OBJECTIVETo observe the prevention and clinical efficacy of combination of Liuwei Dihuang Pill (LDP) and Ginkgo Leaf Tablet (GLT) for early diabetic retinopathy (DR).

METHODSUsing randomized, double-blind, double simulation, parallel controlled clinical trial, 140 type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) outpatients were recruited and assigned to the treatment group and the control group, 70 in each group. All patients received basic Western medicine treatment (such as blood glucose and pressure control). Patients in the treatment group took LDP (8 pills each time, 3 times per day) and GLT (19.2 mg each time, 3 times per day), while those in the control group took LDP placebos and GLT placebos. All treatment lasted for 24 consecutive months. All subjects were followed-up every month. The general clinical data as sex, age, and metabolic data such as blood glucose, blood pressure, blood lipid, and DR prevalence rate were collected and statistically analyzed.

RESULTSThere was no significant difference in levels of blood glucose, blood pressure, or blood lipid between the two groups (P > 0.05). After treatment the DR incidence rate was significantly lower in the treatment group than in the control group [3.1% (2/64) vs 18.6% (11/59), P < 0.05)]. Meanwhile, the DR prevalence rate of the treatment group was also significantly lower than that of the control group [6.3% (4/64) vs 20.0% (13/59), P < 0.05].

CONCLUSIONCombination of LDP and GLT could effectively prevent and treat the development of DR in T2DM patients.

Objective:To investigate and analyze the situation of professional identity of new undergraduates in medical image profession, and guide and arouse the learning initiative, provide education guidance with more pertinence for the professional plan of undergraduate, and enhance employment competence of graduates, and improve the social status of this profession.Methods:The questionnaire survey, comparison of results and trend analysis of relative question for new undergraduates of image specialty were collected and analyzed, and then the general situation of professional identity was obtained.Results: The professional identity of new undergraduates were below the average level, and their cognition for employment situation were not clear, and their evaluations for this profession were lower. Besides, the situations of male were lower than that of female.Conclusion: Face to the trend of fast development of image specialty and shortage of image professionals, the analysis of professional identity for new undergraduates is worthy because it can improve teaching quality, enhance quality for image talent and contribute to establish thorough employment guidance plan for colleges and universities.

Objective To study the changes in cerebral cortex glutamate (G) content induced by isoflurane inhalation alone or combined with 2-amino-5-phosphonovalerate (AP5),a NMDA receptor competitive antagonist.Methods Six adult male SD rats were anesthetized with isoflurane. Dialysis probe (internal diameter=0.05mm) which was connected to a micro-infusion pump filled with artifical cerebrospinal fluid(ACSF) was inserted into cerebral cortex. The dialysate was collected for determination of G concentration. After the baseline MAC for isoflurane was measured, the study was carried out in 4 groups based on the concentration of isoflurane inhalation: group Ⅰ:1%; group Ⅱ:1MAC; group Ⅲ:2% and group Ⅳ: the effect of AP5 on isoflurane MAC value. In group Ⅳ AP5 was continuously infused at a rate of 100 ?g?kg -1?h -1 via the vein in the tail and the MAC for isoflurane was measured again. G concentration of dialysate was measured and EEG and SEP were monitored in every group.Results G concentration of cerebral cortex dialysate was decreasing with increasing concentration of isoflurane from group Ⅰ to group Ⅲ. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of Dickkopf-1 and GATA-6 in laryngeal carcinoma and to discuss their relevance and the roles in carcinogenesis and development of laryngeal carcinoma. METHOD: Immunohistochemical technique was used to detect the expression of Dickkopf-1 and GATA-6 protein in 48 tissues of larynge al carcinoma, 48 para-carcinoma tissues and 20 normal laryngeal mucosal tissues. RESULT: (1) The expression of Dick kopf-1 protein in laryngeal cancer is significantly lower than in para-carcinoma tissues and normal laryngeal mucosa tissues (P < 0.05). (2) The expression of GATA-6 protein in laryngeal cancer is significantly higher than in para-carcinoma tissues and normal laryngeal mucosa tissues (P < 0.05). (3) The expression of Dickkopf-1 and GATA-6 protein in laryngeal cancer is correlated with lymph node metastasis, clinical stage, histological grade (P < 0.05). (4) The expression of Dickkopf-1 and GATA-6 are negatively correlated in laryngeal cancer. CONCLUSION The expression of Dickkopf-1 and GATA-6 may contribute to the carcinogenesis and development of laryngeal carcinoma.

