2. Research progress in study on chemical constituents and antitumor effects in Hedysarum polybotrys
Chinese Traditional and Herbal Drugs 2015;46(22):3434-3440
Hedysari Radix (HR) mainly consists of chemical constituents such as sacchcrides, flavonoids, phenylpropanoids, etc. HR has broad application prospects in antitumor effect. In recent years, the researches on the antitumor function of HR are frequently reported, and the main active ingredients in HR are polysaccharides, flavonoids, and saponins. The active ingredients of HR mainly inhibit the growth of tumor cells, induce the apoptosis of tumor cells, enhance the immune system, and cooperate with chemotherapy drug to exert the antitumor effect. This paper reviews the advances of the chemical constituents and antitumor effects of HR, providing theoretical basis for its further development and utilization.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical effect of the method by using an expanded post-auricular skin flap combined with autologous rib cartilage framework for correction of concha-type microtia.
METHODSThe operation were performed in three stages. The expander was implanted under post-auricular skin at the first stage and expanded skin flap was formed. At the second stage, the expander was taken out and the expanded skin flap was transferred with autologous rib cartilage framework and skin graft for correction of microtia. At the third stage, the reconstructed ear was revised and new concha was formed.
RESULTSFrom August 2008 to August 2011, 108 cases with 113 concha-type microtia were corrected by this method. All patients healed primarily and were followed up for 6 months to 3 years. The reconstructed ears had a good appearance and position, and were symmetric to ear on the healthy sides.
CONCLUSIONSUsing expanded post-auricular skin flap combined with autologous rib cartilage framework is a reliable method for concha-type microtia.

Chinese Journal of Anesthesiology 2012;32(8):979-981
Objective To investigate the effects of inhalation of isoflurane at different time points on hypoxic-ischemic brain injury in neonatal rats. Methods One hundred and eighty 7-day-old Sprague-Dawley rats, weighing 12-16 g,were randomly divided into 6 groups (n =30 each):sham operation group (group Ⅰ),cerebral hypoxia/ischemia (H/I) group (group Ⅱ),and inhalation of isoflurane at different time point groups (groups Ⅲ-Ⅵ).Brain ischemia was induced by double ligation of left common carotid artery followed by inhalation of 8 % O2 + 92 % N2 for 2 h at 37 ℃.In groups Ⅲ,Ⅳ,Ⅴ and Ⅵ 1.5 % isoflurane was inhaled for 30 min starting from 0,3,6,12 h after H/I respectively, while the rats were exposed to 30% O2 and 70% N2 only in groups Ⅰ and Ⅱ.The survival rate at 7 days after H/I was recorded. The animals were sacrificed at 7 days after H/I.The brains were removed and the right and left cerebral hemispheres (CH) were weighed separately. The ratio between left/right CH was calculated. The density of normal neurons in ventral posterior inferior thalamic nucleus and posterior cingulate cortex in left and right CH were measured and the ratio of the density of normal neurons in the left to right CH was calculated. Results Compared with group Ⅰ,the weight of left cerebral hemisphere, ratio between left/right CH,and ratio of the density of normal neurons in the left to right CH were significantly decreased in other five groups (P < 0.05).Compared with group Ⅱ,the weight of left cerebral hemisphere, ratio between left/right CH,and ratio of the density of normal neurons in the left to right CH were significantly increased in groups Ⅲ,Ⅳand Ⅴ (P < 0.05).There were no significant differences in the indices nentioned above among groups Ⅲ,Ⅳand Ⅴ (P > 0.05).There was no significant difference in the survival rate among groups Ⅱ-Ⅵ (P > 0.05).Conclusion Inhalation of 1.5% isoflurane for 30 min within 6 h after cerebral H/I can reduce the cerebral injury in neonatal rats.

Cancer Research and Clinic 2009;21(7):447-449
Objective To study the clinicopathologic features and differential diagnosis of deep angiomyxoma(DAM). Methods Seven cases of DAM were collected from 2000 to 2008. All the patients were examined by microscopy and immunohistochemistry. Results 6 patients with DAM were females and 1 was male, with median age of 48.5 years. Median maximum dimension was 5.9cm, with invasive growth pattern. The tumor cells of DAM were infantile, spindle or stellate, diffuse and nodular arrangement. A distinctive histologic feature of DAM was its vascularity. Non-arborizing, thin-wall, ectastic capillaries or more commonly, small thick-wall vessels were dispersed throughout the tumor. Mast cells and extravasated red blood cells were frequently found in the stroma, immunohistochemical study showed that 7 cases were positive for vimentin, desmin, ER and PR, 5 for CD34 and SMA, and negative for S-100 and CK. Conclusion DAM is a rare soft tumor that occurs principally in the vulval and vagina region of woman. Misdiagnosis has happened frequently. Immunohistochemical staining are helpful to diagnosis for DAM, but no significance to distinguish it.

Chinese Journal of Emergency Medicine 2006;0(12):-
Objective To explore the effect of lysophosphatidic acid(LPA)on blood-brain barrier(BBB) permeability and its possible mechanism. Methods LPA or LPA+suramin(L+S)were stereotaxically injected into the right eaudate nucleus in SD rats in vivo.Evans blue(EB)was used to quantitatively measure the permeability of BBB at different time points. The expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 was detected by immunohistochemistry technique. The pathological ultrastruetural changes of BBB were assessed by transmission electron microscopy. Results The BBB permeability began to increase after LPA administered into ipsilateral eaudate nucleus, and reached the peak at 24h.Then the permeability of BBB gradually lowered after 48h.In comparison with the same time points of control group, there were quite significant differences(P<0.01).After L+S was injected, the change of BBB permeability had differences in comparison with those of LPA group in the same time points,(P<0.05).MMP-9 positive cells were mainly vascular endothelial cells. The numbers of MMP-9 positive blood vessels grew at 6h in LPA group, and the expression of it reached maximum at 24h,then the number of it decreased at 48h,showing significant statistical differences in comparison with the L+S group(P<0.01),It was observed microscopically that ultrastrueture of BBB of the LPA group was changed sharply, such as basement membrane roughed and fragmented, astroeyte end-feet swolled markedly and perivaseular space enlarged obviously. But there were no remarkable changes in BBB in L+S group. Conclusion LPA can induce increase of BBB permeability and its possible mechanism is the strong expression of MMP-9 protein produeted by endothelial cells through the mediation of LPA receptor, leading to degradation of basement membrane.
