This study investigated whether the curative effect of short-pulse gastric electrical stimulation (GES) on the vasopressin-induced dyspeptic symptoms was mediated by central opioid peptide-producing neurons. Five female beagle dogs implanted with 1 pair of electrodes in gastric serosa were used in a two-experiment study. In experiment one, the brain was scanned by positron emission tomography in 3 dogs with and without short-pulse GES, and the radioactivity in nuclei of solitary tract (NST) and hypothalamus was detected. Experiment two was composed of 4 sessions. In session one, the dogs were injected with vasopressin in the absence of short-pulse GES. With session two, the short-pulse GES was simultaneously given via the electrodes with the injection of vasopressin. In sessions three and four, naloxone and naloxone methiodide was administered respectively in the presence of short-pulse GES. Motion sickness-like symptoms were scored and compared among the different sessions. The results showed that the short-pulse GES significantly increased the radioactivity in NST and hypothalamic nuclei (P<0.05, vs control). The short-pulse GES could ameliorate the vasopressin-induced motion sickness-like symptoms in dogs. Naloxone, but not naloxone methiodide could attenuate the curative effects of short-pulse GES. It is concluded that NST and hypothalamic nuclei may participate in the mediation of the curative effects of short-pulse GES on dyspepsia-like symptoms. Central opioid peptide-containing neurons presumably mediate the therapeutic effect on dyspeptic symptoms of short-pulse GES.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of Chinese herbal therapy on T-lymphocyte subsets in patients with IgA nephropathy (IgAN).

METHODSTotally 36 inpatients and outpatients at Department of Nephropathy, Xiyuan Hospital, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, from June 2011 to June 2013 were recruited in the treatment group, while 20 volunteers were recruited as the healthy control group. Patients in the IgAN group only took Chinese herbal decoctions by syndrome typing for 3 months (except those accompanied with hypertension additionally took antihypertensive agents such as angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor and/or dihydropyridines calcium antagonist). No intervention was performed in the healthy control group. The values of Th1, Th2, and CD4+ CD25+ Treg, and red blood cell number in urine were detected using flow cytometry before and after treatment. 24 h urine protein was detected using inmmunoturbidimetry.

RESULTSCompared with the healthy control group, the CD4+ CD25+ Treg level obviously decreased in the IgAN group, showing statistical difference (P < 0.01). In the IgAN group, Th1, 24 h urine protein, and urine red blood cell counts were obviously lower after treatment, showing statistical difference when compared with before treatment (all P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONChinese herbal therapy could reduce urine erythrocyte number and 24 h urine protein of IgAN patients, and down-regulating Th1 expression might be its mechanism.

OBJECTIVETo compare the effect,safety,and advantage of flexible fixation with paperboard and pad versus short leg plaster in treating the fifth metatarsal base fracture,and establish the standard of diagnosis and treatment of the fifth metatarsal base fractures in flexible fixation with paperboard and pad.

METHODSFrom June 2010 to March 2013,59 patients with the fifth metatarsal base fracture were treated with paperboard and pad fixation or short leg plaster. Patients were enrolled and divided into paperboard and pad treatment group (paperboard group) and short leg plaster treatment group (plaster group) randomly according to the random number table. In paperboard group,there were 29 cases including 9 males and 20 females with an average age of (51.79±11.40) years old; the average course of injury was (11.59±6.58) hours. In plaster group, there were 30 cases including 9 males and 21 females with an average age of (52.13+17.34) years old ;the average course of injury was (11.03±7.06) hours. According to whether the fracture line across the articular surface, in paperboard group there were 14 cases of type A,15 of type B; in plaster group,16 of type A, 14 of type B. According to the degree of dislocation,in paperboard group there were 16 cases of degree I ,13 of degree II ; in plaster group,20 were degree I ,10 were degree II. Fracture was restored according to the type in manual. Patients in paperboard group were treated with paperboard and pad, and patients in plaster group were treated with short leg plaster. Fracture was fixed for 4 to 6 weeks according to fracture healing. On the 2nd, 4th,6th, 8th week and 3rd, 6th month after fixation, patients were followed up, and the foot function score was used to evaluate the function of injured foot. X-ray of injured foot was taken on the 2nd, 4th, 6th and 8th week were used to assess fracture healing.

