life.According to the multi factor logistic regression analysis, gravidity, age, constipation, pelvic surgery and fat (BMI>24)wereriskfactorsforurinaryincontinence(P<0.05).Conclusion Becauseofthehighprevalenceofurinary incontinence among female adults, more attention should be paid to urinary incontinence suffers in order to improve the quality of life of female adults.

Objective To assess the absorbance rate of the fat after the operation of breast augmentation of the repeated injection of low volume, using ultrasonic imaging method. Methods Thirty three patients were injected with low volume of autologous fat (50-60 ml per time) to bilateral breasts for 1-5 times and breast sonographic examination was performed to evaluate the grafted fat tissues. The thickness of the retromammary fat layer before and after each injection was measured to calculate the absorbance index. Results The 264 points of breast were measured in this study. The fat was distributed in the retro-mammary fat layers at 224 points of the breast and in the pectoralis major muscle layer at 32 points of the breast, and the others distributed in the mammary gland layer. The average thickness of the retromammary fat layer increased gradually from 0.2 cm before the first operation to 1. 0 cm after the fifth operation. The average absorbance index one month after each operation was 34 %-66 %. Conclusion The present study demonstrates that breast augmentation by repeated autologous fat graft with low volume injection at each time is applicable and satisfactory and that breast ultrasound is an accurate and simple method to e-valuate the absorbance index.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2014;49(2):252-255
To investigate the influence of the difference enhancers on the transport mechanism of chlorogenic acid (CGA) across Caco-2 cells model, a RP-HPLC method was adopted to detect the concentrations of CGA. At the concentrations of 20 to 80 microg x mL(-1), the difference of absorption rate constants (K(a)) was not statistically significant. At the concentrations of 40 and 20 microg x mL(-1), the ratios of apparent permeability coefficients (P(app)) of the apical to basolateral and the basolateral to apical were 1.14 and 1.18, respectively. With the effect of enhancers K(a) and P(app) increased, the absorption half-life (T1/2) decreased. CGA passed through the Caco-2 cell membrane mainly by passive transport. It showed that monocarboxylic acid transporter (MCT) could be involved in the across membrane transport process of CGA. Borneol had no effect on the cell membrane transport processes. The order of increasing absorption of CGA caused by the enhancers was sodium lauryl sulphate > sodium taurocholate > carbomer.
