Exposure to thermal environment is one of the main concerns for manned space exploration. By focusing on the works performed on thermoregulation at microgravity or simulated microgravity, we endeavored to review the investigation on space thermal environmental physiology. First of all, the application of medical requirements for the crew module design from normal thermal comfort to accidental thermal emergencies in a space craft will be addressed. Then, alterations in the autonomic and behavioral temperature regulation caused by the effect of weightlessness both in space flight and its simulation on the ground are also discussed. Furthermore, countermeasures like exercise training, simulated natural ventilation, encouraged drink, etc., in the protection of thermoregulation during space flight is presented. Finally, the challenge of space thermal environment physiology faced in the future is figured out.

AIM: To observe the efficacy of intravitreal injection with ranibizumab combined with laser photocoagulation for macular edema ( ME ) secondary to macular branch retinal vein occlusion( MBRVO) .
METHODS:A retrospective analysis included 33 patients (33 eyes) with ME secondary to MBRVO were taken. All patients received intravitreal injection of 0. 5mg ranibizumab ( 0. 05ml ) at first visit. The continue PRN treatment and laser photocoagulation were based on the visual acuity changes and optical coherence tomography findings. The changes of best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA) , central macular thickness( CMT) , and amplitude density and latency of P1 wave in mfERG were observed before treatment and 6mo after treatment.
RESULTS: Before the treatment, logMAR was 0. 68±0.35, 6mo after treatment was 0. 34±0. 23, BCVA was improved obviously ( P < 0. 01 ), BCVA in 21 patients ( 63.64%) were improved in two rows among all the patients. CMT before treatment was(487. 30±63. 58) μm, after treatment was(238. 84±52. 66) μm(P<0. 01). The amplitude densities of P1 wave in ring 1, ring 2 and ring 3 after treatment were significantly increased(all P<0. 01), and the latencies were decrease ( all P < 0. 05 ). The conjunctival hemorrhage was observed in 2 eyes after treatment.
CONCLUSION: Intravitreal injection with ranibizumab combined with laser photocoagulation for ME secondary to MBRVO can reduce the CMT and improve visual function.

Aim of the present study is to investigate activation effect of nobiletin on cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR) chloride channel activity. CFTR-mediated iodide influx assay and patch-clamp tests were done on FRT cells stably co-transfected with human CFTR and EYFP/H148Q. Nobiletin potently activated CFTR chloride channel activity in a dose- and time-dependent manner. The CFTR blocker CFTR(inh)-172 could completely reverse the effect. Preliminary mechanism study indicated that nobiletin activated CFTR chloride channel through a direct binding way. In addition, ex vivo tests done on mice trachea showed that nobiletin time-dependently stimulated submucosal gland fluid secretion. Nobiletin may be a therapeutic lead compound in treating CFTR-related diseases including disseminated bronchiectasis.

Objective To investigate the value of bone morphogenetic protein-7 (BMP-7) and the kidney shear wave velocity (SWV) in the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic nephropathy. Methods 150 cases of patients with diabetic mellitus were divided into three groups according to 24h urinary albumin excretion (Ualb):normalbuminuria (NA) group, microalbuminuria (MA) group and clinical proteinuria (CA) group;50 healthy subjects were selected as the control group (NC).The levels of blood BMP-7 were detected and the virtual touch tissue quantification (VTQ) was used to detect renal SWV in four groups. Both the BMP-7 level and the renal parenchyma SWV were compared among four groups. Then correlation analysis was made between blood of BMP-7 level and renal SWV in diabetic nephropathy groups. Results Blood BMP-7 level:the lowest was CA group, the middle one was MA group, and the highest was NA group (P <0.05),the NC group and the NA group had no significant difference (P >0.05); SWV measured values:CA group was the highest,MA group was middle one and the NA group was the lowest (P < 0.05),the difference between NC group and the NA group was not significant statistically (P >0.05).The blood levels of BMP-7 and renal SWV had a significant negative correlation (r =-0.612,P <0.05).Conclusions The blood BMP-7 levels downregulate with the progressing of diabetic nephropathy, but the renal SWV increases with the diabetic nephropathy deterioration, and may indirectly reflects blood BMP-7 levels. Both of them have important application values in the diagnosis or treatment of diabetic nephropathy.

Journal of Peking University(Health Sciences) 2003;0(06):-
Objective:To investigate the association between the apolipoprotein A5(APOA5) -1131T/C polymorphism and premature coronary heart disease in northern Chinese Han population. Methods: Using polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) and polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE), we analyzed the genotype and allele distribution in 140 patients with premature coronary heart disease diagnosed by coronary angiography and 156 healthy controls. The levels of serum lipid profiles were also studied by biochemical methods. Results: The allele frequency of APOA5-1131T/C polymorphism in the premature coronary heart disease group was significantly higher (43.2% vs. 33.0%, P=0.011) than that in the control group. Compared with TT homozygotes, CC homozygotes exhibited a 2.809-fold (95% CI 1.331-5.927) increased risk of developing premature coronary heart disease. Logistic regression analysis found that this correlation was independent of sex, age, body mass index (BMI), smoking history as well as serum total cholesterol(TC), high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) levels; In premature coronary heart disease group, the triglyceride(TG) level in CC homozygotes was significantly higher than those in TC heterozygotes or TT homozygotes. Conclusion: The APOA5-1131T/C polymorphism has influence on serum TG level, and the APOA5-1131C allele is associated with the development of premature coronary heart disease in northern Chinese Han population.