RESULTSAll patients got complete follow-up. The X-ray result showed that all fracture reached at clinical healing on the 8th week after fixation without skin ulcer,nonunion and displacement of fracture. From the 4th to 8th week after fixation, paperboard group had a higher X-ray score than plaster group, but the difference between two groups had no statistically significance. Repeated analysis result showed that there was interact at different time point and between groups,the difference had statistically significance (P<0.01). The foot function score showed that at all time point, paperboard group had a higher score than plaster group, and on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th week, it had statistically significant difference(P<0.01) between two groups. On the 6th months after fixation,the excellent and good rate of paperboard group was 93.10%, higher than that of plaster group, which was 86.67%. But it had no statistically difference(P=0.483) between two groups.

CONCLUSIONUsing paperboard and pad fixation to treat the fifth metatarsal base fracture has the advantage of simplicity operating,reliable fixation, satisfactory effects, easily obtainable material.

Objective To find out the significance of different radiologieal examinations in the di-agnosis of the prostate carcinoma through studying their radiological misdiagnosis rate. Methods By searching for patients having radiological examination results in the database of prostate carcinoma in Tianjin,got the patients whose examination results were different from prostate carcinoma. Analyzed the misdiagnosis rate of each kind of imaging diagnosis using x2-test retrospectively. Results In all patients searched, the misdiagnosis rate of transabdominal ultrasonography, transrectal uhrasonography (TRUS), CT , MRI was 45.1%, 10.1%, 34.5% and 7.5% respectively. Statistical analysis showed that the misdiagnosis rate of MRI was the lowest, then TRUS, and CT. Transabdominal ultrasonography had the highest misdiagnosis rate. There was not significant difference between MRI and TRUS. Conclusions As an efficient and important screening method, transabdominal ultrasonography still need to get a higher definite diagnosis rate. TRUS don't have obvious advantages over pelvis MRI in the diagnosis of prostate carcinoma except its usefulness in the biopsy of prostate. Pelvis MRI is still the most important imaging diagnosis of prostate carcinoma and should be first choice because of its noninvasive intervention, convenience and lowest misdiagnosis rate.

AIM To investigate the effects of melatonin on rats colitis induced by acetic acid and its mechanism. METHODS The rats colitis model was produced by acetic acid enemas. The experimental animals was divided into 6 groups: normal group,model group,5 ASA group(100 mg?kg -1 ),MT group(2 5,5 0,10 0 mg?kg -1 ), and treated intracolonic with saline,5 ASA and MT correspondingly (1 time per day, from the 24 h after the establishment of colitis model to the end of the experiment). At the end of the experiment, the mucosal damage index(CMDI),the level of myeloperoxidase(MPO), the score of histology(HS) in rats colon and the occult blood test(OB) in feces were observed and measured, meanwhile, the content of malondiadehyde(MDA), glutathione peroxidase(GSH Px),catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase(SOD), nitric oxide(NO) in rats colon were detected. RESULTS After being treated with acetic acid, the exetent of OB, CMDI, HS and the level of MPO in model group were more higher than that in normal group, MT(2 5,5 0,10 0 mg?kg -1 ) ameliorated the exetent of CMDI and OB and reduced the level of MPO, MT(10 0 mg?kg -1 ) alleviated the HS of rats in model group. Meanwhile in model group, the content of MDA,NO in colon elevated, but the content of GSH Px,SOD and CAT in colon reduced remarkably. MT intracolon depressed the content of MDA,NO in colon, promote the contents of GSH Px?SOD and CAT in colon. CONCLUSION Treatment with MT shows beneficial effects on the mucosal damage of rats colitis induced by acetic acid.