Objective:To investigate mechanical properties,fluorine release behavior and bacteria inhibition effect of hydroxyapatite-improved glass ionomer cement(HA/GIC).Methods:HA/GIC was prepared with HA mass fraction of 28％.Bending strength and compressive strength of HA/GIC and GIC were measured by an universal material testing machine.Microstructure of the materials was observed by scanning microscope technique (SEM).Accumulation of fluorine release was measured by fluorine ion selective electrode.Bacterial inhibition of total bacteria and Streptococcus mutans was monitored by fluorescence in situ hybridization.Results:Bending strength,compressive strength and fluorine release accumulation of HA/GIC were significantly higher than those of GIC (P ＜ 0.05).There were many.irregular polymerized particle monomers and micro cracks within the GIC.In HA/GIC,hydroxyapatite particles were connected with original composition.Bacterial inhibition of total bacteria and Streptococcus mutans by HA/GIC was more effective than that by GIC.Conclusion:HA/GIC has perfect mechanical properties,fluorine release behavior and bacterial inhibition effect.

Objective To compare concurrent chemoradiotherapy and sequential therapy effect on serum MMP-2 and TGF-β1 in local advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).Methods From 2010 January to 2012 December,64 Ⅱ B and Ⅲ B stage patients with pathologically confirmed NSCLC were randomly divided into concurrent chemoradiotherapy group (group A) and sequential therapy group (group B).Each group had 32 patients.Group A was treated with three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy and concurrent chemotherapy with TC or EP.Group B received TC or EP regimen chemotherapy after three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy.Serum MMP-2 and TGF-β1 on those patients from preradiotherapy,radiotherapy in one month to post-treatment were measured by enzyme-linked immunoabsorbent assay.The dynamic changes of MMP-2 and TGF-β1 were compared.Results The remission rates in groups A and B were 90.6 ％ and 68.8 ％,the effective rate of treatment in group A was better than that of group B (x2 =4.730 0,P =0.029 6).The long-term effect analyzed with Kaplan-Meier method,the median time to tumor progression (TTP) were 9.1 months and 8.2 months,there was no statistically significant difference (P =0.100 3).The overall survival rates between two groups after the Log-rank test had significant difference (P =0.048),the median survival time (MST) were 17.8 and 15.9 months,1 year OS rates were 65.05 ％ and 60.24 ％,2 years OS rates were 49.45 ％ and 43.07 ％.The MMP-2 level of A group and B were (276.5±98.2) μg/ml and (263.9±103.5) μg/ml,there was no significant difference (t =0.499 6,P =0.619 1) before radiotherapy,they were (242.1±53.2) μg/ml and (298.7±68.4) μg/ml after radiotherapy,there was significant difference (t =3.694 9,P =0.005) and after treatment were (60.5 ±24.4) μg/ml and (75.2±30.7) μg/ml,there was significant difference (t =2.120 5,P =0.038 0).The TGF-β1 level of A group and B were (1 624.3±454.2) ng/ml and (1 564.9±517.8) ng/ml,there was no significant difference (t =0.208 6,P =0.835 4) before radiotherapy,they were (1 383.5±469.3) ng/ml and (1 785.3±412.6) mg/ml after radiotherapy,there was significant difference (t =3.637 3,P =0.006 0) and after treatment were (610.5±215.4) ng/ml and (750.3±263.7) ng/ml,there was significant difference (t =2.322 6,P =0.023 5).Conclusions Concurrent chemoradiotherapy could effectively antagonize radiation-induced MMP-2 and TGF-β1 expression increased in locally advanced NSCLC.This study suggests that the concurrent chemoradiotherapy can inhibit abilities of tumor invasion and metastasis through decreasing the MMP-2 and TGF-β1 levels.

Objective To investigate the influencing factors of chronic brucellosis.Methods Nested case control method was used to study newly diagnosed patients (n =600) with brucellosis in a cohort study in 2012.Data of general characterstics,clinical presentation,treatment and prognosis of those patients were collected.These patients were followed up for one year,and the chronic patients as the case group (n =248) and the healed patients as a control group (n =260).By means of Logistic multivariate analysis,factors turned brucellosis into chronic were screened.Result The chronic brucellosis-related factors were:gender,veterinary or epidemic prevention staff,muscle and joint pain,fatigue symptoms,and substandard treatment (x2 =5.163,16.445,14.977,17.154,8.813,all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Gender (female),veterinary or epidemic prevention staff,muscle and joint pain,fatigue symptoms,and substandard treatment are probably the chronic brucellosis-related factors
