Objective To analyze the amount and allocation of pediatric healthcare resources in Chengdu, and to recommend on local pediatric healthcare resources shortages. Methods Pediatric healthcare resources data of Chengdu came from pediatric relevant data reported regularly at yearend by the counties and districts to healthcare administration of the city.Data from such reports were subject to statistics with various indexes and descriptive analysis.Analyzed in focus was the distribution in 2015 of pediatric healthcare resources of the city among medical institutions of various types, levels and properties,as well as causes for such shortage. Results Tertiary hospitals hold 62.3% of the pediatric beds and 64.2% of pediatricians, and provide around 70% of the medical workload for pediatric outpatients and inpatients, upon the majority of pediatricians with master degree and above, and senior ones of/above associate chief physician titles;Tertiary hospitals have 58.7% of the pediatric beds and 49.7% of pediatricians, yet the outpatients served by specialized hospitals were 5% above tertiary hospitals. Conclusions The imbalance and shortage in total of pediatric resources in Chengdu result from stable source of manpower supply, high professional risk exposure, low income, and long training duration among others.Such measures as a better pediatrician development system, greater incentives for pediatric development, and enhanced development pediatric service consortiums,as well as greater support for private specialized pediatric hospitals. Those measures combined can effectively alleviate the shortage of pediatric resources.

Objective To investigate the expression of engulfment and cell motility protein 1 (ELMO1) in hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC) and its effects on cell migration. Methods The expression of ELMO1 in HCC cell lines and HCC tissues was assessed by Western blot.We used transient transfection with an ELMO1 expressing vector to over-express ELMO1 protein in SK-HEP-1 cells.Over-expression of ELMO1 was confirmed by Western blot.siRNAs specific to ELMO1 (ELMO1 siRNA) were used to knockdown ELMO1 expression.Rho Family Small GTPase Activation Assay, Western blots, transwell assay were used to determine the migration potential of cells.Student's test was employed for statistical analysis. Results The expression of ELMO1 protein was obviously up-regulated in HCC tissues and cell lines (P<0.05).Over-expression of ELMO1 promoted cell migration in SK-HEP-1 cells, while knock-down of ELMO1 showed the opposite effect. Conclusion ELMO1 up-regulation significantly correlates with cell migration in hepatocellular carcinoma.

BACKGROUND:Nanohydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 composite is very close to the human cortical bone in terms of mechanical properties, and has osteogenic activity, which is a safe and reliable bone material. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the effect of nanohydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 composite bioactive supporting material on the restoration of vertebral structure and height. METHODS: Totaly 177 patients with spinal diseases, 116 males and 61 females, aged 17-81 years, were enroled, including 97 cases of spinal fractures, 5 cases of primary tumors of the spine, 17 cases of spinal tuberculosis and 58 cases of cervical spondylosis. The nanohydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 composite bioactive supporting body was filed into the bone grafts of patients and then subjected to anterior decompression and internal fixation. After 36 months of folow-up, imaging analysis, Frankel spinal cord injury classification, bone graft fusion, visual analog scale scores,Short Form 36 and Japanese Orthopedic Association scores were evaluated. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:During the folow-up, except one patient with cervical spine fracture appeared to have slight supporting body displacement, there was no supporting body prolapse or rupture phenomena. The bone graft fusion rate was 96.0%, the average supporting body sinking distance was 1.7 mm. After treatment, 97 patients with spinal fractures had different degree of improvement in the neurological function (P < 0.05); the visual analog scale scores, Short Form 36 and Japanese Orthopedic Association scores were improved significantly in al the 177 patients compared with before treatment (P < 0.05). These results demonstrate that the use of nanohydroxyapatite/polyamide 66 composite bioactive supporting material for spinal reconstruction can improve the bone fusion rate, and restore the vertebral structure and height effectively.

Objective To measure plasma microRNAs dysregulated in patients with pancreatic cancer and to assess the potential of these miRNAs as biomarkers for pancreatic cancer. Methods Thirty-seven patients with pancreatic cancer who underwent pancreatic resection between June 2010 to July 2011 were enrolled in the Lihuili Hospital, and ten healthy volunteers were used as control in this study. The expression levels of miR-190,miR-196a,miR-221 and miR-222 were analyzed using quantitative real time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR).U6 was used as an internal control. The relationships between clinicopathoiogic characteristics of pancreatic cancer and microRNA expression levels were analyzed. Results The relative abundances of plasma microRNAs were significantly higher in pancreatic cancer patients than in the control group. The highly expressed plasma miR-190,miR-196a,miR-221,miR-222 levels did not correlate with clinicopathologic characteristics of patients such as sex, age, tumor maximal diameter, and level of serum CA199.The plasma miR-196a levels showed a positive correlation with TNM stage in pancreatic cancer patients. Conclusions The plasma levels ofmiR-190,miR-196a,miR-221 and miR-222 were highly upregulated in pancreatic cancer patients. These microRNAs in plasma may provide a new method in the early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.

Objective To investigate the effectiveness of radio gu ided surgery (RGS) in lung carcinoma by using ~18F-FDG. Methods Forty mice bearing lung adenocarcinoma were divided randomly into two gro ups according to presence or absence of the lung metastasis. A dose of 200?l (1 00?Ci) of ~18F-FDG was injected via the tail vein. The external radioimmu nography was performed after injection. All viscerae and tumor were detected i n vivo by means of a hand-held gammaray-detecting probe (GDP), and the radio active distribution was analyzed with the well-gammaray detector. Resul ts The tumor images in mice were clear, and the images were best at two hours after injection. The values of %ID/g of tumor and heart obtained by well -gammaray detector were higher than those of other organs. Ratios of tumor/norm al tissue (T/NT) except cardiac muscle being detected by GDP ranged from 3.71 t o 13.57. There was a significant difference between the radioactivity of lung t issues in lung metastasis group and that of control group (P
