OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of the continuous light force to the donor teeth on the periodontal healing after transplantation.
METHODSThirty-two maxillary and mandibular incisors in four 10-month-old male Beagle dogs were autotransplanted. The pulps were removed in all teeth. The teeth were divided into four groups, one control and three experimental groups. In control group (group 1), the teeth were unloaded. In the other three experimental groups, continuous force (0.49 N) was applied in the 1st (group 2), 2nd (group 3) and 4th (group 4) week, respectively. The dogs were sacrificed in the 8th week. The tissue blocks were demineralized and sectioned perpendicular to the long axis of the teeth. The histological analysis was made.
RESULTSHistomophometric analysis revealed a significantly lower occurrence of replacement root resorption in the group 3 (2.1%) than in the control group (12.5%, P < 0.05). The significant lower incidence of replacement root resorption, and a higher surface and inflammatory root resorption were found in group 2 (6.3% and 68.8%) than in the control group (12.5% and 41.7%, P < 0.05). No significant difference was found between group 4 and control group (P > 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSThe orthodontic force promoted the regeneration of the periodontal ligament and prevented dentoalveolar ankylosis, whereas excessive initial force might cause root and bone resorption.

Background::After neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC), non-pathological complete response of breast cancer patients can benefit from tailored adjuvant chemotherapy. However, it is difficult to select patients with poorer prognosis for additional adjuvant chemotherapy to maximize the benefits. Our study aimed to explore whether the subtypes of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in residual tumors (RT) is related to the prognosis of triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) after NAC.Methods::Data from patients with primary TNBC consecutively diagnosed at the Breast Disease Center of Peking University First Hospital from 2008 to 2014 were retrieved, and the cases with RT in the breast after NAC were enrolled. TILs subtypes in RT were observed by double-staining immunohistochemistry, and counted with the median TILs value per square millimeter as the cut-off to define high versus low TILs density in each subtype. The relationships between the TIL density of each subgroup and the clinicopathological characteristics of the RT after NAC patients were analyzed by Fisher exact test. Disease-free survival (DFS) and overall survival (OS) were analyzed by the Kaplan-Meier method and log-rank statistics.Results::A total of 37 eligible patients were included in this study, and the median follow-up period was 50 months (range 17–106 months). There was no significant correlation between the infiltrate density of CD4 +, CD8 +, CD20 +, and CD68 + lymphocytes and clinic-pathological characteristics. Significantly better prognosis was observed in patients with high CD4 +-TILs (DFS: P = 0.005, OS: P = 0.021) and high CD8 +-TILs (DFS: P = 0.018) and low CD20 +-TILs (OS: P = 0.042). Further analysis showed that patients with CD4 +/CD20 + ratio greater than 1 (DFS: P = 0.001, OS: P = 0.002) or CD8 +/CD20 + ratio greater than 1 (DFS: P = 0.009, OS: P = 0.022) had a better prognosis. Conclusions::Subtypes of TILs in RT is a potential predictive biomarker of survival in TNBC patients after NAC.

The synergistic antibacterial strategy of peroxidase mediated chemodynamic therapy(CDT)and photothermal therapy(PTT)has been proven to effectively resist bacteria. However, the antibacterial effect against Pseudomonas aeruginosa is severely limited due to the factors such as short lifespan of reactive oxygen species(ROS)(<200 ns)and limited diffusion distance(about 20?200 nm).In this study, glucopyranose functionalized MoO3-x(P-MoO3-x)nanoenzyme was successfully synthesized using a one-pot hydrothermal method. This nanoenzyme exhibited both peroxidase-like activity and a photothermal effect. The combined antibacterial performance and biological safety of P-MoO3-x was analyzed and verified.By utilizing specific interactions with glucopyranose and lectin,P-MoO3-x nanoenzyme could target the surface of Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This targeted approach effectively shortened the range of hydroxyl radicals, significantly enhancing the antibacterial effect against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.Under photothermal action,P-MoO3-x could reach the optimal reaction effect at 70℃.Even at low concentrations of hydrogen peroxide(50 μmol/L),it released more hydroxyl radicals. In vitro antibacterial analysis experiments demonstrated that the inactivation efficiency of the P-MoO3-x antibacterial system against Pseudomonas aeruginosa(106 CFU/mL)exceeded 99%.Furthermore,in vivo experiments confirmed the significant therapeutic effects of P-MoO3-x in treating methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA)infected wounds and promoting wound healing, without producing toxicity to cells. In conclusion,P-MoO3-x exhibited excellent antibacterial ability and good biocompatibility, making it a promising anti-infective nanoenzyme with broad application prospects.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the clinical value of multiple sequences derived from dual-source computed tomography (DSCT) dual-energy scan mode in detecting pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
METHODSTotally 23 patients with clinically or pathologically diagnosed pancreatic cancer were enrolled in this retrospective study. DSCT (Definition Flash) was used and dual-energy scan mode was used in their pancreatic parenchyma phase scan (100kVp/230mAs and Sn140kVp/178mAs) . Mono-energetic 60kev, mono-energetic 80kev, mono-energetic 100kev, mono-energetic 120kev, linear blend image, non-linear blend image, and iodine map were acquired. pancreatic parenchyma-tumor CT value difference, ratio of tumor to pancreatic parenchyma, and pancreatic parenchyma-tumor contrast to noise ratio were calculated. One-way ANOVA was used for the comparison of diagnostic values of the above eight different dual-energy derived sequences for pancreatic cancer.
RESULTSThe pancreatic parenchyma-tumor CT value difference, ratio of tumor to pancreatic parenchyma, and pancreatic parenchyma-tumor contrast to noise ratio were significantly different among eight sequences (P<0.05) . Mono-energetic 60kev image showed the largest parenchyma-tumor CT value [ (77.53 ± 23.42) HU] , and iodine map showed the lowest tumor/parenchyma enhancement ratio (0.39?0.12) and the largest contrast to noise ratio (4.08 ± 1.46) .
CONCLUSIONSMultiple sequences can be derived from dual-energy scan mode with DSCT via multiple post-processing methods. Integration of these sequences may further improve the sensitivity of the multislice spiral CT in the diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
