Objective To investigate relationship between different degrees of asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis and cognitive impairment. Methods The cognitive function were evaluated with the montreal cognitive assessment scale (MoCA) in 80 patients with asymptomatic carotid artery stenosis and 56 controls, the total MoCA scores and subprojects scores were compared between the patients with different degrees of ACS and controls. Results The total MoCA score, visual space and executive function, attention and delayed recall had significant difference among the mild, moderate, severe ACS patients and control group (all P < 0.05). There was no statistical significance of the total MoCA score and the scores of all subprojects between the patients of mild ACS patients and the control group (all P > 0.05). The total MoCA score and the scores of visual space and executive function , attention and delayed recall in moderate and severe ACS patients were significantly lower than the control group and mild ACS patients (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the severe ACS patients, compared with the moderate ACS patients , performed worse on the cognitive tasks which involved visual space and executive function, attention and delayed recall (P < 0.05). Conclusions Cognitive function is impaired in the patients with moderate and severe ACS,the neuropsychological characteristics are mainly impaired in visual space and executive function, attention and delayed recall.

Objective To study the micro-pore architecture and mechanical properties of porous titanium scaffolds with diamond molecule structure produced by 3D print technology, so as to guide the development of 3D-prinited porous titanium orthopedic implants. Methods Selective laser melting (SLM) and electron beam melting (EBM) were used to fabricate porous Ti6Al4V scaffolds with diamond molecule structure. The micro-pore architectures of those scaffolds were observed using optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM), and universal material testing machine was used to conduct compressive test on the scaffolds. Results Both SLM and EBM techniques had machining error and half-melted metal particles were found on the strut surface. The relative error of strut size produced by SLM and EMB was 20.9%-35.8% and -9.1%-46.8%, respectively. The scaffold with strut width of 0.2 mm could not be produced by EBM. The compressive strength and elastic modulus of the scaffold fabricated by SLM was 99.7-192.6 MPa and 2.43-4.23 GPa, respectively. The compressive strength and elastic modulus of the scaffold fabricated by SLM was 39.5-96.9 MPa and 1.44-2.83 GPa, respectively. Conclusions The manufacturing precision of SLM is higher than that of EBM. Porosity is the main factor that affects the compressive strength and elastic modulus of the scaffolds. In the same process, with the increase of porosity, both the compressive strength and elastic modulus decrease. When the porosities are similar, the scaffolds fabricated by SLM possess higher compressive strength and elastic modulus than those by SLM.

Microsatellite is a genetic marker, explored recently. In order to improve related studies on genetics of Anopheles gambiae, simple sequence repeats of the entire mosquito genome with 1~6 bp nucleotide motifs were analyzed.Abundance and distribution of microsatellites across the A.gambiae genome were analyzed and compared between various (exons, introns and intergenic) regions of all the chromosomes. About 2.14% of the mosquito genome was occupied by SSRs. Chromosome X had the maximum density of SSRs. Abundance orA repeats was similar to C repeats. AC was a little more than two times as abundant much as AG. However, AT and CG repeats were rare. For tri- and tetramer repeats, AGC,AAAC and AAAT predominated while ACG, ACT, AGG, CCG, ATGC, CCCG, ACTG, AACT, ACGT, AGAT, CCGG,ACCT and AGCT were rare. For some pentamer repeats, one was completely absent on a certain chromosome, even on several chromosomes. SSRs in exons of all chromosomes were less abundant than in introns and intergenic regions except for mono- and dimer repeats in exons of chromosome 2L. Abundance and distribution of SSRs on the two arms of each chromosome showed much in common.

A mature appressorium cDNA library of rice blast fungus, Magnaporthe grisea, was constructed in a lambdaTriplEx2 vector by SMART cDNA library containing 2.37x10(6) independent clones about 100% of which harbor foreign cDNA inserts with average size of 660 bp. Of 9 randomly selected clones, 2 expressed sequence tags (ESTs) sequences did not have homologous EST sequences of M. grisea in GenBank. The appressorium cDNA library is suitable for gene expression analysis and function analysis of the late stages of appressorium formation and the early stages of penetration of M. grisea.

International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2010;32(3):200-202
Objective To investigated the effect of TangNaiKang (TNK) on VEGF protein expression of GK rats Thoracic aorta. Methods 51 male GK rats were divided into five groups randomly: model group, pioglitazone group, and TNK treatment group (low, immediate and high dose). Another 10 male Wistar rats were served as normal control group. GK rats were fed with high-grease forage, while normal control group was fed with a standard diet. Fasting blood glucose, general HE staining and VEGF protein expression were detected by immunohistochemistry. Results The fasting glucose had a significant decline in TNK treatment groups. HE staining showing TNK can ameliorate intima thickness, reduce hyperplasia of shallow vascular smooth muscle cell, and improve wavy and plexiform arrangement of elastic lamina. Immunohistochemistry also showed that TNK decreased VEGF protein expression of great vessels. Conclusion TangNaiKang can prevent and cure diabetic vascular complication of GK rats.

Objective To establish and apply the protein chip to detect eleven autoantibodies profile, and evaluate the authenticity and reliability with ANAs protein chip in clinical autoantibodies profile detection. Methods By comparing the results of IIF and ELISA , validation the sensitivity and specificity of ANAs protein chip in clinical autoantibodies profile detection. The autoantibodies detected were anti-SSA-52,anti-SSA-60,anti-SSB,anti-Sm,anti-RNP,anti-Scl-70,anti-Jo-1,anti-dsDNA,anti-rRNP,anti-centromere antibodies and antinuclear antibodies (ANA). To each autoantibody, we have selected 70 positive and 294 negative samples except the 32 rare samples that contain anti-Jo-1 antibody. Results The sensitivity to all the autoantibodies was 100% except anti-SSA52 and anti-SSB antibodies was 95.7%and 98.6% respectively. The specificity to all the autoanbodies was 100% except anti-SSB, anti-RNP-68, anti-Scl-70, anti-dsDNA, anti-CENP-B and ANA was 98.0%, 98.0%, 99.7%, 99.7%, 99.7% and 98.3% respectively. Conclusions To all the eleven antinuclear autoantibodies , the sensitivity is all above 95.0% and specificity is all above 98.0%, which indicate that there is high concordances between the ANAs protein chip and the methods used in clinical screening and confirmation, and it could meet the requirement of clinical autoantibodies profile detection. The protein chip method is fast, easy for detection with the characteristic of high-throughput,high sensitivity and specificity,it is hence recommended to apply ANAs protein chip to detect autoantibodies profile in clinical detection.