To understand the genetic origin and variation of porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) prevailing in Henan province,a total of 22 PEDV positive samples from suckling piglets with severe diarrhea were collected from 16 pig farms and amplified by RT-PCR.ORF3 genes were then cloned into pMD18-T vector and sequenced.The result of sequencing showed that the length of ORF3 genes all were 675 bp which encoded 224 amino acids.The strains in this study had eight amino acid substitutions when compared with CV777 strain.The nucleotide homologies of the 22 strains were 95.9％-100％ and amino acid homologies were 96.4％-100％.By comparing with those of European strain CV777 and vaccine strain truncated CV777,the nucleotide homologies were 97.1％-97.9％ and 94.8％-95.4％,respectively.Based on the phylogenetic relationship of ORF3 genes,the PEDV field strains and PEDV reference strains could be divided into two groups,and all the field strains identified in this study belong to group 2.It suggested that prevalent PEDV strains in this study seem to be closely related to Henan isolates in previous years,domestic strains,Janpanese strains,American strains as well as Korean strains but differ genetically from European strains or vaccine strains used in China.This experiment analyzed the ORF3 gene sequence features in prevailing of Henan region in recent years,which provides a new support of epidemiology study and protein function research of PEDV ORF3 gene.

A glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with gold nanoparticles loading on the reduced graphene oxide (rGO)-multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) composite film was fabricated by a two-step procedure.Firstly, rGO-MWCNTs composite were prepared by in-situ chemical reduction method with hydrazine as a reducing agent.Then, AuNPs were deposited on the surface of rGO-MWCNTs using simple cyclic voltammetry.This modified electrode was characterized using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) and electrochemical methods.Furthermore, the electrochemical behavior of bisphenol A (BPA) was also investigated using this modified electrode.The results showed that the modified electrode had high electrochemical activity for the oxidation of BPA.In 0.10 mol/L phosphate buffer solution (PBS, pH 7.0), the linear range for the determination of BPA with differential pulse voltammetry (DPV) was in the range of 5.0 × 10-9 -1.0 × 10-7 mol/L and 1.0 × 10-7-2.0 × 10-5 mol/L.The detection limit was 1.0 × 10-9 mol/L (S/N=3).The as-prepared modified electrode was successfully used to determine BPA in river water and the shopping receipt samples with recovery ranges of 97%-110% and 98%-104%, respectively.

The influence of low tube voltage in dual source CT (DSCT) coronary artery imaging on image quality and radiation dose and its application value in clinical practice were investigated. Totally, 300 cases of chest pain with low body mass index (BMI <18.5 kg/m(2)) subjected to DSCT coronary artery imaging were prospectively enrolled. The heart rate in all patients were greater than 65/min. The retrospective ECG gated scanning mode and simple random sampling method were used to assign the patients into groups A, B and C (n=100 each). The patients in groups A, B and C experienced 120-, 100-, and 80-kV tube voltage imaging respectively, and the image quality was evaluated. The CT volume dose index (CTDIvol) and dose length product (DLP) were recorded, and the effective dose (ED) was calculated in each group. The image quality scores and radiation doses in groups were compared, and the influence of tube voltage on image quality and radiation dose was analyzed. The results showed that the excellent rate of image quality in groups A, B and C was 95.69%, 94.72% and 96.33% respectively with the difference being not statistically significant among the three groups (P>0.05). The CTDIvol values in groups A, B and C were 51.35±12.21, 21.28±7.13 and 6.34±3.34 mGy, respectively, with the difference being statistically significant (P<0.05). The ED values in groups A, B and C were 9.27±1.63, 4.56±2.29 and 2.29±1.69 mSv, respectively, with the difference being statistically significant (P<0.05). It was suggested that for the patients with low BMI, the application of DSCT coronary artery imaging with low tube voltage can obtain satisfactory image quality, and simultaneously, significantly reduce the radiation dose.

