Objective To understand the status and distribution of the Xinjiang Uygur and Han middle-aged and elderly population who suffer from cardio-cerebral vascular disease. Methods From July 2004 to June 2007,multi-stage stratified random cluster sampling methods was adopted to collect the random samples older than 50-year-old suffering from cardiovascular and cerebrovascular disease in South Xinjiang. Results In the 3685 Uygur and Han ethnic elderly people, the prevalence of hypertension, diabetes, lipid disorders, cerebrovascular disease and dementia were 28.20%,6.70%,15.39%,12.46% and 4.10% respectively in the southern border regions of Xinjiang.Except hypertension, the prevalence rate of other cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in Uygurs and hans had significant differences. The survey found that the prevalence rate of dyslipidemia and diabetes in Hans was higher than the Uygurs, while the Uygurs prevalence rate of cerebrovascular disease and dementia. Conclusion The Xinjiang Uygur and Han elderly are faced with a grim situation of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases;there are significant differences for the nationality and gender.

Objective To investigate the principles of combined traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment of early postoperation inflammatory small bowel obstruction(EPISBO).Methods 93 cases of EPISBO were randomly divided into two groups including group A,47 cases received combined traditional Chinese and west- ern medicine treatment, and group B 46 received only western medicine treatment. Results 93 patients were all cured through nonsurgical treatment. The combined traditional Chinese and western medicine treatment was better in symtom improvement and reduce of expense. Conclusion The principle treatment of EPISBO is mainly nonsurgical. The traditional Chinese medicine and somatostatin are very important.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effect of early electro-acupuncture treatment on prevention of post-operative adhesions.Methods40 rabbits were randomly divided into 5 groups: normal control group, model group 1, model group 2, early electro-acupuncture group and later electro-acupuncture group with 8 animals in each group. Muscle adhesion model was established by operation. The early electro-acupuncture group was received the treatment from the 11th to 20th day after the operation; later electro-acupuncture group was from the 21st to 30th day after the operation. The weight, gait and range of motion (ROM) of animals were observed and analyzed.ResultsThe standing, walking and ROM of animals of the early electro-acupuncture group improved; but only few gait indexes improved and ROM not changed in the later electro-acupuncture group.ConclusionThe early electro-acupuncture treatment can prevent the post-operative adhesion of muscles, but not having effect on formed adhesion.

Purpose To establish myocardial infarction model in rabbits and to evaluate cardiac function and pathological changes.Materials and Methods In 35 New Zealand white rabbits, the left anterior descending branch (LAD) of the coronary artery was ligated. The cardiac function was evaluated using echocardiography, and the blood serum brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) level was examined preoperatively, on postoperative day 1, and in 1 week, 2 weeks, 4 weeks and 8 weeks for comparison. Pathological sections and HE staining were performed to observe pathological changes. Results The death rate was 28.6% (10/35). There was progressive increase in left ventricular end systolic diameter (LVESD) and left ventricular end diastolic diameter (LVEDD) at 1 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks (P<0.05). There was progressive decrease in left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and left ventricular fractional shortening fraction (LVFS) at 1 day, 1 week, 2 weeks and 4 weeks (P<0.05). The BNP level started increasing in 1 day, peaked in 1 week, then gradually decreased but remained higher than preoperative level in 8 weeks (P<0.01). Pathological section showed typical myocardial cell degeneration, necrosis, ifbrosis, calciifcation and scar formation. Conclusion This myocardial infarction model is satisfactory with signiifcant decrease of cardiac function and increase of BNP level.

Microbiology 1992;0(03):-
Eighty-five endophytic fungal strains were isolated from the roots、stems and leaves of Polygala tenuifolia Willd, among which, fifty-two from natural plants and thirty-three from cultivated ones. Sev-enty-six strains were classified as twenty-three fungal genera. The inhibitory activity screening to fourteen microbe were conducted research. The results showed that some endophytic fungi had remarkble inhibitory activities to Bacillus subtilis, Shigella sonnei, Escherichia coli, Candida albicans, Fusarium kyrushuense and they were all belonged to Fusarium, Alternaria, Aphanocladium respectively. All of the endophytic fungi isolated from Polygala tenuifolia showed no inhibitory activities to Staphyloccocus aureus, Salmonel-lae enteritis, Bibrio parahemolyticus.

Objective To systematically investigate the efficacy and safety of sublingual immunotherapy( SLIT) in the treatment of a-dults with seasonal allergic rhinitis( SAR) .Methods Literature was retrieved online in CNKI,CBM,VIP,Wanfang data,PubMed,EMBase, Medline,Cochrane Library,et al.After screening literature, data collection and assessment quality, randomized controlled trials relevant to our study were selected independently based on inclusion and exclusion criteria by two researchers.Statistical analyses were conducted by RevMan 5.2 software. Results A total of 13 RCTs were enrolled. The meta-analysis revealed that SLIT provided a significant improvement in aspect of reducing Symptom Scores(SS) and Medication Scores (MS)of adults with SAR,the difference had statistical significance(P<0.000 01). Compared to placebo,SLIT could increase the rate of adverse events( AEs) in the treatment of adults with SAR compared to placebo. The fre-quently reported AEs during clinical trials were oral pruritus, tongue edema, ear pruritus, throat irritation,et al.Conclusion Sublingual im-munotherapy could improve the symptoms significantly and reduce the SS and MS in the treatment of adults with SAR.And its safety could be well tolerated.

Aim To investigate the effects of emodin on the contraction of gallbladder smooth muscle(GBSM)and the L-type calcium current in GBSM cells. Methods Gallbladder muscle strips were obtained from adult guinea pigs and the resting tension was recorded.Gallbladder smooth muscle cells were isolated by enzymatic digestion, and calcium current was recorded by the whole-cell patch clamp method. Results Emodin-induced contraction of GBSM was significantly attenuated by pretreatment with nifedipine.Emodin increased the L-type calcium current in a dose-dependent manner. When 10 ?mol?L-1 emodin was applied to GBSM cells, the amplitude of L-type calcium current at +10 mV was enhanced by(45.2?2.26)%.In the presence of PKC inhibitor, staurosporine, emodin did not significantly affect the calcium current. Conclusion Emodin enhances L-type calcium current via PKC-dependent pathway and promotes gallbladder contraction.
