Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy of 5-aminolevulinic acid-induced photodynamic therapy (ALA-PDT) in the treatment of condyloma acuminatum. Methods Thirty-six cases of condyloma acuminatum were treated with ALA-PDT. Results After the treatment, 33 (91.67%) patients were cured, 35 (97.22%) improved. Relapse occurred in 3 (8.33%) patients. Side effects were noted in 2 (5.56%) patients. Conclusions ALA-PDT is a relatively simple, effective and safe treatment with a lower recurrence rate for condyloma acuminatum, especially for small skin lesions or lesions at specific area. However, the high expense required for multiple treatments with ALA-PDT may restrict its application.

Objective To investigate the feasibility and clinical effects of suture anchors technique for acute distal avulsion fracture of patella. Methods From January 2007 to July 2009, 33 patients(18males and 15 females, ranging from 28 to 72 years, with an average of 49.3 years) were treated with the suture anchors technique. The average time from injury to surgery was 3.5 days(2 to 7 d). Injury reason: traffic accident in 12 cases, injured in daily life in 11 cases, sports injury 9 cases, no clear trauma history in one case. The Bostman evaluation system, follow-up X-ray, and knee mobility were used to analyze the clinical effects of suture anchors technique. Results All patients obtained the follow-up and the average time was 16.5 months(12 to 23 months ). One patient suffered foreign body reaction, and his wound healing was good after operation. The remaining patient wound healing was good. No complications were found in all patients, such as popliteal fossa artery, tibial nerves or peroneal nerve complication. Bostman patella fracture functional score 27.3±2.3 points at the sixth months follow up, 28 cases were rated as excellent, 5 cases were good, and the excellent and good rate was 100%. Six months later, X-ray showed bone healing, knee activity recovered well. The Range of Motion was extension for -2.5°±2.1° and flexion for 122°±5.3°. Conclusion Suture anchors fixation in treatment of acute distal avulsion fracture of patella has a good efficacy, safety and reliability advantages, and without the second operation. This technique provides an alternative in lower pole patella fracture.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of peroxisiome proliferator activated receptor-α (PPAR-α) on the regulation of cardiomyocyte hypertrophy and the relationship between the effect of PPAR-α with PI3K/Akt//mTOR signal pathway.
METHODSCardiomyocyte hypertrophy was induced by isoproterenol (ISO). The cell surface area was measured by image analysis system (Leica). The expressions of atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), β-myosin heavy chain (β-MHC) and PPAR-α mRNA were detected by qRT-PCR. The protein expressions of Akt, mTOR and P70S6K were detected by Western blot. The expression of PPAR-α was suppressed by RNAi.
RESULTS(1) The expression of PPAR-α was significantly reduced in cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. PPAR-α activator Fenofibrate (Feno) increased the expression of PPAR-α and suppressed cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. The inhibitory effect of Feno on cardiomyocyte hypertrophy was reversed by PPAR-α RNAi. (2) Feno significantly inhibited the increase of the protein expressions of p-Akt, p-mTOR and p-p70S6K in ISO induced cardiomyocyte hypertrophy, which could be blocked by PPAR-α RNAi. (3) PI3K antagonist LY294002 (LY) or mTOR antagonist rapamycin (RAPA) markedly-inhibited cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. The inhibitory effects of LY or RAPA on cardiomyocyte hypertrophy were reversed by PPAR-α RNAi.
CONCLUSIONPPAR-α can negatively regulate cardiomyocyte hypertrophy. The effect might be associated with PPAR-α inhiting PI3K/ Akt/mTOR signal pathway.

OBJECTIVETo comparatively observe the curative effect, adverse reaction and compliance of Modified Xiaoyao Pill combining amitriptyline (MXP-At) in treating patients with depression.
METHODSSixty-four patients with diagnosis of depression matched to the Chinese Classification of Mental Disorders (CCMD-3) were randomly assigned to 2 groups, the treatment group treated with MXP-At and the control group with fluoxeline, 32 cases in each group. The curative effect was evaluated by Hamilton depression (HAMD) scale and the adverse reaction was recorded before treatment and at the 2nd, 4th and 12th week of the treatment. Patients were regularly followed up from the 12th week to the 24 th week. The curative effect and compliance in the two groups were compared.
RESULTSThe HAMD score dropped in both groups from the 2nd week of the treatment, and at that time, it was lower in the control group than that in the treatment group (P < 0.05); but at the 4th week, no significant difference was found in the therapeutic effect and the HAMD score between the two groups. However, 3 and 14 cases in the treatment and the control group were relapsed during the 12 weeks of follow-up respectively.
CONCLUSIONMXP-At shows a curative effect similar to fluoxetine on depression but with less adverse reaction, and is not expensive.

Cinobufacino injection is a significant anti-tumor medicine for the treatment of various tumors in clinic, which was made from water extraction of the skin of Bufo bufo gargarizans. In present paper, HPLC-DAD-FT-ICR-MS method was used to identify the major bufadienolides in cinobufacino for the first time. Solid-phase extraction with dichloromethane and silica was used to enrich the total bufadienolides in cinobufacino. Based on the UV and high resolution MS/MS data, 33 bufadienolides were analyzed and characterized. Among them, eight compounds were identified by comparing with standard references unambiguously. This study elucidated the major bufadienolides in cinobufacino, which provided material foundation of cinobufacino and will be benefit for the further pharmacological research.

To obtain chemical constituent information of rat plasma after oral administration of Huang-Lian-Jie-Du Decoction (HLJDD), a LC-FT-ICR-MS method has been established, and both positive and negative ions scan modes were include in the analysis. By comparing their retention time, high resolution mass data of HLJDD extracts, blank plasma and dosed plasma, 38 constituents, including 22 prototype compounds and 16 metabolites, were detected in rat plasma after oral administration of HLJDD. In the 22 prototype compounds, 16 constituents were determined unambiguously by comparing with references. In the analysis of metabolites, phase II reactions like glucuronidation and sulfation were the major biotransformation pathways of HLJDD. M11 was observed as the only phase I metabolite in present experiment. The results will be beneficial for the further pharmacokinetics and pharmacological evaluations of HLJDD.