Objective To study the effect of electric stimulation combined with Ai salt bag on shoulderhand syndrome after cerebral infarction.Methods A total of 188 patients with shoulder-hand syndrome after cerebral infarction admitted to Taizhou Central Hospital from September 2015 to August 2018 were enrolled in the study,they were randomly divided into study group (n =94) and control group (n =94) according to the random number table method.The control group was given uplink electrical stimulation treatment based on the conventional treatment for cerebral infarction and rehabilitation training,the study group was given Ai salt bag treatment on the basis of the control group.The clinical treatment effect,pain and edema VAS score,Fugl-Meyer motor function score and ADL score were observed and compared between the two groups.Results After 28 days of treatment,the total effective rate was 88.30％ (83/94) in the study group and 76.60％ (72/94) in the control group,the difference between the two groups was statistically significant (x2 =4.447,P ＜ 0.05).The VAS score of edema degree and pain degree in the study group decreased from (4.13 ± 1.40) points,(3.43 ± 2.20) points to (1.70 ± 1.36) points,(1.52 ±1.22) points,which in the control group decreased from (4.10 ± 1.46) points,(3.40 ± 2.17) points to (2.79 ±1.58) points,(2.52 ± 1.18) points,there were statistically significant differences between the two groups after treatment (t1 =5.712,t2 =5.069,all P ＜ 0.05).The Fugl-Meyer motor function score and ADL score of the study group increased from (19.91 ± 13.32) points,(42.34 ± 15.57)points to (54.21 ± 11.71) points,(86.02 ±16.62)points,which in the control group increased from (20.74 ± 11.30) points,(45.84 ± 14.44) points to(45.44 ± 12.61) points,(78.84 ± 17.79)points,there were statistically significant differences between the two groups after treatment (t1 =4.941,t2 =2.859,all P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Electrical stimulation combined with Ai salt bag in the treatment of shoulder-hand syndrome after cerebral infarction has significant clinical effect,which can effectively alleviate the pain symptoms and swelling of the affected limb,promote the activities of daily living and improve the function of the affected limb,and is worthy of clinical application.

Objective To explore the effect of postnatal infection on SOX10 expression in cerebral white matter in immature rats. Methods A total of 96 newborn SD rats were randomly divided into hypoxia group, lipopolysaccharide (LPS) group, and control group. At day 3 and 6 after birth, the rats in LPS group and hypoxia group were intraperitoneally injected with 0.25 mg/kg of LPS while the rats in control group were injected with normal saline. Meanwhile the rats in hypoxia group were maintained in a hypoxic tank under atmospheric pressure and thermostatic water bath at 37℃for 2 hours of ventilation with mixed gas con-taining 8%O2 and 92%N2 at a rate of 2 L/min starting 3 days after birth. At day 7, 10, 14, 21 after birth, eight rats in each groups were sacriifced and the cerebral white matter was extracted. HE staining was performed to observe the pathological changes of cerebral white matter by light microscopy. The expression of SOX10 in cerebral white matter was determined by immunohisto-chemical and Western blotting analysis. The expression of TLR-4 was determined by Western blotting. Results In LPS group and hypoxia group, the SOX10 positive cells and expressions of SOX 10 and TLR-4 were increased at day 7, reached the peak at day 10, and then gradually declined. There were signiifcant differences between any two time points (P<0.05). In control group, there were a few positive cells and limited expressions of SOX 10 and TLR-4 and there were no differences between any two time points (P>0.05). At each time point, the difference in the SOX10 positive cells and the expressions of SOX 10 and TLR-4 were statistically signiifcant among three groups (P<0.05) in the order of hypoxia group>LPS group>control group and there were signiifcantly differences between each groups (P<0.05). Conclusions Postnatal infections can lead to cerebral white mat-ter lesions in immature rats. The existence of both hypoxia and infection can aggravate the brain injury. The high expression of SOX 10 may have the protective effect.
