Objective To determine the antibacterial activities of the alginate impression materials impregnated with carboxymethyl chitosan. Methods Carboxymethyl chitosan with different replace positions, replace degrees, relative molecular masses and deacetyl degrees were added into the dental alginate impression materials by different ratios.Their antibacterial activities were determined using a method according to the Chinese and Japanese standards for testing antibacterial efficacy of antibacterial materials.Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 and Staphylococcus aureus ATCC6538 were used in this test. Results O-carboxymethyl chitosan showed best antibacterial activity.O-carboxymethyl chitosan added into the alginate impression materials had the best antimicrobial activity on Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus in the ratios of 1% and 1.4%,respectively.Its inhibitory bacteria rate could reach 99.99% along with the increase of deacetyl degree. Conclusion The alginate impression materials impregnated with carboxymethyl chitosan have a favorable antimicrobial activity.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of fluoxetine (FLX) on the expressions of BDNF and Bcl-2 in the hippocampus, the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex of conditioned fear (CF) model mice. Forty eight mice were randomly divided into three groups, normal control group, CF stress group and FLX-pretreated CF group. The FLX-pretreated CF group was given FLX (10 mg x kg(-1) x d(-1)) for 7 days before CF stress. After CF stress model was established, all mice were given behavioral experiments to test whether FLX impaired or improved the auditory and contextual fear conditioning. Then mice were sacrificed. The expressions of BDNF and Bcl-2 were detected by Western blotting. The results showed that the freezing time of FLX-pretreated CF group was significantly lower than that of CF group; FLX pretreatment up-regulated the expression of Bcl-2 in the hippocampus at 1 d after CF stress (P < 0.001), but no significant differences was observed at 7 d; BDNF significantly increased in the hippocampus at 7 d (P < 0.001), but no differences at 1 d; the expressions of BDNF and Bcl-2 in the amygdala and the prefrontal cortex were of no obvious differences between CF group and FLX-pretreated CF group at 1 d or 7 d after CF stress. Parallel to these changes, pretreatment with FLX could affect histopathologic changes induced by CF stress. Furthermore, the results indicated that FLX pretreatment could protect against CF stress-induced neurological damage via the activation of BDNF and Bcl-2 in hippocampus.

OBJECTIVE To explore the influence of superoxidase (SOD)-enriched cili juice (CJSOD)on immune function of arseniasis rats,in order to provide a experi mental basis for the search of drugs of immune regulation of the ende mic arsenic poisoning.METHODS Wistar rats were rando mly divided into arsenic 25,50 and 100mg·g-1 groups to be fed 164.67 pp marsenic conta minated grain at levels of 15%,30% and 60%,experi mental period was 90d,CJSOD intervention group was fed with feed contained arsenic 100mg·kg-1 for 90d,then CJSOD was ad ministered at 10mL·kg-1 (6d /week) for 45d.The urine arsenic contents, blood T-ly mphocyte subsets (CD3 +,CD4 +,CD8 + T cell),seru mimmunoglobulin (IgG,IgM,IgA)and complement (C3,C4)were analyzed.RESULTS Co mpared with the normal control group,As 50 and 100mg·kg-1 group had significantly lower CD3 +(46.21 ± 21 .62,31 .31 ±7.73),CD4 +(30.36 ±9.97,25.94 ±12.94)and the ratio of CD4 +/CD8 +(1 .12 ±0.41 , 1 .12 ±0.41 ).As 100mg·kg-1 group showed clearly high levels of C4(81 .18 ±13.23)(P <0.05). Co mpared with the As 100mg·kg-1 group, after intervention with CJSOD,the positive rate of CD3 +(54.06 ±25.77),CD4 +(42.50 ±17.01 ),and the ratio of CD4 +/CD8 +(1 .80 ±0.71 )were significantly increased, while the result of C4 (68.70 ±10.30)and the urine arsenic contents 〔253.82 (158.21 ~494. 11 )〕was significantly decreased(P <0.05).The levels of urine arsenic in rat and CD3 +,CD4 +and CD4 +/CD8 + were negatively correlated, while positive correlation existed between the level of urine arsenic and C4(P <0.01 ).CONCLUSION Arsenic inhibit the immune function in rats.Arsenic load levels were positively correlated with the degree of inhibition.CJSOD preparation can i mprove the immune function of arseniasis rats.
9.Prediction of percutaneous drug permeability using modified theoretical linear solvation energy relationship.
Journal of Zhejiang University. Medical sciences 2003;32(4):352-355
OBJECTIVETo predict the percutaneous drug permeability coefficients with modified regression equation.
METHODSThe semiempirical self-consistent field molecular orbital calculation AM1 method was used to calculate the quantum chemical parameters and the modified theoretical linear solvation energy relationship was used to obtain the regression equation of the permeability coefficients of drugs through human epidermis.
RESULTThe permeability coefficients (P) of 36 nonelectrolytes were well linearly correlated with their theoretical descriptors including molecular volume (V), hydrogen bond acidity (sum alpha(2)(H)), hydrogen bond basicity (sum beta(2)(H)) and polarizability index (pi(1)). The regression equation was logP=-6.790+1.571 V+0.1550 pi(1)-1.295 sum alpha(2)(H)-2.485 sum beta(2)(H)(n=36,r=0.9777).
CONCLUSIONThe modified theoretical linear solvation energy relationship can be used to predict the skin permeability of drugs.
